  1. @@Wafflesmom Yay! Glad you've started your thread too! You get married one month before me!! I love your story! Its so cute and the whole experience from online dating, picking out the ring, to the unknown proposal will be an amazing memory for you both! I love that your ring has sentimental value too. Its cute that he wanted to incorpoate his grandmas diamonds into your ring. You must be very special to him! (obviously haha). You've chosen a great resort. We had strongly considered the moon palace. My FI thought it looked like a super fun resort and was ready to book it. But we got nervous about the "big" resort feel. I'm glad that will work out to your advantage! The color shceme is amazing! I had briefly considered coral. but more so love it after having already picked my color out haha. I think it will look amazing on the beach with your setting! Congratulations!!!!
  2. @@Wafflesmom Ah I just read stuff about photographers travelling with you for weddings and having all of their equipment seized. I think there would be regulations on getting work permits and what not, which feels like a complete hassle to me. I just found a cute couple that are canadian doing photography around this area and i've reached out to them for a quote. Jasmin and Matt: http://www.jasminandmatt.com
  3. @@Wafflesmom Thank you so much! That is such a great idea. I agree, given the market right now and the Canadian dollar (and I live in Oil city haha) that would be a great way to save on costs. I might re-consider the option of bringing a photographer with me too. The one who did my engagment photos is super nice and she offered so much for me. My only concern with her was paying for her and her assistant (aka husband) to go on a week long vacation. I might look into seeing how much 3 days would cost instead of 7.
  4. @ awe thats perfect! He sounds amazing to work with. I just sent an email to him asking for some quotes. So exciting! I didn't expect to book photography for a nother 3 months or so. I hate when plans change haha. But thats for this info, its super helpful and i'm looking forward to hearing back from him with quotes! @@calgarybride2015 Do you have a link to your photographers personal stuff? Cielito Lindo Photography? When I google it I can't seem to find her.
  5. @ Wow thats a great deal! better. I am definately going to look into him. I have to keep in mine the outside vendor cost too but I think that would bring it up to about what I had planned to pay anyways! Thanks for the recommendation!
  6. Thank you @@calgarybride2015 & @@TinkerSofi I'm going to do my research on each of these now and see what the best deal is that I can lock in so prices don't change on me again.
  7. Okay ladies! I need some help! The resort just emailed me this afternoon to let me know that Adventure Photos (the resort photography), just changed their prices. We were going to chose one of the all day packages that cost $1500. The price on that package increased to $2500!!! That's a massive price jump. I can't justify increasing our budget by $1000 now. Any suggestions of outside photographers in the Myan riviera? I need to price out them all with a vendor fee. So frustrating. Thanks for suggestions in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Ah 3 weeks is so close! I'm so excited for you! I can only hope to be as calm as you 3 weeks out from the wedding. You must be so prepared and organized! So exciting. I love that you claim you are a gremlin! So funny! You always feel your worst right before you look your best I remember letting everything go before our trip to Mexico in the winter. Its so tough to just leave it all alone. I absolutely love that quote. So beautiful! I would love to be able to do something like that but I would either burst out into laughter looking at my FI saying that or burst out into tears. One extreme or the other haha. Good luck with the bridesmaids dress! I hope it finishes early so you both don't have to stress for too long!
  9. I like option number 2 as well. Its a little bit less in your face and its got a softer more tropical feel to it in my opinion. I'm a fan of white space on printed products though. I think that it will look great! Its funny that you say you dont care if the color matches. I was so picky about color for my invitations. But I think its probably because I knew what color I wanted and back then I was set on everything being the exact same shade of that color. Now in retrospect I wouldn't worry. Most people just throw the invitations out so knowing that I wouldn't have made mine quite so elaborate. For printing just 1 card You could try somewhere local like Staples or a local print shop. They can generally do that for you. I used to work at a print shop and do their graphic design work. Shops like that usually have someone there to design and if you bring in a picture of what you are looking for they can usually make it for you.
  10. @@snswedding2016 Your reception location is gorgeous! I'm almost a little jeaous I didn't pick something more like that too. I think it will be an amazing setting for your theme and everything you've already planned. I also love those vow book! Super cute! I feel you on the passport holders. I had the same dilemma with luggage tags haha. Such trivial things we get caught up on. I saw these mr. and mrs. luggage tags at Michales but I think they wer $18 and I just coudn't justify spending that on something that wasn't necessary.
