  1. @@Kaitlyncrossley I posted a while back about our menu tasting when we visited in April 2015. We are doing Divine, but we did try a few things off the Eternity menu, so it might help a bit. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/index.php?/topic/62152-Now-Sapphire-Weddings-Formerly-Paradisus-Riviera/page__view__findpost__p__1892795 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk @@AmandaU I'm planning to use the resort florist. I only have 2 BMs and I think there is one BM bouquet in the Divine package, so not too much to add another. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. @@AmandaU - My wedding's in April, so not yet! Not sure which post you are referring to, but hoping to get them to string some bulb string lights that I will bring under the pergola and some fairy lights along the railings. In theory the set-up fee for this is $200 total. But better than $400 per pole to string them across the terrace
  3. @@ashhtayy Sounds like everything is coming together! Both of your bands are very similar to ours, so of course I love them Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Well ladies, I made it through this week better than expected on the exercise front. Got in 3 workouts over the work week. Plus a snowshoe over the weekend. Diet, however is another story since Thursday! But was down 1.5 lbs about a week ago for a total of 13.5 since late September. Hoping for slow and steady wins the race. Haha. I have tomorrow off for a long weekend and then back on track Tuesday. @@vanessajfelice Welcome and good work in signing up for WW and having a plan. When is your wedding? I will add you to MFP. @@deecol I always weigh myself on the same scale since they can all be calibrated differently. With everything you are doing, you must be building muscle so I wouldn't worry about what the scale says, anyhow. As long as you feel good - that's what counts Did you get your measurements done (accountability!!!)? @@ashhtayy Maybe the morning workouts are not your thing? I don't blame you!!! But it sounds like you are making up for it in the evening, so I wouldn't worry about it. @@calgarybride2015 I don't know how I would find the balance with all that going on! But I'm sure you will figure it out and get back on track in no time. How was Cuba? @@yycbride2016 Whoo-hoo. Good work! You've got this. 5 weeks? So exciting! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. @@yycbride2016 Love both of the dresses. I have something similar to #1 for our welcome cocktail. All of the stationery items are great as well. I am working on ours now, so was checking yours out for ideas. FYI I believe you have the wrong spelling for bathroom. It's bano with a squiggly thing over the N. Haha that's the technical terms. 6. @@deecol Soooo close. You'll be under pre-holiday weight in no time @@cruisebride2016 Say what? I need to get on that program! Congrats! @@Wafflesmom So glad you are doing well and that the dress fit. Phew! I'm having a bit of a rough week. I had a molar break on Sunday, dentist today to have part of the tooth removed and then a root canal tomorrow. Ugh. And I have to get a crown eventually but my insurance doesn't cover it - $1000! Crap. Anyhow... I still went snowshoeing on Sunday and hit the gym extra hard today (skipped yesterday as I also had blisters on my heels from snowshoeing sigh!). I've been only able to eat soft/liquid food, so at least my cals are down LOL. Will hit the gym tomorrow and then not sure when I will make it back. Thursday night have a work party (out late/too much booze, so unlikely to work out in the morning). Friday night or Saturday we go to Whistler. Dinner out Saturday night. Off on Monday cause it's my birthday. Probably will sleep in. And then dinner out on Monday. Yikes! Oh well, I was able to do my belt up two extra notches yesterday
  7. @@Wafflesmom Hilarious stories from your joint shower. Glad you both had fun Good luck getting everything ready this week. You've got this! So exciting. You are so close!
  8. @@calgarybride2015 Good points. My sister did give my parents a gift around her wedding (although I don't think they've ever used it!). I don't know if Jeff's sister did as well. My parents are contributing some money to the wedding; his are not, but that's because they bailed him out of a financial situation a few years back, so that was his "wedding fund". Neither of our parents seem like the types that would be offended, now that I think of it. But maybe we could write them a note thanking them for their support and letting them know that they will get a surprise later on or something... @@deecol Please let me know if you have any ideas for the girls. Yeah, the perfume could be a bit of an issue in terms of travel. I wasn't so much worried about getting it there, but I don't know if they will be checking luggage to go home or carrying on. Probably checking, as they both have kids, but you never know. I could pay for their make-up and/or hair at the resort, but that would come to $160 USD each if I did both, which is quite a lot.
