  1. @@JenniferH114 Those sashes are a crazy good deal. Are you in the states? Shipping to canada ruins the great deal
  2. @@calgarybride2015 I'm sure you can get back there! You just need a little extra motivation. I'm going dress shopping next weekend and I thought that was going to be my motivation over the past few months. Apparently nothing is motivating me. But now my fiance seems like he is in it to win it (now that his workload has finally decreased) so if he's in it, I have to be! No excuses!
  3. @@CaroV Well done on your progress (not to be a creeper but I'm always on instagram and so I looked at your account). You have made some amazing progress! Especially since you mention you have never been fit in your life. You definately are now! I am normally addicted to fitness but it's strange, ever since I got engaged my fitness has come second to wedding planning and other life events. My fiance and I started a program called Body Beast last night and we are going to try and hold each other accountable all while training for a half marathon in August! I find signing up for races and different events keeps me motivated throughout the year. I just went a long time with no events planned till now! Time to up my game! Good luck and keep pushing through!
  4. I think the Garmin ones are really pricey and you usually dont use all of the available functionality on it anyways so its overpriced for that reason. I'd got with a polar hr monitor watch & strap! Its true, Straps are the most accurate way to track your heart rate and calorie burn through your workouts. If you just plan to track workouts then go with something like that but the Fitbit its more for continuous throught the day tracking. I still wear my fitbit while i workout and use a hr monitor as well. (Fitbit has a leaderboard for steps and I'm always trying to win..)
  5. @@calgarybride2015 That's so strange that it says you ran 1km when you go down the stairs. I've never had that issue. Now with my GPS watch I don't even have to open up the MapMyRun app to get it going. Once i'm done my run, I stop my watch and sync it to my phone and then it auomatically posts my stats to MapMyRun and adjusts my calories in MyFitnessPal. I tried running both MapMyRun and my watch and they were ever so slightly different in distances so I decided to just use my watch. Thats the same Polar HR I have. Excpet When I got it, I didn't see the pink one So sad I missed out. Oh well. Its great when you have fresh batteries in both the strap and watch. I went a long time without using it because it kept disconnecting during my workouts. It was really frustrating. But I put new batteries in both and now it works again.
  6. @@TinkerSofi @@calgarybride2015 My fiance has the Fitbit Charge HR. He says the HR part of it is a bit finiky. When he lifts weight I think there is restricted blood flow around the wrist and he said the hr function on it goes a bit crazy. But he likes it and it looks good. I have the Fitbit One and I never go a day without wearing it. I'm obsessed. I've had it for I think 2 years now and its amazing. I love seeing how my sleep was or how active I was in a day. I also have the fitbit Aria scale and it's great to track progress. For my workouts I use the Polar HR watch and strap. For running I have a TomTom GPS watch that also tracks my Heart rate. (I'm a bit of a fitness tech nerd haha). Oh also, The fitbit works with myfitnesspal. The tomtom GPS watch works with MapMyRun which also syncs with fitbit and myfitnesspal.
  7. @@vancouverpetunia Just realised I never responded to your message haha. Thats too funny about the onion ring. We had joked about kyle getting me cubic zirconia ring off of groupon for months and so I was so nervous he was going to do that but I would think it was a real diamond haha. I think my "thank you" stemmed from the fact that He had about 3 rings that I fell in love with to choose from and he picked my number one choice. I was just surprised because it was also the most expensive so I think thats why I said thank you. I was in such shock!
