  1. I have narrowed down my final choices and this resort is a finalist. I haven't been able to find any information on this forum about this resort! Does anyone have some feedback to offer? I'd love to hear from you. Edit: Ok I found one! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/47828-leslies-grand-riviera-princess-review/
  2. Thanks ladies. If I go Riu it will be Yucatan, or Palace Mexico. I think. Probably. Resort hunting is not for the faint of heart.
  3. Agreed, definitely agree. I'm just guessing they don't intend to go. Like I did before I think she should just have her friend talk to them and have all the awkwardness alleviated.
  4. "Hey instead of going to the pool bar and meeting girls, let's get dressed up and watch strangers get married!" - said no 18 year old ever
  5. But do you know how much of the services are shared amongst the six Rius? IE bars/restaurants?
  6. They probably don't even want to go to the wedding. They just want to drink and meet girls amongst themselves. Since your friend is his sister let her deliver the news. They are siblings she won't sugar coat it.
  7. Sorry Cablelove, we totally crashed your thread. I haven't totally given up on Hard Rock but I'm working on a new plan. Which is stay, and get married at Riu Palace Mexico and have any budget conscious guests stay at one of the neighbouring Rius. If that works. That's my current area of investigation.
  8. Hey ladies! I was wondering if anyone has stayed in either of the Riu Palaces (Mexico/Riviera Maya) and had guests who stayed in one of the other Rius (Tequila, Playacar, Yucatan, Lupita). I was looking to have my wedding at Riu Palace Mexico, and the price is okay - for us - but want to keep my guest budget down. If they can stay at the other resorts for less and we can all interact then I could theoretically have my cake and eat it too. So my question is, how much of a hassle is it for guests of the various Rius to interact? Can we visit each other's buffets/bars? I've heard that the Tequila is where all the other Rius go to party and I'm okay with that idea. Anyone with cross Riu experience? Thanks!

  10. I messaged my friend's agent and she gave me a bunch of prices from $1200 - $1500. Your resort was on the list! I have my research cut out for me now. Tripadvisor and I are going to get a work out.
  11. Turns out that Hard Rock Riveira Maya and Riu Palace Mexico are about the same price - $1800. Going to have to talk to the man about lower expectations and raising the budgets and finding somewhere in the middle of that where we're comfortable.
  12. I think you're right. I've been thinking Riu Palace and I think I need to bring myself back down to that level. Man. Hard Rock is nice...
  13. I would love to book either this Hard Rock, or the one in Riveira Maya. My SO wants to keep it under $1300 for our guests. Guesstimating we'll have about 40. We're in Toronto. I was planning on April but I'd move the date if it makes either resort viable.
