Hi all!
Quite of a topic bump here --but I just want to make sure this information is out on every Blue Lens Caribe post out there: Blue Lens Caribe Photography has been rebranded as WeddingDayStory in Riviera Maya.
And who's WeddingDayStory, you might ask.
We are a family of wedding photographers & videographers devoted to celebrating the simple romance of weddings in the sun. We have been in business for 10 years now, from Dominican Republic & Costa Rica to Mexico (first in Cabo, now Riviera Maya). So, Blue Lens Caribe has ceased to exist as brand for the last two years. It just got together with WeddingDayStory, but the latter name was the one that reflected who we are the best, so we kept it.
Helping our friends out is a big deal for us-so if you have any questions, need any information, or just want to have a quick chat, don't hesitate to reach out to us! On top of the channels that appear on our signature below, you can also choose to schedule a call with us, no strings attached To do so, click here: https://calendly.com/weddingdaystory
Happy planning everyone!

Hi brides!
This is a biggie for couples traveling to our beautiful home and we love sharing our recommendations. Plus, we are serious lovers of good food.
For more local recommendations for your honeymoon in Riviera Maya, download our free guide: http://blog.weddingdaystory.com/honeymoon-activities-in-riviera-maya
Mexican
Gorgeous ambiance. This is Mexican food at its finest.
Here, you'll find gourmet Mayan cuisine. An experience worth having in the Riviera Maya https://www.tripadvisor.com.mx/Restaurant_Review-g150812-d1032967-Reviews-Yaxche_Maya_Cuisine-Playa_del_Carmen_Yucatan_Peninsula.html
Caguamería & Marisquería. Our favorite: figurín de atún fresco.
Yummy fresh fish toast, tacos & a trendy atmosphere.
This one is a great breakfast spot too, for that after-night out breakfast at 11 am Might have a bit of a wait time during the weekend so be prepared!
Grab a quick lunch here if you like to hang out where the locals do!
Great for a date or night out, Mexican dishes combined with seafood and a nice spot to stay for drinks after.
Seafood
Local's favorite for fresh fish. Only opens for lunch. Not "fancy", just really good local seafood!
Have dinner here.
Trendy, on 5th. Try the fish burger!
Sushi
2x1 rolls Monday to Wednesday! Our favorite Sushi spot on 5th.
Don't leave without checking out the terrace.
Vegan
Italian
Brand new here in Playa, its a big hit already.
This one is a Playa classic go to spot for Italian food. Right on 5th.
We recommend the tagliatelle ai frutti di mare or the carbonara. And the chocolate volcano for dessert!
International Food
This is a restaurant that emerges within the depths of a naturally formed cavern, so you’ll find yourself surrounded by stalactites and flow-stones as you sit down for your meal. This original restaurant specializes in Pre-Hispanic, Mexican and international cuisine. If you have only one night to go out and must pick one spot, we say this one.
Amazing friendly atmosphere, signature cocktails & gourmet dishes. One of our favorite spots in Playa.
https://es.foursquare.com/v/afrodisiako/5205615f498e43c7cde8926d
Watch the moon rise while you have a romantic dinner right on the beach.
Asian fusion, thai & vegan. Must haves: Goat cheese rolls & a cocktail!
Another local's favorite, here you won't get a menu (you have to stand and read it off the wall) and you'll be encouraged to leave your cell phone behind so that you can have a nice conversation. The food comes in BIG portions and the natural shakes are great. Family oriented!
Veneuzuela in Playa del Carmen. Tasty arepas & friendly hosts.
Let us know which one you liked best!

