  1. You may also want consider bringing your own photographer from your city or country. Make sure to check that the photographer has experience in Mexico and that you like their style. In some cases it may be more affordable and even get a better package offering than the resort's or local photographers. For our wedding we hired a Canadian-Mexican photographer at almost 40% less of what we were quoted by our resort's photographer.
  2. It’s lovely that you are getting married in the same location of your engagement, congratulations!! I don’t know if you can choose the coordinator. Luz was the first to communicate with us from our initial enquiry and that is just who we stuck with. We were super super happy with her planning and execution of our day. We didn’t have a standard package. Instead Luz created a custom package do to special circumstances. The ceremony was held at the cabana although we really would have preferred it at the ruins ( we were past the guest capacity for this site ). We had almost 80 guests attend, we brought our own minister ( family friend ), and brought our own photographer ( Decordova Photography / www.decordova.ca ), and my girls made the bouquets. What package are you looking to get? If your guest list is 30 ( I think ) or less you can request the ruins. It’s really beautiful!!!
  3. I just got married at the OGX . Maybe I can help you with some details. Tip # 1 – Make sure your coordinator is Luz. She is super super accommodating. Tip # 2 – Request that your guests stay in buildings 19, 20, 21. These buildings are close to each other and surround the snack bar.
  4. The only less than perfect reviews I have seen were in our resort search. For photographers, and other vendors I also notice 5 stars and the rare 4 stars. Do your own research by visiting the photographers’ website, see if you like their work first. Check to see if they are involved in more than one wedding website, and crosscheck the reviews. The same review in two different sites could mean a fake review ( A tip for when I was searching for a nail salon ). Visit their facebook or twitter if they have one, and see the types of comments others leave there. Avoid a photographers that are not willing to be flexible for you, shows hesitation or speaks ill of other vendors. Best tip is to send the photographer an e-mail to see how well they will work with you. Try to reach them by phone or meet them if even possible. Our photographer is from Toronto and will be taking our pictures this week. You can try him. His name is Enrique and the company is Decordova Photography.
  5. Thank you to the couple that purchased our session. I've received my credit from our photographer. One more thing checked before we fly off tomorrow. Can't wait to see them. Love, Emma
  6. We did a thorough search on our photographer before booking. We only found good reviews and see that he is active on Facebook. Up to this point he has been professional and super helpful in the planning of our day. We never felt him being pushy or spammy since our initial inquiry. I’m certain nothing was missed but please do share that ‘forum’ so other couples can verify those comments.
  7. Purchasing well in advance is a good idea to find the best prices. Based on our guests purchases, purchasing tickets closer to the date will be more expensive. We purchased our tickets 9 months ago in May for $400 from Phoenix to Cancun. Some of our guests that are also flying from Phoenix purchased theirs between $450-$550 during the summer. In comparison, a cousin who confirmed going in December bought hers around $700.
  8. Contact our Photographer Enrique and see if this is possible. He has not yet notified us of anyone taking the spot so it should still be available. He will collect payment form the couple that gets it, and will then credit it to us.
  9. There is a solution for Canadian couples or couples who’s partner is Canadian. Like us Yey In our search it was surprising to find that there are many wedding photographers that are from Canada working in the Riviera Maya, however they were requiring us to also pay USD cash or Pesos. I'm from the US and my fiancé is from Quebec, Canada. We were lucky to find Enrique of Decordova Photography who happens to be a Canadian-Mexican photographer. My fiancé was able to pay the deposit and balance in Canadian dollars using a bank to bank transfer system they have in Canada. It was quick, simple, convenient. No foreign exchange involved and no need to take large amounts of cash with us. Everything else is provided by the resort and paid with credit. The only think to worry about now is not to get a sunburn and look like a Tomato ( my fiancé, not I ).
  10. My dress will remain sealed in the garment bag until the big day. I don't mind it wet or sandy after the ceremony when we do the mini beach session between the ceremony and reception. I'm already excited. Our photographer calls the session rock the dress. Maybe that means it can be any lovely dress
  11. Hi Everyone, I have a Cenote Trash The Dress session I am trying to sell for $100. It was originally an addition to our wedding photography package. My fiancé and I will no longer be able to do it as we will instead be touring around Playa Del Carmen and Tulum with our families. Our wedding photographer Enrique of Decordova Photography has agree to take a different couple so that the session is not wasted. You can contact Enrique from Decordova Photography to make arrangements at [email protected] or through his website at www.decordova.ca. Mention my name Emma and Trash The Dress to get it for $100 The details of the session are: Cenote Trash The Dress – Riviera Maya Date: January 16, 2015 or January 18, 2015 Durration 3-4hr Includes pick-up and drop-off from your resort I hope someone makes use of it as a little New Year’s treat from us. Love, Emma
