  1. @@streelbride the prices at Rose by Dahena were by far the best! I must've emailed a dozen. And esp since their prices are in pesos, you can't beat it. I asked other make up/hair stylists if they would provide prices in pesos. Majority said no, only USD. Their prices are a little more than the resort's spa...but they're professionals and prices include airbrushing. AND they have a salon in PDC so they're a 10minute taxi ride away. Just send them an email...let them know you talked to me (Livia). They'll send you their price list but then just let them know your budget and they'll definitely work with you to stay in your budget. For a photog I'm using Victor Herrera ( I love his portfolio. and he gave me the best price 8hrs that included a trash the dress session the next day in Playa Del Carmen, the beach there and a cenote. I'm paying the external vendor fee for him. I think it'd be obvious he wasn't a guest...a local w/ a big camera. Again I emailed soooo many photogs in Canada and in Mexico. The Canadian photogs I liked didn't want to go for the whole 7 days (so I couldn't benefit from my group rate) or they wanted two of them to go....and then you have to pay for their rates. I just couldn't make it work. Again, email him and let him know you heard about him from me. He was pretty responsive to all my requests and worked out a good price for me. I agree the USD is brutal. Anything that I can pay in CAD or pesos I'm taking advantage of. The resort won't budge though. What gazebo/reception did you book???
  2. Hey MHogan, I'm getting married at GSP in April too!! How's your planning going? We are getting married at the Sunset Gazebo and then reception on the beach. However now I'm leaning towards the chill out area!! It looks so nice! and i don't think my parents were that impressed with being in the sand for dinner. I think it'll be fun. The beach is why we're going to mexcio right? I picked the most basic package and will add on from there. I didn't really trust the spa to do my hair and make up so I didn't bother getting a package that included that. I did just book my hair and make up with Rose by Dahena. Their prices are in pesos! All of the other make up/stylists I contacted only had prices in USD. So the pesos is a huge cost savings! And their portfolio is amazing! Did you decide on your flowers? I'm going to get real touch flowers and then use the flowers from my bouquet in my package to put in vases as the centrepieces at the reception. My bridesmaids flowers will be white peonies and their dresses are pink. Glad to chat with another April bride. It's coming up quick!
  3. @tehopper After A LOT of research and I think I contacted every single photographer I could. We decided against bringing our own photographer. After getting quotes from both in Mexico and from Canada...it didn't really seem like much of a savings. Alot of the photogs only wanted to come for 4 days (and 4 days was pretty much the same price as one week) so they couldn't be part of our group rates therefore I didn't see much benefit for us. I'm looking at make up/hair off the resort. Some are willing to meet you in their salon, or a condo, or suggest you hire a hotel room in Playa Del Carmen where they can meet you. I don't know if I trust the resort's spa. I did read somewhere they use MAC make up but I guess it's more about the application. I'm getting eye lash extensions too. Did you get your bridesmaids flowers too? How many people do you have going? Ceremony/Dinner locations? We've decided on the Sunset gazebo but still not sure what to do for the dinner/reception. I do love the look of the The Chill Out area! PS: YOUR WEDDING IS SO CLOSE!!! so exciting!!
  4. anyone bring their own photographer with them? Did they waive the external vendor fee if your photog is staying the week?
  5. @@tehopper Oooh thanks for the info! With the CAD doing so crappy right now, trying to find ways to cut costs. I had just read that some other brides had used real touch artificial flowers and were happy with them. I'm was just thinking of flowers for the bridesmaids and centrepieces. Are you getting your hair and make up from the spa? We haven't officially booked our date yet. It's nerveracking...getting worried that someone might book the date we're interested in. When's your wedding?
  6. @tehopper wow that's brutal. Are we allowed to bring our own decorations from home? I was thinking of bringing bunting to hang, table numbers as well as (sigh) an artifical flower bouquet. With the poor exchange rate, this may end up costing the same as having wedding at home. Where are you having your wedding/reception? Thanks for the heads up about Katy. I'll keep her in mind.
  7. Thinking about GSP for my wedding. I got a big email about packages and prices. It states no outside decorations allowed? Is that true? Did any brides have trouble bringing their own decorations?
  8. Yet another bride planning on getting married at RWS in April 2016. If anyone can send me any of their info re:pricing that'd be great! Email: seamusplusliv@@gmail.com Is it only me that thinks their child rates are expensive? or is that average? I've only been to one all inclusive so I have very limited knowledge about these things. Thanks!
