Pros: Wedding
Cons: Rooms
This was my 3rd time staying at this hotel and so of course we always have a great time hence our return. However this trip unfortunately my daughter caught hand, foot and mouth disease (probably from one of the high chairs in the main restaurant as they never seem to clean or sanitize them)! Aside from this my husband and I renewed our vows on the beach and it was perfect. It rained almost every other day except the day we had our wedding. We had 25 guests and held a cocktail reception after th

We were married on Wednesday May 30, 2012 at the ROR.
We left Toronto for Montego Bay on May 26th at 6:20 am with Sunwing. I have to say, I was extremely disappointed in their customer service. We had a problem with one of our guests having the wrong name on his ticket. This was no fault but his own – he provided the wrong details at time of booking and didn’t look at his itinerary until we got to the airport. However, the matter in which Sunwing dealt with it was extremely unprofession

Well hello ladies!!! I am a MRS!! We got married at the ROR on April 19th, 2012 and stayed there from April 14th -21st. We had 33 guests and overall had a fantastic time.
Majority of the guests that attended the wedding flew out of the Toronto Airport. We ended up getting a great park and fly deal thru marlin travel $99 for the hotel room, transfers to and from the airport and parking for 8 days!! We put up to 4 ppl in a room but didn’t tell the hotel. Don’t worry about needing passes fo

My husband and I chose Jamaica as our destination for our wedding. We decided on the RIU Ocho Rios because he had already been to Montego Bay and Negril was a little pricier. I am so glad we went with the RIU Ocho Rios!!! We had the best time down there!! We had 30 guests plus ourselves, and I have never felt so welcomed somewhere!! The food was great, the drinks were great, and the service was excellent!! By the end of the trip, most of the bartenders knew our group on a first name basis!

In August 2011 I joined about 10 friends and we helped celebrate the wedding of a mutual friend at Riu. We had a blast. The food was fabulous, the beach was wonderful and it was a good time all around. The one unfortunate thing that happened, was that my husband forgot his wedding ring in the safe of our room. He didn't realize this until we started unpacking back home. FORTUNATELY we called the Riu right away and the staff was able to locate and secure the ring. After a few weeks, I'm happ

Hello Everyone,
Our wedding was on Sept. 15, 2011 - Group of 23 including us
Finally my turn to write a review. I'll make it brief (or so I hope).
We flew from Toronto on WestJet through Sunquest. On time, no problems. Paid $50 CAD extra for 2 additional check in bags (which is really cheap). Please note no duty free or food served on flight.
Check-in:
Because there were two large groups arriving on the same bus(es) - my wedding party and another wedding gro

We got married on May 28, 2011 with 30 guests. It was more beautiful than I could have pictured.
Arrival
We were delayed about 6 hours due to an air traffic controller strike in Jamaica. We finally arrived to Montego Bay. The ride from the airport to the resort was about an hr and 20 mins and we napped most of the way from being at the airport all day and night. We arrived at ROR and what a beautiful site as you enter the lobby. The view of the water through the lobby is spectac

Pros: Very Friendly Staff; nice rooms, good shows
Cons: No hot water for days, wedding day was a disappointment
I had my wedding at ROR 5/14/11. I found this website to be extremely helpful the weeks leading up to the event, so I wanted to share my experience with hopes that it will be of use to someone else. Overall, the Riu is a BEAUTIFUL resort. For the most part, the staff went out of their way to make sure all of us had a wonderful vacation, which we did.
As far as the wedding was concerned, I wasn’t 100% happy with that experience. First I’ll give you a brief summary of the day’s events

Hey Ladies,
I cant believe it's time to write my review! So here goes (its a long one)...
THE RESORT
If you book ROR you will not be disappointed. From the moment you walk into the main lobby you can feel the warm breeze and see the white sand beach. The scenery is breathtaking & the rooms are neat and comfortable. Check-in was a breeze - we simply showed the front desk our hotel voucher and they did what they could to keep our rooms as close together as possible. We had t

Pros: cleanliness, great staff, great jerk chicken!
Cons: Lots of walking for the older adults with us - large resort, shows were just ok.
Wow! We had such a wonderful experience at the RIU.
We chose Jamaica because of the ease of getting married there and the fact that it's recognized as a legal marriage in the USA. You do NOT have to have your official marriage certificate translated either as you do in Mexico.
We had 19 people total for our wedding. We flew in on a Wednesday and the rest of our group arrived on Thursday. Our wedding was on Saturday 4/16/11. I will say I was a little concerned going somewhere I'd nev

WARNING- long review!!!!
We got married at the ROR (march 9th 2011). We had 32 guests and everyone had a wonderful time. I will start by giving a review of the resort than I will talk about the wedding.
We travelled from Halifax to Montego Bay by Thomas Cook airline. Somewhat good service but the comfort of the aircraft is not good. The free drinks they provide help to ease the pain of the uncomfortable seats. The drive from the airport to the resort was ok. I had read about the crazy driv

Pros: All Inclusive beach resort
Cons: Almost 2 hours from the airport
We had a great time here. It was our first trip to Jamaica. We were considering the Riu for our wedding. After the visit we choose to go with another resort. Check in was about 20 minutes. Our room was nice with a few cosmetic issues. Nothing to bad. The AC rocked. The bed was very comfortable. We really enjoyed the beach. We spent many days laying on the beach enjoying their awesome wifi service. The food was okay at most of the restaurants. We did not enjoy having to get up early to make reser
