@@deecol thank you. That's what I like about it - it isn't typical. It's what I would have picked regardless of where we were getting married. It's satin so definitly isn't a light material. We have to order the dress with sleeves so they will come as shown in the picture but we are entertaining the idea of removing the cap sleeve. About $40 in alterations, less restricting and less material. Could change the whole look drastically.

Deecol's Planning Thread - Gbp - April 30Th, 2016
ashhtayy replied to deecol's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
@@deecol I still have to go back and catch up on all your posts prior to my hiatus but wanted to tell you I saw your post about "sophisticated resort wear" and quoted it to my father tonight. My mum thought it was the perfect way to put it although my dad followed up with "does that mean I can't wear my bathing suit?" lol -
@@snswedding2016 I'm so far behind and am just making my way through everything I missed on your thread. - In LOVE with your band. So unique and so beautiful. - I love Sean's ring. Also quite unique and I love the reasons he likes that it's tungsten. - BDR Updates: >Thank you so much for these. So reassuring each and every time a bride comes back from AF. >Fingers crossed they follow your advice and keep 1910 open later. >Room service drinks - good tip with picking up a few bottles. I wasn't sure how many times they would deliver drinks to a room. >Were the monkeys friendly? Seriously though lol A few guests are nervous about how in your face they seem to be. >Your centrepieces look beautiful. So glad you got to test them out. - Happy one year one month and a day anniversary of your engagement! We got engaged in October too! The 29th - Your flowers look AMAZING! My girls and I are starting to do a lot of research into real touch flowers now. Yours make me want to do it even more. Perfection. - Your letters look great. So crafty. Your theme flows flawlessly and I love your favours. - Just did table planning with my fiancé last night and it worked out that we had 8-10 per table. On your advice I'll switch the 10s to 8-9 where I can. Thanks! - Sean is very handsome! Love the outfit he picked. Beautiful couple. - Sending positive thoughts your way. Hope your mom is doing better soon. Can't wait to see what else is to come!

@@vancouverpetunia I actually emailed the store after the post and she got back to me early this morning saying she put an order in for a satin Sorella Vita dress in blush. It'll be a different dress but I'll get to see a dress in that colour. Perfect option. It should be in by the end of the month which also leaves lots of time. In the meantime I will pop in a few local stores that carry the line and see if I get lucky and find one. Great tip! My mum was surprised with the selection thinking we'd want less fabric with the wedding being in Mexico. I think she figured strapless. I hope they don't boil. Only one way to find out Glad you like the dress. I needed some reassurance. I also fell in love with the back. So pretty.

Okay so I have been COMPLETELY absent from this site for a very long time (since the day we took possession of our house). I've wanted to log on so many times but have found myself WAY too overwhelmed. Between my new position at work, my FI's new job and us moving into our house I have done zero wedding planning. I LOVE seeing what you ladies are dong because it encourages me to get going but at the same time it freaks me out because I am so behind. A few months ago my maid of honour planned a bridesmaids outing for today. They booked two appointments and made reservations for a lunch in between. The first store we went to was perfect. It had a bridesmaid room that had 5 change rooms and its own private pedestal for the girls to showcase their beautiful gowns. After I saw them in this dress, nothing compared. What do you ladies think? I have also included a picture of a necklace I like that will add something special to look. It's a Sorella Vita dress. Style number is 8562. They only had black in the store but the dress does come in blush. Although I don't love the photos of the blush dress (seems SO pink and I am not a pink girl), the dress itself looks amazing on all the girls. I'm terrified to order a dress in a colour I haven't seen in person but I think we may bite the bullet and place the order. I will post on your threads soon. Can’t wait to catch up on all your work!

@@hirvine83 I'm getting married at AF June 7th, 2016. Selecting the resort was definitely the hardest part...until I laid my eyes on the Sky Deck and then I was sold. Although I too haven't done much planning we are booked for a 4:30 ceremony followed by a cocktail hour at the sky bar and reception on the Sky Deck. Just an FYI if you do go with AF - there is a fee for the Sky Deck. We booked and got it for $1700 but I believe it's gone up to $1800. In my mind it's well worth it for that fantastic view Happy Planning!

