We (or should I say HE) received some packages this week! He ordered flasks & bottle openers from the Chive. Not sure if you ladies are familiar with the Chive - it's a web site of some cult status and very popular among FH & his friends. We also received custom golf balls for the golf outing he is planning. They say "Mexico 2016". He didn't want anything too specific to our wedding. He works in the golf industry so these were free. YAY! Question - Do we need to give a gift to our MC? We didn't think about that when we ordered the Chive items. We haven't asked yet, but hoping my BIL (sister's husband) will be up to the task.

Wholesale Flowers In Cancun?
vancouverpetunia replied to chinamama's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
@@chinamama - I ran across a thread on this (although it was focused a bit further south - Tulum & PDC). Not a lot of suggestions, but perhaps it will help. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/76624-wholesale-flowers-around-tulumplaya-del-carmen/?p=1839286 You might try doing a search in the forums for "flowers" or "wholesale flowers" to see what you can find. -
@@TinkerSofi - I was reading somewhere (who knows where... reading so many articles, posts, etc. lately!) that often the hotel hangers won't work for photos. You know those hotel hangers that have the metal thing on the rod and the hanger slips into it? I'm not sure how to explain it, but you might find that you can't use the hotel hangers outside of the closet. I know that was the case at the resort we were just at near Playa del Carmen. I think it was a tips article from a photographer who suggested bringing your own hanger, even if it's just a plain wooden one. Something to keep in mind!

@@DinaQtobe You are absolutely right - the Tequila Terrace is at the far end of the resort and away from the pool and beach loungers, so private in that sense. But it is in front of 2 restaurants that look onto the terrace. Since I haven't been to reception there, I'm not sure how much you notice that when you are on the terrace, but that was the non-private aspect I was thinking of. You make a good suggestion about trying a different date. Perhaps moving it to the day before or the day after will open up availability at the desired location.

@@veryvalentine - I would also like to know where you are getting the papel picado. We were at Grand Sunset Princess a few years ago. We didn't have access to the Chill Out Lounge, as we didn't upgrade, but it looked gorgeous from the beach. We did consider GSP and the Chill Out Lounge for our wedding location - great spot! You've lost 6 inches since March?!? Like March 2015?!? Wow. That's awesome. I need to get my sh*t together... LOL

@@Ashleyg280 Fair enough. That would be disappointing. But keep in mind that you won't be able to see the view for most of your reception, since it will be dark. Unless there is a bright moon. Sunset is around 6:30 in October. I'm surprised that you got a 5:30 ceremony time - we were told 4 was the latest (for an April date). Maybe 5:30 was already booked. Unrelated question - Does anyone know if the resort has something to secure place cards at the tables? I don't want them blowing away and I wasn't planning on buying anything/bringing anything with me. And, assuming they do, is there a cost?

I didn't even think about the fact that I might be looking at a "knock-off" dress. I just found a style I like on Etsy. I have no idea if the design is original or not (probably not, given that I've found a few that are pretty much the same). Not sure if I will order one or not, but does anyone have experience with the following Etsy vendors? https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/MillyCouture https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/LaceMarry https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/RoseHauteCouture https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/YoursTailor They all have a 4.5 - 5.0 rating, although some have more reviews than others. Would appreciate any input if anyone has dealt with any of these vendors before. Thanks!

@@Ashleyg280 Oh, don't say you may get "stuck" with the preferred pool. I'm actually thinking of switching my location from the Tequila Terrace to the preferred pool (too bad we are not on the same day LOL). I did a quick site visit about 3 weeks ago and, honestly, you can't go wrong with any location. They are all beautiful, just different. I posted a few photos of our site visit here (along with some of my thoughts about the different locations): http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/62152-now-sapphire-weddings-formerly-paradisus-riviera/?p=1892970 But I didn't post the preferred pool photo, so I will do that now. Obviously not the greatest photo and not decorated for a wedding. I love the photos in one of the booklets I received from my WC. photo from my site visit The great thing about the preferred pool is that it is very private - the other locations, particularly tequila terrace, are not as private. Also, think about the pool being lit up at night. Really pretty!

@@snswedding2016 Don't be sorry! I have no idea if this list is accurate. Whether it is or not, in the end, it'll be the resort/florist that sets the price. @@calgarybride2015 It is strange that the lists are so different. Like I said above, I don't know how accurate it is and in the end it doesn't really matter. The pricing I can get will be the deciding factor! At one point I was thinking of just bright, bold colors for my theme/bouquet, which I think is what you did. I still may go that way...

Haven't heard back from the WC/florist yet, but did find a list of flowers that indicates what is available locally, general price point, etc. Not sure if it is accurate as it notes delphiniums as being "$$$ pre-order 30 days, spring/summer" despite the post from @@snswedding2016. But worth reviewing anyhow. Oh, LOL I have that dress pinned. In your photo I couldn't see the embellishments on the skirt so I thought they were different. I'm just starting to look at dresses now, so will have to check out David's P.S. Love the shoes. I esp like the wedges. I'm gonna check those out for me, too! Perhaps we will end up as twins

@@Meandhim - I am just reading through your planning thread now, so a little late to the party! I love both your dresses, but especially your reception dress. This is actually very similar to what I want for our ceremony! When did you buy it? I don't see if on the David's Bridal web site. Love your colours as well, which are basically the same as mine (at least I think - I haven't completely nailed it down yet), except I'll go more purple than pink.
