  1. I just wanted to follow up on my previous post about the photographer I chose for my wedding at MP. Octavio Montes was absolutely amazing!!! He showed up early, stayed late, got us our proofs and final edited photos very quickly and easily. He is even including a photobook for us that was not even part of our package! I'm having trouble uploading more than one photo on this site, but he has a great portfolio on his website as well. If you want to save some money on your wedding, but do not want to sacrifice quality, you MUST check him out. The value of his work is beyond compare. I found him through this forum and feel extremely lucky to have had him to catch the moments of our special day! Message me if you want more info or to see any more of our pics.
  2. Hello all! I wanted to let you know about my wedding at Moon Palace in Oct. I had posted before the wedding and wanted to provide an update. We were very pleased with the wedding overall. It was SO much fun and really turned out beautiful. A few recommendations for those of you planning. 1) Get details in writing. The color of our center pieces was wrong and in going back through all the emails and contracts, I realized, it was never written into the actual contract invoice. Also, they got our first dance song wrong and had the wrong lighting for our reception. 2) This was probably just lucky, but the wait staff at our reception were out of this world!! They made sure all our guests were well taken care of, they danced with us, whatever we wanted or needed, they did it and it really brought an extra level of fun to the party! We tipped them well afterward! 3) LOOK for outside vendors!! SO much savings to be had here. I used a local outside florist for my flowers (bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres)- Floreria Zazil. QUICK with email responses, AMAZING flowers, exactly what I wanted for half the price of the on-site. I was worried about being "caught" with an outside vendor and having to pay the $800, but the florist, just drove in and met me on the morning of the wedding. She brought the flowers in a box so no one could see what it was. I just had to tell the front desk to let in a friend who was bringing me a wedding gift. Also, I used an outside photographer, Octavio Montes. I did have to pay the vendor fee for him, but even with that and his photo package, I got SO much more and paid less than what the on-site photographer wanted! I'm having trouble uploading photos to this post, but I'm trying to attach some. He was SO amazing to work with. TONS of drop-dead gorgeous photos, quick with delivery. He showed up early and stayed late. I feel incredibly lucky that I found him through this forum and highly recommend all Cancun area brides check out his website!
  3. I just wanted to follow up on my previous post. Our wedding went very well and the Toucan Terrace ended up being a wonderful reception location. The night we arrived, we visited the terrace and it was SUPER windy, but on the day of our wedding, it was absolutely PERFECT! I'm still not a big fan of MP management. There were details that were messed up: wrong first dance song, wrong lighting which we had paid extra for, upcharging guests upon check in to get rooms they had requested ahead of time. Overall, though, our wedding was a BLAST and I would do it all over again. Also, I wanted to let you all know that my photographer who I got as an outside vendor, Octavio Montes, was AMAZING!! He arrived early, stayed later than expected and gave us so much more than we could have ever asked for! We received our photos quickly and they are to die for! If you are looking to save some money, but do not want to sacrifice quality, you should definitely check him out. Our photos are honestly one of the best things about our whole wedding! I'm having trouble uploading photos, but I'm going to try!
  4. Hi, no one has posted in this thread for a while. I am getting married at MP next week! We did the preview of paradise in Jan 2016 . We are doing the Catholic ceremony, and selected the Venado Terrace for reception (~40 people). The on site wedding planner told me she noted my selection, but about 4 weeks ago, they send me my contact which has the reception at a completely different location!! When I told my wedding planner, she said the planner who did our preview doesn't work there anymore and none of my preferences were noted and now the Venado terrace is not available!! They GAVE AWAY my reception location! They offered me the Grand Terrace, but the photos show it is next to an above ground lap pool, not close to the beach as I wanted, and seemed far too big for my group size. After a lot of arguing, they eventually got me the Toucan Terrace, which is similar to the Venado, but in a different spot along the beach. So that is just my 2 cents on the grand terrace as well as dealing with the planners at MP. I will say one thing that has gone smoothly was choosing my photographer. I highly recommend looking to off site vendors as I was not impressed with the on-site, even after meeting with them. I found our photographer, Octavio Montes, through this forum and he has been amazing to work with so far! I can't wait for him to shoot our wedding! He has a beautiful website and portfolio and I'm getting SO much more for what I am paying (even with the outside vendor fee). Octavio is so friendly and fast with communication. He worked with us on budget as well as some special requests including a video project. He has SO much to offer! Highly recommend checking him out before you sign a contract with the on-site photographer! Best wishes to all of you!
  5. Hi, I am getting married at Moon Palace next week- YAY! I have been very impressed with the resort so far and I wanted to share a few thoughts/recommendations: 1) do the preview of paradise! We gained so much info and you get the $$ back for your stay before your wedding- WELL worth it! 2) Don't be afraid to shop for outside vendors. Even with the vendor fee, we found a photographer that is giving us more time, more shots and better service plus a special video project- all for less than the on-site! Through this forum actually, I found Octavio Montes Photography. After checking out his beautiful portfolio on his website and contacting him- I was sold. He is SO nice and friendly. Responds to emails same-day and worked with me on setting up exactly every detail needed. If you are thinking at all about an outside photographer, take a look at his website, you won't be disappointed! The photos are SO important and it wasn't something I was willing to use just anyone for. I'll post some pics after my wedding!
  6. I see people are using this thread for a lot of planning info and I think there have been some very good recommendations! I'm getting married next week (AHHH!!) at MP. I have had some bumps in the planning process, so I wanted to give a recommendation on something that was very smooth. I am very excited about our photographer! After looking at the on-site photographer's work, I was not that impressed, especially for what you get for the price. Through another thread on this forum, I found Octavio Montes Photography and I could not be happier or more excited to work with him! I contacted several Cancun area photographers and I am getting SO much more with him (even with the outside vendor fee) and the customer service so far has been AMAZING. He responds to emails same day usually and thorough and friendly. He is willing to work with what your specific needs are including budget and special projects. His website has a great portfolio of photos and videos. If you are looking at outside photographers at all, you should check him out- You won't be disappointed!