Deecol's Planning Thread - Gbp - April 30Th, 2016
ashhtayy replied to deecol's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
@@deecol yay! love that you started a planning thread! my FI was on the road for three weeks straight when I started mine and I had nothing but time on my hands. coincidently he's in NYC for work right now and I'm back on here full time. I wish there were more hours in the day so I could read everyone's threads in detail and update my own lol obviously I LOVE your story. we too met and then lived thousands of miles from one and other for quite a long time. timing is everything in life and I'm so happy we were both in the right place at the right time. col sounds like a sweetheart. Love the proposal. we also had a party (halloween) planned for the day after we got engaged. It was so amazing to share our engagement with all our closest friends right away. Dress pics please Your deal for your trip is amazing! So jealous. -
I totally missed this thread until tonight. Okay, here goes: My name is Ashley and I'm 29 years old. I'm getting married June 7th, 2016 at Azul Fives. I was my heaviest in my third and fourth year of university (approximately 15lbs more than I am now). I attribute that to my poor food choices and my overindulgence in fun activities. That was in 2008-2009. Currently I play hockey year round (one night a week) and baseball in the summers (also one night a week). My fiancé loves the gym and convinced me to sign up just over a year ago. Up until 2 months ago we would go to the gym together anywhere between 3 and 5 times per week for anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour and a half. I use an app called JeFit and alternate through their thousands of workout plans because without that I wouldn't have a clue what I was doing at a gym. For me being active at sports or the gym does not keep me fit; it is only when I watch what I eat that I see the difference in my body. My fitness pal had me on a 1200 calorie eating plan. I saw changes in my body that I loved in no time. I'm clearly writing here because I quit MFP. It works and it works well but I lost the motivation. With us both getting promoted and buying a new house I have completely fallen off. Fallen off from the gym and from MFP. At this point I am content with the number I see on the scale. My goal is to tighten up and feel comfortable in my own skin. I want to be married in Mexico feeling amazing in my dress and I want to feel comfortable walking around my friends and family in my bikini. My weaknesses: Coke Zero (I drink it like it is water) My goal: Tighten up My plan: Get back to the gym. Sign up for classes with a friend (accountability). Maybe classes will get me more excited to work out? Start using MFP again. Skate my ass off every week at hockey. Drink water NOT coke zero. Stop eating McDonalds once a week (omg I love McDonalds). Get more sleep (better sleep schedule). Meal prep every Sunday. I thought with our wedding around the corner I'd be more motivated than ever. That has not been the case. I thought buying my wedding dress would get me on track but that was two weeks ago and I haven't been to the gym once. Is there hope for me? lol I sure hope so!

@@RivieraBride15 congratulations! so sorry to read about the loss of your brother. I can't even imagine how much that would affect you and your family. Love that you and your fiancé are honouring them at your wedding. I plan to do the same for our grandparents that have passed away. do you mind sharing where you purchased your real touch flowers? it's an idea i've been thinking about. they look so beautiful. have you looked into the best way to pack them? that's a concern of mine. good luck with your planning during the next 7 weeks.

@@calgarybride2015 thank you!! obviously the model is gorgeous but I also don't love the pictures of her in it. I figured it was the colour and the missing belt that I didn't like. Looks too...non-bride'ish' in those pictures. ps. kim, we're best friends after that compliment.

@ SO exciting. we take possession tomorrow but the BIG move is next Wednesday because Mike is NYC for work (poor him, right?). thanks! i love the dress. when i got home and looked at the pictures i was less than impressed though BUT i can remember how I felt in it and that was pure joy. lets just say my mom and MOH should stick to their day jobs and leave photography up to the pros (ps. i would have taken the exact same shots - it's so hard to get a good picture because the lighting is so different in the bridal stores...that's my excuse anyways) @@Wafflesmom thank you! i'll keep an eye out for your bands. so exciting!

@@Wafflesmom & @ i swear i'm not always this cynical haha you mentioned the dress getting lost or sold...those are much more plausible than a fire/out-of-business...and i hadn't even thought of those. i need to get my dress ASAP i bought my dress at Tom Jeon at Steeles and Weston. I thought that was Woodbridge but apparently it is in Vaughan!? i laughed out loud when reading your comment about walking down the aisle smelling like fried chicken lol also, adorable that he didn't want to zip you up because he didn't want to know what it felt like. when i asked mike if he wanted to know anything about my dress, mostly because I was excited and wanted to talk about it, his response was "it's white and it's a dress - that's all i need to know". i then had to break the news to him that it was in fact ivory - his response? "those are basically the same colours". oh boys!

@@Wafflesmom is your dress at home with you? I'm scared to bring mine home lol I want to get it out of the boutique because I'm paranoid that something tragic will happen like a fire or they'll go out of business. How terrible am I to even write that? It's a very reputable Boutique but you never know (especially because they took a cash deal lol). I think if I have it at home I will try it on 5000x and find something wrong with it. I'm thinking stashing it at my parents might be the best way to go.

Hi Ladies! I hate commiting and then having to bail but I've put October 2nd in my calendar and hope it works out. I'd love to meet up with you ladies as you've all inspired me so much. Not sure I'll have much to share as wedding planning has come to a complete halt but maybe this meet up will motivate me to get back at it. Talk soon.