  8. @@vancouverpetunia I feel your pain! I had no intention of bringing anything but wedding favors for everyone until I found this forum. It's very dangerous! But I'm glad I'm bringing a few things to add a personal touch and to make the day how I envision it. Plus a lot of this stuff I can keep and use around the house afterwards. The lanters I figure will be cute in the summertime on the deck and the vases go perfectly in our house (grey walls with accent colors in each room). As for things like starfish and seashells, I will probably just try to sell afterwards so it's still not a huge expense with you think of the re-useable/re-sellable value! As for bridesmaids dresses I've been struggling quite a bit to find something that is affordable, cute, and the right color. My 3 bridesmaids are all different sizes so that is also a struggle. I've ordered a convertible dress on Etsy for myself to test out if the color and style is what I want. because it's pretty much a one size fits most kind of style 2 of my bridesmaids can try this one on to see how they like it. The other bridesmaid needs to order the larger size it comes in and she also doesn't live in the same city as me. This is the dress: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/211198450/maxi-full-length-bridesmaid-infinity?ref=shop_home_active_8&ga_search_query=teal I will let you know how it is when I get it and post pictures. It hasn't shipped yet but I'm hoping by the end of the month I will have it. One dress came to $90 but when I order the bridesmaids dresses, it would only come to $70 each because I can do combined shipping then. UPDATE: I just got a message from the seller and She said I should recieve the dress before the 15th! Soooo fast!
  9. @@calgarybride2015 Thanks for the info! I'll have to see closer to the date when it comes time to do some packing what I want to do. I'm not sure I want to bring sand in my suitcase to a location that has lots of sand haha. Maybe I'll bring and empty container and fill it up and then ask them to put some in each vase! I will definitely email them and see if I can see the spreadsheet of colors. It looks like it might be cheaper for me to buy them online anyways and then just use them again in Calgary at my AHR.
  10. @@TinkerSofi I'm so glad your dance classes are going great! That's fantastic! It will be so beautiful on your wedding day! Your photo booth props look fantastic! I bet people will have such a blast with that at the wedding! I hope everything gets sorted out with your group and that everything goes smoothly from here on out! Good luck! 11. @@TaraMarie33 You are doing great! I wouldn't worry. I have a theme to my wedding (starfish & beach) so I knew that all the beachy items would only be out for the summer and thats why I'm getting it all done now. I know that come the fall I wont be able to find that kind of stuff. So if you have a theme like that then you might want to consider it too. I also think this way come december/ January/ February I wont be stressed at all because I'll have everything done early! As for flowers I'm not sure i'll do flowers. I'll have a bouquet for me but I'm toying with the idea of my bridesmaids carrying these cute little starfish wands (but I'm not conviced yet). I'm bringing lanterns, tiny vases, jars, candles and loads of starfish with me for decor and this will be used for both ceremony and tables so that way I wont have to worry about flowers. I've seen some beautiful artificial flowers on etsy before that you could totally bring with you. But keep in mind the brides bouquet is included in your package (at least I'm pretty sure it is). As for the free wedding, you need 10 double occupancy rooms booked for 7 days. I think with 36 guests already you are totally good to go with the free wedding. I am only at 22 people right now and I have exactly 10 double rooms booked and 2 single rooms. I'm just hoping no one backs out now because I really want the free wedding. To go from the free wedding to the presidential wedding it would cost me $3000 difference so I really want the free. We got a deal with Transat that for every 15 people booked into our group rate the 16th person is free in the form of credit return to us (up 3 three free credits). I don't know but that might have been an early booking bonus because we booked this back in February. As far as the private beach I think @@calgarybride2015 would know better but from my understanding your guests will be transported there via a golf cart and then you will spend the entire booked duration there until the golf cart can bring you and your guests back to the resort. I dont think its super far but far enough other guests can't find it haha. @@JenniferH114 Thank you so much! These look like a great deal!
  12. @@TinkerSofi Thanks! I'm really excited to see everything coming together already. I love the lanterns! I think I will use them out on the deck in the summer next year after I've used them. And all my vases can be used around the house! I imagine i'll try and get rid of lots of stuff after the wedding but i'm trying to be mindful of what I can re-use again in the future! And yes, Michaels may just become an addiction for me haha. @@calgarybride2015 Yeah I think for the mexico wedding I'll bring real candles and then from my reception back in Calgary I'll have to use battery operated ones (I think its a fire hazard if I use real ones in the hall). I think I'm going to need to get my wedding party together when we first arrive to get things all organized. I'll need to collect sand from the beach for some of the vases and what not. How did you bring everything to the coordinator? I'm thinking if I fill my vases with sand and starfish and my lanterns too, then I'm not sure how I will bring them to the coordinator :S Great idea on the labeling of each bag for her though! I will definately be doing that. Also, do you by any chance remember seeing if they had teal (greenish blue) colored sashes for chairs? I'm just wondering if I should buy some online and then re-use them for my calgary reception too or not. So many decisions!