  11. @@ashhtayy I love these color schemes. I also agree that the 2nd one had a more romantic feel. I think as long as you aren't like me and trying to stick to one specific color you will find it way easier to find items in that color pallet. I ended up opening my color up to more variations of the color (teal) because it was so hard to find everything in the exact same color. I think the colors you found should be pretty easy to find items in. I like to just do searches on Etsy and eBay for decor in X color. Might be helpful. I actually think, looking up rose-like colored deocrations, you could go with a very minimalist look (which is great for transportation and budget). I think you could do lots of soft flowers on the tables and down the asile. It would be really simple but elegant! @@calgarybride2015 haha the banana hammocks reminds me of my FI. When the color sample came in for our groomsmens ties he said they were going to be stripper ties (because he really knows what kind of ties a stripper wears hahahaha). So I told him that he can wear a speedo and this tie for the wedding. Easy! haha He only thought they looked that way because they are satin and have a shine to them. But he refers to them as "sparkly" haha. Men! Edit: I realise what I've posted now is a little more "pink" than what you originally posted, but same type of concept in going minimal with soft flowers, etc.
  12. @@JoannaBanana OMG!!!! Yes I am definately green with envy about your price. Our group quote is $2054 pp and because we upgraded to an ocean view room my FI and I are paying $2133 each Look like I need to make some more connections with people who are well connected hahaha. Good for you though. That will save you a lot of money!
  13. @@JoannaBanana Yay! Another Grand Sirenis Bride!! Welcome to the club! I love your ring and I remember reading your engagment story somewhere else. So cute! And that ring is gorgeous! Congrats! I can't wait to read more about your planning!!
  14. @@ashhtayy Oh no! Now I want to go shopping haha. My FI was saying last night that right now we have a do-able about of decorations (in terms of transporting them) but he said come 7 months who knows how much more stuff you'll have hahaha. It's so hard to stop looking. I love starfish and the beachy theme! Pick away when you're ready! Mine were super easy to make!
  15. @@ashhtayy Ah thats hilarious. I love that idea. Let us know what you end up deciding to do!
  16. @ Exactly! Someone who's on the same page as me haha! Like even the chair sashes. I paid $30 for 50 of them and the resort was going to charge me $70 to rent 25 of them. I was like, nope! I'll buy my own thanks. Plus I can use them for my AHR too and then sell them afterwards. A lot of little things I will even use to decorate the house with. The lanters I can put out on the deck in the summer and some of the vases I'm already using on my dining table with candles in them. I actually feel like DW brides are very smart people who know how to save moeny and be resourceful haha.
  17. @ Thanks! I'm really excited about the lanterns too! It's funny though. When I tell people that I'm bringing them to mexico, EVERYONE basically looks at me like I'm crazy and asks how I'm going to bring them. They are actually really light and I should be able to stuff clothes and other decorations inside them to make good use of space. I saw some photos yesterday of a couple who did a destination wedding and had absolutely no decorations what so ever, not even a gazebo or arch way for the ceremony. And it really made me glad that I'm taking the time to find decorations and put things together to make our day extra special. I don't think I would have been happy with no decorations.
  18. @Ashhtayy I love the "proposal" boxes to your wedding party! Those are so adorable. I had originally wanted to do that for mine but I just mailed them cards since we dont see each other very often. I'm sure your wedding party loved them! WIll you FI do anything special for his groomsmen too? I had to force my FI into handing out cute cards that had a bowtie on them that said "your service as a groomsman is required" (or something along those lines). Can't wait to hear more!
  19. @@calgarybride2015 Thanks! Yes I want to do something a little different than the traditional flower boutonniere. I want to incorporate my starfish theme. Somthing along the lines of these ones. So very simlar to the ones marinah84 did. I'm pretty sure I could make one of these for like $5.