A note to all brides thinking about doing this on their weddings --- do it! Your photographer will love you.
Although we understand that guests and family usually want to take their own pictures and capture memories of their own during the ceremony, it is the one special moment you have all gathered there to share, so it only makes sense to ask your loved ones to be there. In the moment with you.
Make sure to ask your photographer if they can provide you with the service of uploading images to a private, online gallery.
What we do is send the couple a link to where the images will be, with the option of having guests sign up to receive an update once the images are posted (which is only 7 to 12 business days after the wedding). That way, everyone can access the ceremony images, share them on Facebook or print them out
We hope the unplugged wedding trend is here to stay!
This one post that became viral says it very well too: http://www.today.com/style/unplugged-weddings-photographers-anti-phone-rant-goes-viral-t55546

Hi brides!
We second @@Wafflesmom's mention of paperless post. I actually have been getting these RSVP's over the e-mail for a friend's wedding this year, and found it extremely convenient. Apart from viewing all necessary information right there, you can send direct messages to the couple and everything gets copied on e-mails.
There are many more! Check them out: http://www.bridebox.com/blog/best-rsvp-websites-for-wedding-guests/
Best of luck, everybody!

Hi brides!
This is a gorgeous location where we were in-house vendors for a quite some time. Happy to share images below for your reference & inspiration! You can also see more here:
@@heben42, when are you getting married? I'm also guessing @@lab209 might have had her wedding already, but just in case anyone else is wondering, this is not a particularly windy location around June (actually, here in Playa, June is a very nice and warm month). Our beaches are not particularly windy (nothing like say, Aruba) and the Paradisus has ceremony locations such as the Gaby bridge or the Gazebo that are very secluded, so if you are coming anywhere near the rainy season (mid September/October) you can ask your WP about those options.
Here are some images for ya'll:
If there's anything at all we can help out with, information about Riviera Maya that you might be needing, don't hesitate to ask! We are happy to help.

Hi all!
Bumping this for an update here- based on our experiences with resorts and what our WeddingDayStory couples tell us, this IS indeed a possibility, but, in most cases, it can be talked over with your resort's WP. If you absolutely don't want the resort photographers shooting your day, communicate with your wedding planner and let them know what you feel. If resort policy is not making you happy and you feel you are left without choice, that can affect your overall wedding experience and venues are very good at trying to compensate for these kinds of situations.
We hope our two cents help!
Happy planning!

Hola a todos!
Amazing information on this thread - looks like @@Kfred, @@tpenner & @@MrsOHara had their questions answered. We'll be looking forward to any updates in case we can help out with contacts for other vendors or with anything we can add from our experience shooting weddings there.
We also wanted to share some images of our latest one with an awesome couple, Ronda & Heith. They got married at the Cenote, which is a gorgeous location as well. Sandos Eco is a great option if you dream of getting married surrounded by nature & jungle!

Hi BDW forum!
Though we are sure OP already took care of the starfish issue since it's over 4 years old, we wanted to leave this helpful link here for future brides going trough the same starfish-related dilema!
http://www.weddingdaystory.com/blog/2016/03/08/3957/beach-wedding-diy-projects/
Among those DIY projects, you'll find a link with instructions to make your own starfish.. They look virtually the same as the real ones, you'll have no issues with flying them whatsoever... and, most importantly, you won't be disrupting any eco-system by using starfish in your wedding decorations
Happy planning everyone!

Hey there @VancouverGal!
Welcome to the forum! The resort you chose has really nice locations. As fellow photographers were mentioning, there are many options for the reception lightning setups. We would recommend you to steer clear of laser effects in the lights (should they offer this to you) since they can become both a photographer and videographer's nightmare!
These are highlights from a previous wedding we shot at the resort. Do you have any photo or video related questions we can help you with?

Is a Caribbean wedding legally recognized in the US?
in The Islands Weddings
Posted
Hi brides!
Here's some info about the marriage licenses and their validity internationally:
Validity Outside of Mexico:
"Your Marriage Certificate will be valid world-wide, BUT you should
get your certificate 'legalised' in Mexico to ensure it is legally
accepted when you get back home. The process is the reverse of getting
your Native documentation legalised by the necessary authorities (e.g.
Foreign Office) for marriage in Mexico (see below); The registry
office in Mexico will tell you where this can be done locally."
http://usmarriagelaws.com/search/caribbean/mexico_city/index.shtml
http://www.mexicolaw.com/Marriage%20in%20Mexico.htm
Though that's specific to Mexico, where we operate, you can find general info here for US citizens getting married elsewhere: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/abroad/events-and-records/marriage.html
Good luck tying the knot!
