  1. @@TammyWright @@Moments That Matter Thanks for the warm welcome! We're happy to be on here, and always happy connecting with other Canadians too!
  2. @@tpenner We know how important it is to brides to see wedding photos utilizing their chosen resorts. It's a perfect chance to really give you a feel for the space, and what's all possible. Since you appreciated those, I figured I would also include a few photos of the makeup Besos Brides did for a recent bride of ours. We have been fortunate enough to work with both Styling Trio and Besos Brides and would recommend both companies! And our brides also highlight how happy they've been both both companies. @@Kfred You expressed concern for the amount of guests that are able to fit within the ceremony structure on the beach at Sandos Caracol, so I am including a photo to help show just how much space there is to this unique setting. The majority of the weddings we photographed there, the couples have opted for the rooftop terrace for the reception. This space is beautifully set up, offers plenty of space, has a shallow pool in the center that looks great in photos, with the ocean in the background. The lighting is great up on the roof as well, for the speeches, dancing, drinking and overall partying afterwards, as you can see from the included images. One couple we photographed (who opted to only hire us until the reception) did have their reception on the beach, and the space that is set up is beside the beach structure, with your own bar set up for your guests too. The space definitely feels tighter than on the rooftop (if you're concerned with 60 guests being comfortable in the space all night). Hope this helps! And let us know if you have any other questions regarding the resort, or otherwise. As Winnipeggers ourselves, who decided to move to the Riviera Maya and photograph weddings full time, we love being able to help other fellow Canadians, and more specifically, other fellow Winnipeggers/Manitobans.
  3. @@VancouverGal Welcome to the wonderful community we have going here at BDW! These forums will be exceptionally useful during your wedding planning. We have been fortunate enough to work at Now Sapphire several times, and love it every time. Juan-Carlos is FABULOUS. Absolutely fabulous, can't say enough good things about him. I'm very happy to hear you will assisted by him during these planning stages. As for lighting, if you are curious of the different setups, both for the reception on the tequila terrace, as well as lighting for the dance floor that is opposite the dinner setup, I'm including a few photos from Amber & Ross's wedding we photographed there. If you would like to see further highlights from their day, please follow the link to our portfolio page: http://jasminandmatt.com/portfolio/amber-ross You might also like to check out the highlights from another wedding on the tequila terrace, where the couple opted to string lights and paper lanterns in the reception portion, and included party favours for the dance party: http://www.jasminandmatt.com/portfolio/claudia-brad/ Hope some of this information is helpful, and don't be shy to ask further questions based on our experiences at Now Sapphire. You can reply here, send us a PM, or even a direct email. Cheers! Jasmin & Matt
  4. @@bmillerick Welcome to the forums! Don't be shy to ask any and all your questions here, as there's always a plethora of us waiting to help answer them, or at least try to be of assistance guiding you down the right path for you, your fiancé and your guests. Definitely have several conversations with a good travel agent to help you figure out the location, before starting to feel overwhelmed with resort options. If most of your guests are travelling from the East, you might want to consider travel/flight times, and stay on the Eastern side of things, such as the Riviera Maya in Mexico (along the Yucatan peninsula), where you will have plenty of resort options. There's also always the option of checking out Jamaica (Runaway Bay is where we'll be next week to photograph a wedding) or Montego Bay. There's also Punta Cana, D.R. Check out locations and decide what sort of backdrop you want. Keep your options open, as you can choose a beach setting, gazebo, secluded bridge, gardens, or even on a catamaran if you so desire! I'm including a handful of varying ceremonies we've photographed here in the Riviera Maya as inspiration. Should you have any questions, feel free to ask us here, send a PM, or even send us a direct email. Just remember, planning your wedding should be fun, and be sure to enjoy it along the way. Cheers! Jasmin & Matt
  5. Hi KarinaL and others in the forum. Wishing you a warm and friendly welcome from everyone here on the BDW forums. Just reading through some of your desired options, such as not having a wedding on a beach, but potentially avoiding the windy aspects of a sky roof terrace and wanted to also recommend Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe for their gazebo location that is moments from the beach, but without the nuance of sand, plus eliminating the potential wind problems with being located on a roof. Barcelo also offers a private interior space for the reception, which is another item you had expressed an interest in. For some Barcelo inspiration, we're including 5 of our favourite photos from Andrea & Mich's wedding at the gazebo with the interior private reception following. If you want to see the entire day from this wedding, feel free to follow this link to our direct portfolio page: http://www.jasminandmatt.com/portfolio/andrea-mich/ Another great resort that has a lot of options, including a gazebo ceremony space not located on the sand or on a rooftop is Grand Palladium. The gazebo is located on the grass, in a semi-private space (a walkway that is rarely used, is nearby) and allows for luscious foliage to surround the space, and your guests. You can see the space from the attached 3 photos for Kristi & Gord's wedding there this past April. Both of these resorts have very fair prices, which I know you stressed was an importance for you and your guests. For any additional questions about either of these resorts, or other resorts we have worked at that offer similar options, don't hesitate to message us here, send a PM or feel free to email us directly. Cheers! Jasmin & Matt
  6. Hi Stacy, Just popping in to wish you a warm welcome to the BDW Forums. They are an invaluable resource for all your wedding needs, from hair/makeup to lighting & decor, photography/videography to meal plans & survival kits. Sometimes planning a wedding from a distance is difficult and know that there's plenty of us on here ready and willing to help. Barcelo is a beautiful resort, with plenty of various options for where to have your wedding ceremony, as well as your reception. We love working at that resort, as the grounds are well maintained, the staff is friendly and there's always new places to explore for photos. Feel free to follow this link to a wedding we photographed at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe gazebo space so you can get a feel for that space. http://www.jasminandmatt.com/portfolio/andrea-mich/ And I am attaching a few of our recent teasers from a May wedding we just finished photographing at Barcelo Maya Beach, but this ceremony location was utilizing the Playa Azul secluded beach space. If you have any questions at all, about Barcelo or about wedding planning in general, please do not hesitate to ask us here, or in a private message or email. Cheers! Jasmin & Matt

  10. I know this is a little late but maybe good information for future brides. We photographed a wedding in Cayo Santa Maria this past February and are hoping to travel to Cuba again next year to photograph another. We are always willing to travel and offer fair and competitive pricing for brides who want to bring us along. We are based out of Playa del Carmen so just a quick hop over to Cuba from here. 11. Hola kelly609 and welcome to the community. While we haven't been to the Grand Bahia Jamaica yet, we will be travelling there next week. We are shooting a wedding at the Jewel Runaway bay but staying at the grand bahia so we would be more than happy to give you our thoughts about the resort when we return. We should also mention that we are always willing to travel to photograph weddings and it should be noted that when you have guests staying at the resort AND photographing your wedding you won't have to pay the outside vendor fee. Just something to keep in mind Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions at all.
  12. Hola PeteandApril, welcome to BDW forums!!! Planning a wedding can be hectic but there are tonnes of amazing resources and people here that can help with all kinds of problems. (and a couple more for good measure ) If you have any questions or want to see more examples of our photos from our wedding there don't hesitate to ask or send us a private message and we'd be more than happy to help!!