  20. Mini update: More craft time for me. I'm not really that crafty of a person even though everyone keeps saying I am. (I'm a graphic designer with a fine arts degree and people think that makes me crafty. Give me a computer and I am crafty for sure). Anyways I worked on our "message in a bottle "guest book". I found a bottle that unscrews in two places and was plastic. This meant it was light and would be easy to pull out the messages for out guests a year later. I wanted it to look a little more beachy and nautical, so I added on some twine. This took like an hour to do because I couldn't figure out how to make it work. I re-did it like 4 times haha. It's still not perfect but it does the trick! Next I worked on the lanterns! I'm going to use these lanterns to line the aisle for the ceremony and I will add more seashells and starfish to the inside of them. I will re-use these and put them on the tables for dinner! I'm pretty pleased with how these turned out! I think next weekend I will work on an attempt to my my fiancé a boutonnière. Figured it's worth an attempt to hand make one before spending like $20 on one online. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. @@TinkerSofi Awe all the jewelry looks gorgeous! I'm glad the hassle is over for you. Hopefully the last minute things just go over smoothly! 3 weeks is so exciting. I'm sure it will fly by! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks @@TNT2015 I'm going to check it out! I kind of want a custom one with me & mrs on it. I've seen ones that have a starfish instead of "&". They are more money than I can really justify though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. @@TNT2015 Thats a great deal! Can you tell me what the sellers name is on eBay? I also love eBay and have bought lots of wedding stuff on there so far. Good to know which sellers are selling quality items.
  24. Ah fair enough @@calgarybride2015 that makes sense. I'm sure after a few drinks I won't even care what they look like by the end of the night. Haha as long as they look good early on for photos, I'll be happy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Update! Chair hangers / tassels: I finally just made the chair hangers! I'm committed to my idea now. I popped on Say yes to the Dress! and started making all 8 of the chair hangers that I will tie into the chair sashes lining the aisle. I'm excited how they turned out. My mum and I were thinking though it maybe needs a little more sparkle but I'm not sure how to add that in. Ideas? I also thought about gluing a tiny orange-ish colored starfish on top of the larger ones. (see photos) thoughts? Groomsmen attire: I received my groomsmen's ties and pocket squares in the mail this week. I ordered them from a seller on Etsy called DQTUK. I actually was able to get a sample swatch mailed to my parents for cheap in Europe and then it was the same cost to buy the ties through Etsy. I found the sample was crazy expensive to order through Etsy when I knew I could get it to my parents cheaper. I had 3 different samples from different sellers so that when they all came it it would be super easy to match to the bridesmaids dresses and then just get that off the list. They match almost 100%. They are a hair darker than the dresses but I love them. My FI said they looked like stripper ties when he saw the sample (because its satin and has a shiny look to it). He ended up buying a new tv for a fireplace we are building so I told him if he wanted the new tv I got to buy these ties hahaha. I think I got the better end of the deal (ties and tv!). We still need to find my FI a tie that is different but matches the colors. Bridesmaids Jewelry: I actually lucked out on these! My parents were travelling the Tenerife over Easter and my mum said she saw a cute little jewelry store there that was closing and they had starfish jewelry in the window majorly discounted. She didn't ask me ahead of buying it but I took her word for it that it was nice. Its super cute actually, now that I can see it in person. I even tried the necklace on myself and love it! Then when I was at West Edmonton Mall for my dress shopping I happened to find these cute little starfish anklets for only $5 each! So I bought each of the girls one plus one for myself as my "something blue"!! Decorations: I had been debating these plates for a long time thinking they weren't necessary but a few weeks ago when we were shopping at a HomeSense I saw them again and just couldn't resist! I will probably only use them for the At Home Reception because they are glass and that would be too heavy to bring with us to Mexico. Then while at HomeSense I found this Starfish/beach Potpourri! I wanted some new stuff in the house anyways so its on display for the summer at our house and then I'll just bag it up and keep it around for the wedding to put out on tables as decorations (maybe on the starfish plates). I just loved the teal starfish! So cute! And it helps that it smells amazing! Table Runners: 3 of my 4 table runners that I ordered off of eBay have arrived so far. I'm sure the 4th one will arrive next week. They are perfect! They match the chair sashes to a tea! I'm so happy. They are also really long so that will be good since I have no idea how big the tables are haha (probably should have asked the WC). Things are coming together! I'm starting to think about escort cards and table numbers now! I'm feeling ahead of the came finally and that's great! I need to go and mail our invitations still this weekend/next week. I need to find out how much postage I need for each one since they are a little heavy from the starfish charms I got. Fingers crossed that it's not crazy expensive.
