  1. From the album: Wedding stuff

    Different sized starfish
  2. @@snswedding2016 I bought them on eBay and the listing says they are 7" wide and 108" long. You could also contact your WC and maybe ask her to measure the chairs you're using and that might give you a good idea of how long they need to be? I love the diagonal sash idea! I've seen a few and its super cute. Would be cute down the aisle drawing the eye to the center (aka you)!
  3. Thanks for the feedback @@calgarybride2015. I left the chair with the bow and tassle on my chair for a full day and it stayed put without any reinforcements so I think it will actually stay up on its own if they tie it good enough. So I think I'm going to stick with them being tied in with the bows. I will have to make them all this weekend I think. I've been slacking a bit haha. I might still look into renting th hanger because I have these cute little white lanters that I'm not sure if I want them haning up or if I want them along the asile in the sand.
  4. @@vancouverpetunia hahahaha this is hillarious! I've had the same dreams too! This past weekend I dreamt it was like the week or so before our wedding. And I've been growing hair out (soo.. frustrating), anyways and I dreamt my FI burnt off my hair (no idea why on earth he would do that). But in the dream I got so mad at him and was like " DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW EXPENSIVE EXTENTIONS ARE???" hahahahhaa. Its so funny how we get so into our wedding planning that it takes over even our dreams
  5. From my experience I think if you are open about budgeting, having a joint account isn't that scary or stressful. Kyle and I got a joint account when we purchased our house 2 years ago (been living together for 3 years). We put money for the dog, electricty, cable, mortgage, insurance, etc into the joint account (anything that is both of our expenses) and then the rest is individual. We actually have a spreadsheet that helps us budget. Every month we talley up who owes who what to keep everything balanced. So like groceries or dinners out. I think we'll always keep personal items like clothes or haircuts etc separate but anything we purchase together will be either from the joint account or we even up on at the end of the month. Over time though, we've noticed that we balance each other out with who is paying for what. I pay for groceries and he pays for rennovation stuff and electronics, etc. and then when we split everything we usually come out fairly even. I wouldn't stress over it too much, just make sure you are even and keeping open / honest about where your money goes. My sister and her ex ran into money issues when they didnt talk about it. He claimed his money was the "fun" money and my sisters was the bills money. When they split that really bit her in the butt. Edit: Also the spreadsheet helps you analyse over time how much you spend on groceries, household items, entertainment, etc. Its been really helpful for us to be able to say woah! we ate out way too many times this month we need to cut back. Its good to be aware of where your money is going.
  6. @@ashhtayy Awe I love the save the dates! They are super cute. I wouldn’t worry too much about them and the cost/ missing information, etc. I actually designed and put ours together. I had them Printed and cut at staples but I did the rest. I think my price was about $80. But I only had about 70 to send. As for the information I also stressed about not having enough information on mine. I felt like an idiot for not saying when they needed to book / pay their deposits by. I only wrote that the trips needed to be paid in full by December. So that was really dumb of me. But in the end I sent out reminder messages out through Facebook throughout the 90 days so people were aware. I have all that info on my website but like you said I don’t think many people look at that. I’m also with you on not wanting to send out formal invitations after the amount of work that goes into save the dates. Being that I’m a designer I didn’t want to miss out on designing my own invitations though haha. In the end I’m happy we made them because we are having an at home reception so I need to get that info out too. Plus now that I’m starting to send invitations out people are gaining interest again in coming so my numbers slowly keep growing.
  7. @@snswedding2016 I know how you feel about decorations when you had no intentions of buying more haha. I’m the same way. It’s hard to stop looking, and when you do it’s like things just start jumping off the shelves at you. I also bought the striped straws. That’s a great deal! I found them on clearance at Michaels for $1.50 (I ended up buying sooo many). We decided that we are going to have a signature drink and use these straws only for that drink. I like your idea of having the fun straws for kid’s drinks though! Cute! Everything looks so cute though! It’s all coming together! Yay! Your necklace is so cute! I love it and the fact that it has sentimental meaning to you makes it perfect for your wedding! Also that’s so exciting about getting a second engagement photoshoot. Especially one in the summer. I love the location you picked. The photos will surely come out stunning and because the color of the lavender might come out close to your wedding color it would work to decorate your location with your new photos for the wedding! Can’t wait to see them!
  8. @@TinkerSofi Awe the ring engraving is a super cute idea. I think he'll love it and like you said it'll make it easy for him to remember your date. That way there will be no excuses if he forgets an anniversary haha. Good luck with your bridal shower! Thats so exciting! I remember planning my sisters 3 years ago and it was so much fun to get everyone together before the trip.
  9. @@TinkerSofi hahah that is too funny. Kyle is actually opposite to me. I love to save as much money as possibe (which is great for this wedding planning) and he loves expensive things. I wouldn't be surprised if he spends the same amount on a suit for the wedding as I spent on the dress. Although it makes more sense for him because he can wear it again in the future whereas my dress is done after the wedding I created a budget early on and when he saw how much I had alloted for a suit he thought I was crazy and that I didnt want him to look good haha. I know that if he looks at the right time of year and keeps his eye out for sales (which he wont do) then we could get a great price on a nice suit. Men... haha
  10. @@TinkerSofi & @@ashhtayy Se my TA never told me about these perks, only the $150 deposit and the 16th guest free (up to 3 free guests). And after being on this site I was doing some research and found that list of perks, so I emailed my TA and she told me I get the Cloud 9 package with booking. I was mostly concerned about how much luggage I could bring so this is a huge help. As for how we are transporting the suit and dress, i'm hoping to put them into one garment bag but we will have to see once we get Kyle's suit. I think you could manage a suit and dress but not sure about adding in 2 bridesmaids dresses as well. i'm pretty sure that when my sister did a destination wedding 3 years ago she had only her dress in her garment bag and I think the suit was just in a suitcase. They had both sent out for steaming when the got there though so you couldn't see that his suit had been in a suitcase. You should check your wedding package @@TinkerSofi because a lot of packages include dress/ suit steaming in them. (maybe you could get the bridesmaids dresses steamed... or bring a travel steamer).
