  1. I chose the a la carte because we are getting married on a Wednesday and the Palapa wasn't able to be booked on a Wednesday. I also didn't want to pay a crazy amount extra for a beach dinner, and we really aren't too picky as to where the reception is. I had a Skype call with our wedding coordinator yesterday, and she said we are 99% booked for the Italian restaurant. Aranza did say she wouldnt be able to 100% confirm the restaurant until 2 weeks before though. Hope this helps! @@WPGBride17
  2. Thank you so much for your speedy responses! @yycbride2016@yycbride2016@@calgarybride2015 Also ladies - the pics are beautiful! And @@calgarybride2015 I do have FB. What is the FB page? I did a quick search but couldn't find it. Thanks again! Alex
  3. Hi ladies.... Any comments/feedback about the hair salon at GS? I am curious as to the quality, and skill of the hair stylists. If anyone has any pictures they can share, that would be much appreciated. Thanks! Alex
  4. Has anyone read up about the Zika virus that's going around in the Caribbean and South America right now? I have a few bridesmaids who are trying for babies. Very dangerous for pregnant women to be exposed to this virus. I'd pass this along/take a look: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/health/what-is-zika-virus.html?_r=0
  5. Hi Everyone - if you can - I would look intro bringing a photographer with you, paying their fee and their stay. It worked out that we had a friend who could come and do our pictures. Even if you don't know the person - it's WAY cheaper - and you get them for the whole week, plus i'm sure more reliable. Just something to think about
  6. @@calgarybride2015 Thank you very much for all of the info! @@vivitazy I would opt for the free wedding package and then choose to upgrade the location and other add ons. You can always upgrade your package - however you cannot downgrade. I learned that the hard way!
  7. Wow. That bad review definitely gave me butterflies in my tummy - not the good kind. Hoping that all works out, and we have a great wedding. Same goes for everyone who has an upcoming wedding at GS. All this talk about the free package - and upgrading - has got me thinking. We have 80 people attending, and unfortunately have booked for Wednesday May 25th (they don't allow you to book the Palapa on Wednesdays). We may change the date so we can upgrade to the Palapa. I do have a few questions that will help guide my decision: 1) How many people does the Palapa hold? 2) Has anyone had their reception on Yalku beach? Do you have any pictures? 3) Has anyone had 80 + guests attend? What did you do for your reception dinner? 4) Are you able to upgrade the ceremony location to Palapa beach? 5) Does anyone have any pictures of the restaurants. Adriana sent a few, however of ones that can no longer accommodate the size of my group. I want to see - Bayou Cajun, and then Steak House: El Rancho. 6) What have you ladies done for an isle runner? Petals, wood etc? Any pictures/suggestions? Thanks ladies and happy planning! Alex
  8. @@emjay84 We will have about 70 guests as well. I would love if you could share the menus. Where are you having your reception dinner? I wanted to do it in the Palapa, however we are getting married on a Wednesday, and unfortunately the Palapa isn't available. This goes out to the whole group: We are having our reception dinner in one of the restaurants - probably the Italian Restaurant. It will be private which is good. We want to have a DJ and our first dances in there as well. Has anyone done this/heard of anyone having a DJ and their first dances etc in one of the restaurants? Thanks! Alex
  9. @@calgarybride2015 Thank you so much! You have been very helpful. Much appreciated!
  10. Hi ladies! A few questions 1) in the picture above - is the "ceremony" the Playa Nueva location? Do you know where the Playa Yaluka beach location is? 2) Any thoughts/comments on the hair/makeup artists at the resort? Do you know what products they use? I am thinking about paying for an external vendor to do my hair and makeup - http://www.saratamargo.com/ 3) Photographers at the resort - thoughts/comments? Many thanks! Alex
  11. Thank you so much for the helpful information - calgarybride2105 We have opted for the Gold package, and I have decided to choose the Italian restaurant. I was going to change to the Palapa, however we are getting married on a Wednesday, and the Palapa isn't available on Wednesdays. Anyway, thank you so much again for your help Your pictures are beautiful btw Alex
  12. Hello everyone! I'm new to this website/thread. In doing some research for my upcoming wedding at GS (May 25, 2016), I came across this thread and have already found a lot of helpful information. For some reference to my questions below, we are expecting around 60 guests. I do however have a few questions I want to throw out there - I am having a hard time choosing the location of my ceremony. I am thinking the "Playa Nueva", as that appears to be the most private beach location, however I am still unsure. Any help clarifying/pictures anyone has, would be much appreciated. Also - I have been reading that the Italian restaurant has the nicest decor....any thoughts? I am thinking about getting the hanging gazebo flowers - any thoughts/pricing for this? Lastly - any thoughts on the reception after the ceremony - I'm thinking the snack bar as it is right on the beach, however again, not completely sure. Any help is much appreciated! Alex
