  1. @@Janjin You are awesome! Your story is very similar to mine with running (except I've been running since I was a teenager). But i also just ran my first 1/2 marathon 2 weeks ago, and I hear you on the importance of cross training. I was out of exercise for 2 weeks because i didn't strengthen my knees enough for that duration of running. Lesson learnt! I think your goals are great and really realistic! You are really inspirational to me. To go from not being able to run 1 minute to running a full marathon is absolutely amazing! Keep up the amazing work and keep us posted on your progress!
  2. Ooh they are both gorgeous dresses. I like the lace dress most though. Its very sweet and soft looking. I think its cute to make the legal wedding special in someway too!
  3. @@TinkerSofi I know, i'm not sure what I'll do when I'm done planning. I feel like I'll be so lost :S @@maybeoneday Thanks! I somehow developed the "craft" gene when the wedding came around haha. @ Thanks! I'm so happy with how it turned out! I've already put it on our dresser just because i think it looks so cute!
  4. Hey hun. I'm sorry to hear about all of your recent challenges. I know there isn't much that can be said but just know that me and all the other ladies on this forum are here for you 100% whenever you need us. Even if its just to pour out all your feelings. I know this time is tough but you will get through this and it will make you stronger than ever! Keep your head high and fake that smile until you don't have to fake it anymore
  5. @@snswedding2016 You and Sean are already making great steps towards hitting those goals. Thats so great that you guys are doing it together. My FI hates when I want to workout with him. I think my high energy annoys him when he's in the zone lifting weights haha (I don't blame him, i'm a little insane in the gym). The only fitness we do together is running. We ran our first half marathon this summer and he was injured for the last few KM and I told him we went all that way together I wasn't going to cross the finish line without him. I'm so glad we did it together. I think there's a sense of bringing you closer together when you do those types of things together. Even if it's that half hour that you get to catch up on each others day! I've never tried a Barre class but I see them advertised everywhere. Good for you for sticking with something you're passionate about! Keep it up!
  6. @@Wafflesmom Aw thanks! Its so funny because everyone in my family laughs about me doing "crafts" because I'm not crafty at all. But for some reason this wedding business has created a crafting monster! My FI always comes into my office and says "what are you doing? Crafting?" haha. I'm hoping I'll be able to sell a bunch of my crafts after the wedding to make some of the money back too! Hopefully people would want it.
  7. @@jsparrow10 I love your brochure. Do you mind if I copy some of the wording and layouts you used?
  8. @@JoannaBanana Go right on ahead! @calgaybride2015 Thanks! I'm so happy with how cute it is!
  9. Great tip...as i've just made myself a 2nd coffee for the day haha. I love water thought! I continually fill up my water bottle throughout the day. The more I drink the thirstier I get it seems. Just thinking, if ever anyone wants fitness or meal ideas check out my instagram @jpaquin. I post food ideas a workouts fairly often on there.
  10. Finally finished my ring box! I saw a similar one on pinterest and then I noticed them all over Etsy and thought that it would be cheap to make my own instead of spending $40 on it. I made 2 actually. The other one was much larger and I didn't like the color the stain turned out on it as much as this one. Process: Buy box from Michaels: $5 Stain box: Espresso color Burlap inside with space to place rings in between Write on wooden heart : Bought at michaels Glue twine and heart inside
  11. @ Oh awesome. I'm a total yoga noob! I had no idea there were that many types! my MIL wants to teach yoga in her retirement so maybe id take some of her classes!
  12. @ Yay! Another member of our group! Sorry to hear that you struggle with knee issues. I feel you on that. I ran my first 1/2 marathon a couple weeks ago and haven’t been able to do much since because of my knees. I’m sure its not the same but I have a small taste of what you are going through. I’ve heard hot yoga is really great exercise. I wish I liked yoga more but unfortunately I get bored with it too fast and prefer workouts where its super high intensity haha. @@Meandhim Welcome! I love your goals! I’ve heard people doing back to back rounds of 21 day fix and having amazing results. It really teaches people portioned balanced diets! I love it so far! @@calgarybride2015 I will open my diary up. I think it will give me a greater accountability to not cheat haha. I don’t want people to see if I’ve had a bunch of junk food hahaha. @@deecol Awesome goals. I’m like you, I’ve always loved working out, it gives me such a high. My FI and I love being active so much that when we bought a house one of our requirements was the ability to put in a home gym. We did that! We have rubber flooring, multiple different sets of weights, a TRX system, weight bench, and a tv set up for workout videos. We also have a treadmill which we moved out of the gym for space but its still accessible. We also just installed a chin up bar in our garage. Now I just need to get off my butt and start using it all again. I’m sure you can achieve those goals. I have the same fear that i’ll get close to the wedding date and be disappointed in myself. LETS DO THIS!