  13. @@ashhtayy hahaha oh don't worry I am funding your wedding quite will with all my homesense/winner shopping. I'm actually wearing a cute dress and sandles I bought there this weekend I think I need to slow down on the decorations though or I wont have any room for clothes in my suitcase haha. Good to know about the chalk pen! I'm excited to try it out! I'll have to wait for another 50% off coupon and go shopping. Thank goodness I have lots of time!
  14. Decorations: I think I am now getting close to being done with decorations! I feel like I’ve been going crazy buying things for the wedding for the past two weeks. But luckily I feel like it will come to an end soon. I’ve been way too fortunate with hitting deals though! Winners had all their beach stuff out, Michaels had 70% off all their beach themed things plus buy one get 50% off wedding stuff and a 50% off coupon this weekend! First I got all my lanterns from IKEA. I bought 4 (mostly because I’m a little concerned about space in the suitcases, so I will have to work out my numbers to see how many tables I will have to decorate. I was also thinking of using these lanterns down the aisle and on the tables for the reception to make the most out of bringing them to Mexico with us. I found battery operated tea lights at the Dollar store that I’m going to use in them when I decorate the hall here in Calgary since I don’t think I can have actual candles there. At Michaels I was a bit of a wild card! I found cute little bird cages to go with the lanterns for only .50 cents each, so I bought 5! I also found cute little turquoise jars that I filled with crystals (I got 4 at $1.50 each). I found the most adorable Starfish stand ever!!!! It was also 70% off. (Also at Michaels) I also found an ampersand wooden sign at Michaels that I’m going to paint. It was also on sale. I only paid $2.99 for it! It’s perfect for our photos. I found teal striped straws at Michaels. These were only $1.50 per pack. Good think my sister advised me to get a large number of them. My fiancé and I talked about it and weren’t quite sure how we would use them. We came up with the idea to make a custom drink in our color and serve them with these straws! I found the perfect starfish stamp at Michaels also for only $1.50! I am going to possibly stamp the back of each envelope for our invitations! I found a cute little chalkboard stand at (Michaels). I think it was only about $3! I’m going to wither write Mr. & Mrs on it and the date or Janelle & Kyle and the date. Not quite sure how I will design it yet, but I’ve seen a few creative ideas on pinterest on how to do it by using chalk pens. Has anyone used these before? Do they wipe off easy like regular chalk? Just wondering if I just write on it before going to Mexico or when I’m there. I found seashells at the dollar store. I was going to open them up to try them out in the vases and jars but it looks like they might get messy if I do that so I decided to keep them pre-packaged till we are in Mexico to use. I might end up getting another pack of them to use on the tables as decorations! Bubbles!!! I found bubbles at Michaels. I used my 50% off coupon and my sister gets 15% off at Michaels as a teacher. I ended up buying 100 bubbles even though I will only need at 30. I might end up using them for the at home reception then as well but I'm undecided. I plan to tie on some teal ribbon with a little note that says: Blow bubbles of good wishes for the new Mr. & Mrs. Does anyone have an experience transporting bubbles to their resorts? I'm not sure how to do this yet because I don't want them to leak. I was thinking of just putting them in a ziplock bag but then I couldn't tie the tags on till I got there. Any ideas? Looks like that’s all I have to update on (I will update on the OOT bags once the mens’s bags arrive in the mail, the girls are done already!). Now time for a break! My mum arrives next week so then it will be dress shopping and invitation making!! Very excited at how this is all coming together.