  9. Thanks for the feedback & suggestions, Kim. I hadn't thought about a photobook, since I was thinking we should give them something AT the wedding. Did you give your parents anything small so they didn't feel like they were being "ignored" or did you tell them they would get a photobook later (or neither)? I love the idea.
  10. @@ashhtayy Wow awesome update. I don't know if I can help with any of your questions though. Let me see... Chargers: Personally, at $10 each, I would skip them. You'll have the table runners and all of the table decor. You will be the only one who knows they are "missing" Make sure they won't charge you a fee if you bring your own napkins or charger alternative. Cake: Okay, that is kinda dinky looking. Although it's hard to tell how large it is. Could you just still with it and upgrade the decorations on it? Add some flowers or ribbon or put it on a nicer serving plate or something? Guest Book: Love the map. I keep toying with that. I am leaning towards doing a mad libs thing that I would scan and put into a photobook. But it would be nice to have something to prominently display. Rehearsal Dinner: I think no decor needed. Plus they will probably charge you to set anything up! Wedding Week Activities: How big is your resort? When I went to a DW before, the resort was small enough that you could easily find people. You'd walk by the open air bar on your way to the pool and the beach was just past that. You were bound to find people at any of the 3. What I'm saying is an activity sheet might not be necessary. But I don't have any alternate suggestions, I'm afraid. I feel like if you make one, then it also forces you into being where you say you're going to be and sometimes things don't always go according to plan... Guys' Attire: It looks great. I can't speak from experience on grey, but we went with a light grey. Hopefully it's not an issue.
  11. @@Wafflesmom Love all the decor you've put together. That @ is one talented lady The ring box is so beautiful. I haven't seen anything like it before (although I haven't looked, either). Love having Waffle in the table numbers. So sweet. I have a Vancouver question for you. Are you getting legally married before you leave (sorry if this is somewhere in your thread)? I just realized I probably need to book an officiant for our legal ceremony and don't really know where to start. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you!
  12. @@yycbride2016 Thanks for the to-do list. I just found a few thing to add to mine! I love the boutonniere and the cake. The bouquets are all beautiful, but my vote would be for #2 (and I thought that before I read everyone's comments). Second choice for me would be #1. That said, I'm looking at something similar to #3 for my BMs, just smaller.
  13. @@yycbride2016 Sorry to hear you have been sick. Hope you are feeling better and can get back on track. Your wedding is coming up so soon! @@deecol @@yycbride2016 is right! Weight loss (or gain) doesn't always mean something. I totally get the urge to weigh yourself and hope for progress (I still do it), and it's also an easy way to track when you are "competing" (in the most supportive way LOL) with friends. But photos & measurements will show your success just as well, if not better. I'm happy to report I worked out every day this past week. Went for a 10km hike today (although it's an easy one) and going snowshoeing tomorrow. Helps that the weather is beautiful
  14. Have an amazing trip and wedding day! Can't wait to hear all about it. [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. @@LeighC Wow! You've had a lot going on. It sounds like you are getting settled though and are back on track with the wedding. My wedding is 2 days before yours, so it's good to see your list! Love your engagement photos! And Boston is such a beautiful background.