  11. @@acw271011 Oh for sure, I'm keeping my eye out for one at a few different places. Ordering online still makes me nervous for a veil. (just worried it wont match). I can't believe the price you paid for your dress! Well done! Thats a great deal. I bet Doug is supper happy with that. I know for me Kyle didnt care what I spent (but obviously not a crazy amount). I had told him I only wanted to spend $500 but he knows me too well and wasn't suprised when I spent just shy of $1000. Oh well... We're worth it right
  12. @@ashhtayy Those are great perks and I think you have very valid reason for jumping on the price drop guarentee already! Thats a great drop and I agree you really want to make sure you have enough rooms/seats open to rebook everyone. I should really start keeping an eye on it closer. Our price was $2054 from Calgary to Cancun and that really stopped a lot of our friends from being able to afford to come unfortunately. But we really struggled to get any cheaper than that at a resort we liked. Its tough. We are also with transat and get the following perks: A future travel voucher of $500 for the wedding couple Deposit of only $150 instead of $250 $100 credit for a pre-booked excursion for the wedding couple The 16th guest stays free (up to 3 free tickets) Priority check-in at the airport and priority luggage tags Complimentary advanced seat assignment An extra 10 kg baggage allowance per couple free of charge Two 200 ml bottles of sparkling wine on the departure flight A reserved overhead compartment for your wedding gown On-board announcement, if desired All of it just gets me so excited to want to fly out tomorrow haha.
  13. @@calgarybride2015 Thanks! Ours was $300 for an hour I think. I don't think my fiance would go for another set of photos haha. Plus we just made our engagement photo album so I'm sure that ship has now sailed Maybe we will do photos as an anniversary gift to each other or something in the future. I just love having photos of us! haha
  14. @@ashhtayy Awww I absolutely love your story! It really seems like you two were meant to be together! It’s funny how things always seem to work out in the end, especially in a way you least expect it to. And the proposal is so adorable! What a romantic guy you’ve found! Congrats!!! I love your engagement photos! And it’s such a great idea that you will do more in the summer time to use at the wedding. The practice will make your wedding photos seem so natural and easy! Also how great is it that you got the first set done for free! I’d love more photos of my FI and I if it weren’t so expensive haha. Good for you guys! You got such a good deal for bookings! I’m actually really jealous. I wonder what we were thinking booking in peak season (February) because it’s so darn expensive. I’m really relying on the price drop guarantee to make the trip cheaper for our guests. I’m glad you were able to get reasonable quotes for both departure locations. Are you getting any perks with the bookings? You have so many guests booking that I would imagine they offer you some sort of “rewards”. You will have so much fun with that many guests! I’m sure it will be a week long party for everyone! I’m totally the same way with excel for the wedding. I have spreadsheets for so many different things, I have the budget done and every possible budget outcome as a spreadsheet (depending on how many guests come, or what package we end up doing), I have ones for guest lists, like you with where they depart from, and also if they are coming to the Mexico wedding, at home reception, or both. It’s funny how you rely on having these spreadsheets after a while. I can’t wait to read more on your planning thread! J
  15. @@snswedding2016 I'm going to look into what my chair options are but I don't want to pay for different chairs other than free ones. Seems silly to pay for a chair of one is included. As for the shepherd hooks, I've seen them and love them. I had thought about them for hanging my lanterns on. But not sure if the resort offers them. I'll have to find out. 16. HELP!!! Ok so I have a dilemma/crisis going on! I got my chair sashes in the mail on Saturday and OMG I LOVE THEM! Seriously. I was nervous about ordering 50 of them online since I didn't order a sample color or anything first. But they turned out absolutely perfect. (they look blue in the photo but they are actually a perfect shade of teal) Anyways that's not my dilemma. I really loved the idea of starfish chair hangers that I keep seeing on etsy and pinterest. So I decided I was going to make some after reading a few tutorials on here. I went my Michales and actually found these tassels which would be way easier to transport there and add starfish/ribbon to. And I found sparkly starfish at Michaels too. Perfect! Then...I'm looking online trying to figure out how to put it all together. And then I think hm... I never thought to look at what type of chairs I'm working with. So I went to @@calgarybride2015's wedding photos and these are the chairs she had. Now for the problem.. HOW DO I HANG THESE????? I don't think they are going to work but I already bought 8 of these tassel things and they were on a huge discount so I can't return them. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I wanted them to line the aisle for the ceremony and then I was going to have one on each chair for the wedding party. Anyone have ideas how I can hang them on the chairs going down the aisle? Or any other way I can incorporate them into my wedding?? I'm sort of freaking out about these things now. Any help is seriously appreciated!! thank you Ah! I may have just figured it out!!! Thought? Or other ideas?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
