  1. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions... I had sent about 10 questions to our Wedding Designer and instead of responding to all of them she felt we should schedule a call. Maribel and I spoke from 4:30 - 5:30 last night and she filled me in on everything I needed clarification on. She was so lovely to talk to. Dinner - My mum and I found the menus so confusing. Really they're not but we couldn't believe you get as much food as you do. We couldn't understand why it didn't say "pick two of five options" but that's because we don't have to pick - we get it all. Because we are getting married on the Sky Deck we cannot have a plated meal. Initially we were pretty bummed but now I am grateful because it limits our decisions. We've settled on a family-style dinner. One thing I dread when going to a restaurant is having to pick one meal from 75 and luckily now it doesn't feel that way. Our options are international, mexican or italian. We're deciding between international and italian. Both options are attached. Welcome Drink - We picked the bellini. My fingers were crossed it was served frozen but they don't have a blender on the sky deck so no luck. Our WD said it was her favourite drink and that it is a soft pink colour. I like the idea of it matching our wedding colours lol We're going to try it the day we arrive and if for some reason we don't like it we can switch it the next day when we meet with our on-site WC. Hor D'oeuvres - Very confused. Way too many options. I've attached the two we are considering - mexican donkey bar and white glove service. Apparently we can mix between the two. Timing - Initially we were getting married at 4PM, cocktails 5PM to 6PM, pictures 5PM to 6PM, reception 6PM to 10PM and paying extra to keep the bar open until 1AM. The WD recommends switching this up - one to save costs and two to give us more mingling time with our guests. New Plan: married at 4PM, cocktails 5PM to 7PM, pictures 5PM to 6PM then join cocktail from 6PM to 7PM, reception 7PM to 11PM and pay for only one additional hour of bar service. Ladies, what do you think of the new plan? Any suggestions or feedback is appreciated. GI Freebie - Although our TA said the cocktail hour was the best value the WD says the voucher to the spa is more valuable. The spa voucher gets your hair and makeup trial, hair and makeup wedding day, mani and pedi for bride and for one other member of the bridal party. I haven't priced out spa services but once I do I'll decide where to spend the voucher. @@snswedding2016 - what did you do? I think @@TinkerSofi took the spa voucher. Other - - Do we need a cake? They cost a fortune. And no way I'm subbing cupcakes in for cake - they're $7 US each. I laughed when I read that. Outrageous. - Need to decide between bringing silk florals or purchasing from the resort. - Waiting on DJ prices That's it for now. The ball is rolling
  2. Flask Update Ordered on the 9th and arrived at our door on the 15th. There isn't much to them but I'm happy with how they turned. They are exactly as shown and will serve their purpose. After shipping, the exchange rate and import charges they weren't as much of a steal as I had planned. In total we paid $142.63 CAD, so $23.77 CAD each. Not bad, not great.
  3. Hrmmm great question and many valid points. Before reading this I thought sending invites was a waste because people that have made their deposits are saying they intend to come. On the flip side we have a Nonna that thinks we are crazy to not send invites and she's requesting we send them to people that weren't even sent STDs. For her it's a courtesy - they consider themselves too old to travel but at least the invite was made. What I've thought of doing is sending invites to those Nonna suggested as well as my own grandma that can't make it and then sending a 'information packet/yay Mexico' "invite" to those that say they're coming or have paid their deposits. I'm conflicted too.
  4. Looks like I may be the only bride still in the decision making process but hopefully this helps future brides that pop in. I was speaking to my Karisma Wedding Designer today, Maribel - who was a delight i'd like to add - and she explained the fees for the sky deck much differently to me than my TA had. Perhaps I misunderstood in the first place but because I found it confusing I'm thinking others may too. For brides interested in the Sky Deck: - Fee to get married (ceremony) on the Sky Deck was $1700 and is now $1800 - Fee to have your dinner (reception) on the Sky Deck is an additional $15 per person on top of buffet or family style dinner fee (ex. $40 per person for dinner + $15 per person = $55 per person) - You do not pay the $1700 (or $1800) to just have your dinner up there. $1700 (or $1800) fee only applies to those marrying on the Sky Deck. - If your party is around 60 such as ours you cannot have your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception on the Sky Deck - there is no room for them to set dinner up. Works fine for us because we will have our Cocktail Hour down one flight of stairs and the Sky Terrace (Sky Bar). - Additional $8 per person applies if having your cocktail hour on the Sky Deck on top of the meal price and $15 fee. I was clear on all of this except that you do not pay the $1700 (or $1800) if you do not get married (ceremony) on the Sky Deck. Hope this helps someone!
  5. @@calgarybride2015 love that your husband is a leaf fans - especially since you live in Calgary last year my brother bought me a new hockey stick for Christmas but didn't want to make it obvious so he filled a box with paper and wrote on the inside flap something like "haha you get nothing for Christmas - just kidding go look under mom's bed". seems silly but it was super cute and fun - I ran upstairs so excited to find the stick. anyways, it brought the kid out in me and may do the same for your husband
  6. Emailed my WC at 1AM this morning and she got back to me at 5PM tonight with this information - so quick! Posted in the Azul Fives 2015 forum but reposting here in case this helps any other AF brides-to-be. I am hoping to buy runners and a cake table cloth from someone on here and made it my goal to get the dimensions of all the tables before she got back. Done and done. I hope they work out
  7. Hi ladies, I know @@snswedding2016 posted a picture with the dimensions of the garden chair but I wanted to include a few more I was able to get from my WC. Reposting the garden chair dimensions again so that there is no need to look for it
  8. @@acw271011 thank you!! i miss my dress and can't wait to see it again appreciate the tips for belts. i haven't looked on those sites for belts but will definitely check them out. i was nervous about the BM dresses but appreciate the kinds remarks. i love them and all the girls look great in the dress. the necklace adds that little bit of bling the outfit needs. so excited to see it all together. i cannot believe how fast time has flown. crazy to think that soon we will be the ones leaving for our wedding. until then we'll take it one day at a time, create a solid list of to-do items and then work through it all one-by-one.
  9. Zazzle.com got us again! I received an email that said they were having a 60% off flask sale that ends at midnight. I showed Mike a few and he picked one that has the text I like and a colour that goes with our wedding - shocker! Kind of a cliche gift for the best men and groomsmen but they'll make for cute photos $26.95 each on for $10.78 each (US of coarse)