  13. @@Wafflesmom Thanks for setting this up! I think this will help. I've been in other accountability groups before and it helped me stay on track with things back then. My name is Janelle and I'm getting married on February 23, 2016 at the Grand Sirenis! I used to workout religiously and even taught fitness classes for 6 months last year. Once I got engaged I was so fired up and my FI and I told each other that this wedding was going to be our motivation to get into the best shapes of our lives. Unfortunately we did the opposite. We ate out more, ate more junk food and worked out less. Not quite sure how that happened. Now that I'm 6 months away from my wedding date I think I've re-ignited the fire and I'm feeling ready to get back at it. My goals: - I would like to lose 10-13lbs over the next 6 months by working out religiously again and staying true to a healthy clean nutrition plan. Myfitnesspal: janellepaquin11
  14. @@calgarybride2015 Oh my FI and I got a membership to goodlife last fall and i've only been a handful of times. We thought a membership would motivate us to go more often but turns out we both prefer working out at home. We built an at home gym with a rubber floor and everything. I feel like I should still use my gym membership for the next couple months before it expires though. Never tried juicing. We got a Vitamix for xmas and OMG changed my life. Its so much easier to get in my veggies now. Even throwing in a couple handfuls of spinach into my smoothies is amazing. Last night I made broccoli soup (low sodium chicken broth, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, garlic, and a bit of cheese). This vitamix has changed the way I eat I think. We both use it practically every day. @@acw271011 Awe I'm sorry to hear you're having so many struggles with weight post surgery and with everything you have going on. Its not easy. I know that since I'm so young still I have to stay on top of it because I want to be healthy. I can tell when my diet gets yucky because i just feel terrible. My skin gets bad and worst of all I have a soy intolerance and almost all foods have soy in them So I have to be really careful to just eat mostly natural foods. @@Wafflesmom Oo Where do we find this? haha (nvm just found it)
  15. @@Meandhim @@calgarybride2015 Its a beachbody program and you can use Shakeology or not. I have it, I only like the chocolate one. I wouldn't say it makes a huge difference though. I also use Vega Protein because I struggle to eat enough protein in my diet which isn't good. I am also a junk food craver. Its such a weakness. For me its chips and Vietnamese food haha. Will power!!!
  16. @@acw271011 Perfect, then my file should work. I can't wait to see how yours turn out!
  17. @@JoannaBanana Thats awesome that the city hall will fit you guys in! I wonder if I should call the Calgary City hall and see if they can do that for us since we really don't want anything special.
  18. @@acw271011 was it a template they gave you or did you make it yourself? I designed one myself but if they have a template that might be easier. I've been printing all my stuff at staples so I know the colors would match.
  19. @@calgarybride2015 Have you ever looked into the program called 21 day fix? I'm starting to follow the eating plan (not so much the workouts) but the eating plan is actually really easy to follow and teaches you how much you should be eating and to eat a balanced diet. The first week I did it, I was seriously shocked how much food I had to eat. I actually struggled and wouldn't want the food but I dropped weight that week so fast. Might we worth looking it up. Even if you don't want to buy the program you can research the eating plan and find out more about it through google.
  20. @@JoannaBanana haha I love that the toughest part of this process was having to put the Starbucks aside. That would be my FI and I too haha. I was in the same thought as you thinking we could just go to city hall and be done with it until I discovered this site. I'm going to start planning that part of the wedding stuff soon I think. Once I can get my FI's attention haha (renovations control his life right now) I hope you can get Sept 12! That will be so exciting and its so soon! yay!
  21. So true! I know losing 13lbs is not the same as your amazing accomplishment of losing 125lbs (Congrats btw thats absolutely amazing). My FI and I always watch extreme weight loss every tuesday and it's so amazing and the fact that these people can maintain their weight loss is amazing. But they also say that on the show that it is the hardest part of weight loss. So true. Our bodies change as we get older and that means we have to learn to adapt and change what we knew worked in the past. I have confidence you can do it and make it work. If you have the support system you can do it! I'm positive!
