  1. @@vancouverpetunia Could it have maybe been the way you were laying in the tanning bed? Do they have any stand-up beds? Those tend to make things more even. When you're laying down in a tanning bed sometimes depending on how you're laying it can come out patchy.. My underarms were the perfect example and I can see it in all my pics lol. My underarms were white and the rest of me was really dark.. It was because I was laying with my arms against my side every time I went tanning. Just something to consider!
  2. Good ol' booking drama! I can definitely relate. We had a few guests who were indecisive..we even had two guests that backed out after they paid (the week of the trip) for also.. somewhat valid reasons. Try not to let it bother you because in the end I really didn't pay attention to who wasn't there.. I didn't think of them at all in fact. It your week and you guys are going to have an absolute blast with everyone Excited to hear how your bachelorette goes! I also opted out of the cheesy penis theme haha. I even went as far as telling my girls that I didn't want a veil, sash etc.. I just didn't want the attention.. although somehow people still knew! lol You will have a blast
  3. @@deecol I need something like that! I don't sleep very well anymore.. ever since the wedding stress and I still don't sleep well haha. I don't know what this wedding did to me. I know how you feel though because months before my wedding came I would just lay in bed.. wide awake thinking about the wedding..constantly.
  4. haha! We went off topic there. I think April 8th?? I think April 8th worked the best for most of us. It seems like there may not be one date that works for every single one of us.. considering there are a few weddings during that time and also two trips.
  5. I had to laugh at the part about your coworker asking if everything was ok because you were so bruised. The same thing happened to me once too lol. This nurse could not find my vein and I had so much bruising after lol
  6. Do we all have april Anniversaries?! haha Chester and I will be celebrating our 4 year this April.
  7. I'm pretty clear most weekends in the next few months
  8. I feel the same @@deecol I had one MUA do my makeup here in Toronto and I loved her, but she was $300 just to do my bachelorette makeup and that's the only person that I trusted. I think i'm also a bit of a control freak too haha we are too much alike. Also, you will have a tan! Don't forget that. We all look good with a glow I felt that I didn't really need as much makeup as I had originally planned because I was really embracing my tan
  9. @@Kjmenden Thank you, but I have had my wedding, maybe not at Azul Fives. I had my own fair review for my resort and there were some things that didn't work out to plan - all taken with a grain of salt. There are brides on this forum, actually one that responded to you in this thread who had already had her wedding at Azul Fives and had a great experience. I'd just caution you in regards to your approach. You're entitled to your review regardless of it's validity and I can appreciate that, but I think it's wrong for you to post it on a future bride's planning thread. I'm sure you had offered your unsolicited opinion prior, but I don't think that rant of yours was warranted or even appreciated. @@ashhtayy disregard my last response. It was responding to a post that has now been removed... haha
  10. Yay! Your shower pics are great. I love those gold foil balloons! super cute!! I'm really glad that everything turned out well and you got the support from your family and col <3 @@ashhtayy on your note about interaction.. that was the most pleasant surprise of our whole trip I think. A lot of people that I honestly didn't even know if they would hit it off, did and it turned out so well. Chester's cousin and my mom didn't know each other before the wedding, but now my mom and dad are planning a trip out to Alberta to go see her and her husband. Destination weddings bring people together. it's awesome.
  11. oh definitely! It's very hard to process it though until you actually get there and see it on their tables lol. I remember I spent so much time at home trying to make my table look like a guest table and moving around votives etc.. it drove me wild. I just left it up to my coordinator and it came out really nicely!
  12. Those lashes are so glam!! Those will definitely glam up your look. I honestly wish I added another set of lashes on top of my extensions. It would've showed a lot more in pictures. Are they getting their makeup done by the resort? That would be my only concern. I don't always hear the best things about some resort make-up. I'd say go with styling trio if they are an approved vendor. They look like they do an amazing job! As for longevity.. My makeup stayed all night and I made sure to prime it, set it x 10 haha and I also used my laura mercier powder. I had a chance to run back to my room really quick before the reception.. so I did and I put on some more laura mercier just in case. It kept my face dry/matte the entire time and I never looked sweaty. I think by around 10pm my makeup wasn't as nice, but it was still there and stayed pretty well. I didn't care though, our photographer/videographer was gone by then and I was drunk and dancing the night away hahah. No one cares at that point, they all have beer goggles on anways!! Can I also just add that you are naturally very beautiful. You are going to look great so don't overthink it at all! Also, don't worry too much about customs and your luggage etc. The cancun airport is going to be crazy busy and they probably aren't even going to bother to check or give you any sort of difficulty. Not even one person in our group got stopped or checked.
  13. Looks great so far! I definitely think you will have enough decor on your tables. I had more than enough especially once I added in the maraca favours. The mason jars look great!
  14. @@Kjmenden I agree with @@ashhtayy and honestly, if you'd like to leave reviews then do it in the reviews section of the forum, that's why it exists. Don't bring your rant to someone else's personal planning thread. To be honest, I read small portions of it, but I felt like a lot of it had no merit at all. I personally know a bride who was married at this resort in January and gave it rave reviews, but I guess there's always going to be the person who finds the negative in absolutely everything. Sadly, you allowed something at trivial as chair bows to make any sort of an impact negatively on your wedding and I feel sorry for you if that stood out more than your special day.
  15. @@PunkyAnna I know that Children under a certain age receive a reduced rate, but I don't think that they are free at all. I'd double check that with your travel agent, that's definitely something that they can answer.
  16. Haha thanks. As much as I wanted to look glam on my day, I also wanted to look like myself. I love the wooden planks! Those look so cute. I would honestly say to just go barefoot.. Is it that much longer if you go barefoot? Your dress is going to drag in the sand regardless. My dress was the perfect length when I had no shoes on and too short when I did have shoes on and with the sand being so uneven and sinking in it, I was dragging my dress through it at all times that I was on the beach.
  17. @@PunkyAnna Feel free to message me on here if you have any specific questions at all! We didn't do a civil ceremony in Mexico as we really didn't like the idea of the blood test so we had our legal papers signed here prior to our symbolic ceremony in Mexico.
  18. @@Kristilu Hello! Congrats! Pricing is all one big process and it's like that for all resorts. I'd say that pricing will become more clear once you provide Palace with all of your criteria etc. I'm not too sure about paying for an open bar. We got married in 2015 and there was never a fee to have an open bar. I'd say to be prepared to have to piece your pricing together as time goes on. There will be some aspects of your wedding that you won't pay for through Palace directly (outside vendors if you use any etc). If you have any specific questions feel free to message me.
  19. Those are so adorable!
  20. @@yycbride2016 No worries! I actually went pretty 'light' on my makeup in comparison to what I could have done. I really just felt like I had a killer tan and I really didn't 'need' a ton of makeup. I had my eyelash extensions which add glam in itself and then I just did some basic contouring, my eyebrows and of course my eyeshadow and liner. If you want it to look more prominent i'd just say to make your makeup a bit more dramatic for the photos. The only thing I'd really use a makeup artist for is if I wanted an airbrush. In this particular case I really didn't want one because it would hide my freckles and my freckles are kind of what makes me, me!
