  1. @@Wafflesmom I love the personalized wine bottles SO cute and thoughtful! I just sent personalized cards to my bridesmaids, but most of them live in a different town/state. The wine bottles are so nice!
  2. @@stephygirl How late does the sky bar stay open? (And its only one side that is open to the public, right? So, if my reception is on the Sky Bar South, we could just go to the sky bar north when my reception ends?)
  3. @@FutureMrsGarcia Thanks so much for the info! I'm going to hope to stay in the 90-95 range.
  4. @@stephygirl thanks for all of the info! I think I will wait a bit and see what our final numbers are... I think some people who intend to come won't actually come (is it bad that I wouldn't be too disappointed if we had less people? HA!). So far only 75 have actually booked rooms. The picture on the link you sent me said 180 with a buffet on the Sky Bar South... however we really like to dance, so I want plenty of room for the dance floor!
  5. @ yes I did ask her and she said 200... which doesn't seem possible (not that I need to fit 200 comfortably, but I do need space for 100). I just emailed her again to confirm that that includes space for a dance floor, DJ, all of the tables, etc. It's so pretty that I want it to work out, but I'm terrified of getting there and needing to change everything at the last minute.
  6. @ It looks small to me too! Now I am nervous... I've told her several times though that we would have around 100 people. I think we'll have 90 at the least and maybe up to 110. I wonder if I should just request a location change? It is such a pretty space though.
  7. @@stephygirl Thanks! That pinterest board is definitely helpful. Does the sky bar north have a pool as well? Are those open during the day? It does look small to me, but I'm going to try to just go with what they say and hope for the best! haha
  8. @@stephygirl Did you have to rent lights for the rehearsal dinner? I'm glad to know that your guests enjoyed it without decor - the rentals get so expensive. My WC told me that the sky bare south can have up to 200 for a buffet dinner... Gama (where I'm renting lighting and decor from) also seemed okay with it... so I guess I will just go with it! I'm having a welcome party on Thursday night before my wedding and its scheduled for the sky bar north... I'm slightly worried about it just looking like my reception. I hope the reception will still be special!
  9. @@stephygirl Did you have centerpieces for your rehearsal dinner? I can't decide how much decorating I need to do for that.
  10. @@jj575757 We are having ours between the ceremony and the reception - that will give time for guests to enjoy a cocktail while we take pictures with family/bridal party. Most weddings I've been to have it at that time. However, I have a friend getting married in March, and she plans to have a cocktail reception before the ceremony. Just remember that it's YOUR wedding, so I think you can do whatever you want! @@stephygirl You may have already mentioned this, but did you have centerpieces on the table for your rehearsal dinner?
  11. @@stephygirl She did tell me that it was large enough... but maybe I should check with her again. My wedding coordinator is Yanet. I'm going to email her now. Thanks
  12. I'm so glad that you started a planning thread! Your story is great and I love the proposal! I can't wait to read more about your planning
  13. Thanks for such a detailed review! It made me get so excited about my wedding all over again! Is the rooftop pool where the skybar south is located? What is the difference in the skybar south and skybar north areas (other than south and north location haha). My reception is currently scheduled for the skybar south and our welcome party is on the skybar north a couple of days before. Thanks!
  14. Welcome to the forum! Your story is super exciting! The only advice I have to TRY not to get your hopes up (I know that is super tough). If you get your hopes up and it doesn't happen, it may ruin your trip (this has happened to several of my friends). Just remember that if it doesn't happen it may be because he has something planned that he thinks is more special to you guys and it will be perfect whenever is proposes! Let us know how it goes and have a great trip either way!!
  15. Do any of you ladies have wedding guests not staying at the resort? Some of my fiance's family members are considering staying somewhere else that is less expensive, and I was wondering how the day pass works. Do they pay for that when they arrive at the resort or is that something that will be billed to our final bill?
  16. My future mother in law has been asking me what color she needs to wear to the wedding. I had not planned on assigning her anything specific to wear (as long as it does not clash with the wedding colors), but she acts as if it's normal for me to tell her what color to wear and insists that I do. Are you all assigning colors to the moms and if so how are you choosing those colors?
  17. @@yycbride2016 the dress is GORGEOUS! I love it. it looks great on you! Congrats on finding the perfect one!
  18. @@Jenjennyjen I went to Moon Palace in December, but chose Beach Palace for my wedding! Moon Palace was awesome and we absolutely loved it. It's huge and has several good restaurants, a golf course, dolphin swim, putt putt golf, three pools, a night club... a lot of amenities! However, I chose Beach Palace for my wedding because it is a lot smaller, so I thought it would be a little more intimate/easier for guests to find each other and get to know each other. Plus, it has a better beach. (Although the beach at Moon Palace wasn't terrible... we still enjoyed it!) Both resorts are great - I think it just depends on what you are looking for in your wedding resort. Let me know if you have any questions. I spent A LOT of time on trip advisor and looking through the threads on this website before making my decision.
  19. @@stephygirl Thanks so much for the info! Did you rent lighting and ipod player for your rehearsal dinner too? I'm definitely having plenty of lighting for my reception, but I'm wondering how much I need for the Welcome Dinner and Rehearsal Dinner. Also, did you bring the votive candles or rent from Zuniga? If you brought them, did you WC set them up for you? Thank you SO much for the info!! I can't wait to hear more! Congrats!
  20. @@yycbride2016 - I was going to say the same thing @@acw271011 just said! The wedding dress I ordered is actually 4 sizes larger than my normal dress size. I'll definitely have to have it altered, but it's apparently really easy/common to have it altered up to 2 sizes down.
  21. @@Jenjennyjen you get a free dinner reservation with the complimentary package - so that can be your reception! I think for an actual private event you have to have 25 people, however, i've heard of girls paying for a couple of extra people and it working out. If you get 75 room nights you get free unlimited private events... I think with 60 room nights you get a dinner and maybe a little less room nights a cocktail hour? You should go to the beach palace thread and ask the question! There are definitely girls on the thread who have had weddings with less than 25 people and could answer for you!
  22. @@Jenjennyjen I don't know anything about the Grand Palladium, but I've been to Moon Palace and it's great! I'm getting married at Beach Palace, but it was the same amenities (complimentary package, etc) as Moon Palace. They really have great wedding packages! You should look at the Beach Palace thread on this site. A lot of Moon Palace brides on on teh thread as well. It was really helpful for me when I was choosing a resort!
  23. I hate that you had a bad dress shopping experience, but do not be discouraged or increase your budget! You can find a beautiful dress in the $500-$1000 range, and you definitely don't need to look at bridesmaids dresses! I have several friends whose dresses have been around $500 (mine was $1100 - so not much outside of your budget either). I agree that David's Bridal is a great place to try. They have a large selection of dresses under $1000. Also, if there are any consignment shops in your city try those! Sometimes they have dresses that were overstocked at a regular bridal shop, but still never worn and just for a discounted price. The dress you posted is beautiful!
  24. @@yycbride2016 you are going to have SO much fun! I do have my dress already. The best advice I received before I was dress shopping was not to be disappointed if you don't find something that you are 100% sure about. I did actually find my dress the first day I went dress shopping, but it was a much more difficult decision than I had anticipated and I had to go home and think about two that I really liked (I ended up purchasing a few days later). I had envisioned myself having a say yes to the dress moment, but there were so many beautiful dresses that I couldn't commit that day! You will have so much fun, though! It also made everything very real to me once I had the dress.