  16. Hey @@ashhtayy glad to have you back [emoji4] good idea to have a plan for the workouts, even if you have to adjust from time to time. Please feel free to add me on MFP if you like (ErinKampf). I've found it really helpful (and enlightening!) as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Oooh they are both pretty. If you guys both like the gold, then go with it. You can't really go wrong either way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Well, we are 95 days out from our wedding and exactly 3 months from our travel day. Whoo-hoo! I feel fairly in control at this point, but I'm also not doing a lot compared to most DW brides (no OOT bags, minimal decor, etc.). But I realized that we have not thought out some logistical stuff, so we did that this weekend. Timeline Our wedding ceremony is scheduled for 4pm. Then we have a cocktail hour and then the dinner/dance reception which is 3 hours. We had already decided not to pay to extend this, but head to the club instead. However, if we did this all in a row, it would mean we would end at 8:30, which seems really early! So I think we will do this: 3:15 First Look (is this enough time before the ceremony?) 4:00 Ceremony 4:30 Photos, guests are on their own - the lobby bar is close by 5:30 Cocktail hour 6:30 Dinner 9:30 Move to the club for anyone who wants to keep going (I will actually try to stay at our reception location as long as possible - they'll have to kick us out!). We have an older group, so I don't think too many will mind wrapping early. Has anyone done this with a break between the ceremony and cocktail hour? Did anyone complain (or disappear and not come back?!?)? Reception Details We've asked my BIL to be our MC. I think he will accept (he is just trying to sort out childcare for his kids, since my sister is also in my wedding party). I'm not a big fan of a lot of the traditional things that are generally done at wedding receptions, so I'm trying to figure out how to modify the events without disappointing people who might appreciate them. Receiving line: Nope. Not doing it. We're spending a whole week with these people, so it's not our one and only chance to speak to them personally. Will do our best to mingle at all events. Speeches: Ugh. I think we will keep the main ones. MC intro, best man, maid of honour (although I have never actually selected one of my BMs as my maid of honour - I only have 2, my sister & my best friend, how to decide?), my parents, us. Does that cover the major speeches? Dances: Ugh again. I think we will do these after dinner and keep them short. Maybe our first dance is only half a song and then we bring in the parents? Any suggestions? It seems like you are supposed to do this after the first course, but that seems awkward to me. Bouquet/garter toss: Not doing these. We have a total of 2 single people (not counting children) attending. I think it would be awkward. Cake cutting: For some reason I am okay with this (maybe because it involves cake ), so we will do it toward the end of the reception. Gifts I sort of forgot that we are supposed to get gifts for important people in our wedding/families. Oops. So I guess we need to figure this out and get shopping. Bridemaids x 2: I have a robe for each of them, but thinking this is not enough (I haven't paid for their dresses or anything). Neither of them really wear jewelry other than the "real" (and expensive) stuff they already have, and I don't care if they have matching jewelry for the ceremony. I'm thinking perfume? Groomsmen x 2: We have a Chive bottle opener & flask for each of them. Jeff is going to get these engraved and thinks this is sufficient. Parents: I have NO idea what to get them. Golf stuff for the dads maybe? Musician: A friend of ours is playing the sax for the processional & recessional. I should probably get him something? Have I missed anyone? Our photographer is a friend, but we are also paying him. I think it's a reduced rate from his usual, but seems like a gift on top of that would be weird. Here is my to-do list for the next month or so: Finalize day/reception timeline Confirm MC Let people know if they are expected to give speeches Figure out a plan for gifts & start buying them Get Jeff's ring resized Pick a date & location for our legal wedding Find an officiant for legal wedding Work on a welcome letter (would love any templates or examples you can share) Get fans ordered - thinking of doing this for the ceremony. I don't really have a burning need for a program (it's more about keeping guests cool) but I really like the looks of these from Etsy: Phew! I guess I had better get started!
  19. I have no idea how I managed to lose any weight. A few months ago, I was travelling for work and was sure I would have gained, but actually lost that week. However the following week I had gained! I feel like it catches up with me. I'm not going to weigh myself for a couple of weeks and just hope to maintain at this point! @@deecol, I agree with wafflesmom - you will be back on track in no time! @@Wafflesmom, at least you continued your workouts. It likely would have been worse if you didn't. Good luck in the next 2 weeks!
  20. Hi ladies! Hope you enjoyed the holidays (but not too much haha). I was pretty good for working out. Skipped a few days here and there for sure, but less than I normally would. In the past I would pretty much write off December! I also was pretty good on the food front until Xmas eve, which again I usually give up in early December. Somehow I've even managed to lose 1.5 lbs in the last 3 weeks?!? I stepped on the scale twice to make sure lol. But time to get back at it for real next week. Will do some food prepping and planning tomorrow. Hit the gym hard Monday morning. I have 8 lbs to get to my goal weight! More than half way there [emoji4] What is your plan for 2016? 21. @@Amandasequeira Congrats on your engagement and welcome to BDW. There's lot of great info here. Make sure to search for planning threads and reviews of your resort. Have you booked there, or still making your decision? I stayed at BB Grand Esmerelda in April 2015. Just as a regular guest, not related to a wedding. If you want any details, please let me know. 22. @@danielleesme Congrats and officially welcome to the forum. Glad to see another BC bride [emoji4] I'm also getting married in the Mayan Riviera about a month before you! I'm no expert on Mexican customs rules, but I wouldn't be too worried about candies. Fresh stuff like fruit, meat, etc (or even dried versions), yes, but I think candy/chocolate would be okay.
