I love how you "proposed" to your girlfriends. I wish I did. My sister already new she was my MOH and I just said to my best friend "you know you're a bridesmaid right?" lol. She's getting married the same month as me and in our endless wedding convos I said "Who's your Maid of Honour?" She's says "well, I was going to ask you... thanks for ruining it Dee" LOL so I pretty much killed both. Her fiancé got super creative and gave one of his groomsmen a box that said "Will you spot me on my wedding day?" and the box was filled with Muscle Mlk, Beer and a bunch of other guy stuff. They def showed us up lol I can't wait to see the rest of your planning! xo

$800 for 100 invites!?! You are not cheap, that is crazy! I made my own boarding pass invitations too, everything cost under $70. You gotta cut corners where you can when planning a wedding! Congrats on your date! You are getting married 12 days after me! Grand Sirenis was one of my choices too, I narrowed it down to that and Grand Bahia Principe and ended up going with GBP because of the cost for our UK guests coming and we got a crazy good quote that was cheaper than Sirenis and beat Romantic Planet's quote by $130pp. Looking forward to reading your planning thread. I agree with ladies. Start looking around the forum, getting some ideas and reading resort reviews. You have so much time it will be nice to get things going slowly and not have to rush towards the end. Definitely contact a travel agent, they may not have prices for 2017 at the moment but they can help you narrow down your resort choices. Good luck!

@@Maggietron I was thinking the same. My wedding is a month after @@Scarlett123 and although would like to get the reception dinner booked and secured it's all a waiting game. I'm sure it will work out in the end

@@calgarybride2015 Crazy isn't it! lol can't help but laugh. We're expecting a few guests to book on their own after the deadline, and we still have a few from the UK that need to book, and may have some stragglers book in towards the end. When do you think I should make my final RSVP date for? I've accepted that those people who book super last minute won't get favours etc that I need to preorder.

Update: My girlfriend messages me the day after the booking deadline "Sorry! I forgot to call the travel agent, I've been so sick the past two days"... Then posts a picture of herself with a glass of wine on instagram 5 hours after messaging me. I thought that was too funny not to share. Haven't had much communication since, it's up to her if she wants to come. I'm not stressing. We had a couple more people book since and I couldn't be happier My Dad's family have started responding. Mostly declines but at least it's a response. And I found out through the travel agent that 2 of them have been in contact with her, they still haven't said anything to me but good to know they're considering. My TA extended the deadline by another 2 weeks so they may book. Again, if they don't, I'm still super happy and excited!

@@KatieMcBride I was so sad reading your story. Although I haven't gone through exactly what you have, I have definitely had people closest to me let me down during this process. "Close" friends not even ask how wedding planning is going and family not even responding. My mom keeps saying that weddings are when a lot of peoples true colours shine through, and I'll learn so much about my circle of friends and family. All I can say because I'm in a similar position (also got engaged Dec 2014, getting married Apr 2016) is to focus on you and your fiancé and how amazing your wedding and lives will be together. It's not fair for you to use your energy on people who don't want to share in your happiness, this is your time. I know it's easier said than done, I recently ranted as well and not only getting it out but the amazing tips and support from the amazing ladies on this forum made me feel so much better. Most of us have been there in one way or another. Stay positive and just keep thinking of how special your day is going to be! xoxo

@@calgarybride2015 Thank you That killed me too when she said she thought I would get a free trip. The nerve! I actually read back our conversation because I'm so rattled and realized when she said about having to pay by october she actually said "why do we have to pay by October, the TRIP isn't until April" TRIP! She called it a trip and not my wedding. Maybe I'm reading too much into it and she didn't mean it that way, but after the convo we had I really think she did. I'm 100% going to focus on our 32 guests, there may be more as we still have 9 months but even if we don't I am so happy and excited! I am not chasing people anymore, I sent some friendly reminder texts & emails and now that's it. You come or you don't. I have the important people there and 32 people have already committed. That is more than I could every ask for. And most importantly, I get to marry the man of my dreams I hope it all works out for you!!! When is your big day? I contemplated having some sort of after party or gathering for my family and friends in Canada that couldn't make it but their lack of response and general attitude makes me not want to. Why should I go out of my way to plan something that is primarily for them when they can't be bother to rsvp, who's to say they would even come to that.

Can anyone recommend a really good DJ app (iPhone/iPod) they may have used recently? We're trying to cut costs anywhere we can and my fiancé is really excited about the idea of making his own playlists. Thanks!!! xo
