  1. @@linaco80 Thanks for the info on the catamaran! The only other info that might be helpful, if you are willing to share, would be: Total cost Was transportation extra (from resort to marina & back)? What marina did they leave from? Photos would be great So glad you had such a good time
  2. Ah-ha! @@acw271011 and @@calgarybride2015 It was meandhim, but it was the first pair of shoes she bought, and I think she decided to not use them at the wedding. @@Meandhim - Sounds like you kept these shoes and decided to wear them for an upcoming wedding (as a guest). Are they comfy? Do you like them?
  3. @@linaco80 - Congratulations on your marriage! Your wedding looks beautiful and I love all the details. Good work! I'm looking forward to hearing more about your catamaran trip as we are wanting to plan one for our wedding next April.
  4. @@acw271011 & @@TinkerSofi - Was there a full moon this past week?!? It seems like everyone has health drama going on. My FIL was driving home to Canada from Palm Springs and had to be airlifted to Portland, OR, for emergency surgery due to an aortic aneurysm. Crazy! He is lucky to be alive (and to have good travel insurance!). Thankfully he is doing well and is back home. But it's a been a weird week. Best to your dad, TinkerSofi, and I hope you are doing better, acw271011.
  5. Thought I would add onto this thread as I need some input, please! I'm thinking I should find shoes this spring/summer, otherwise I may be screwed trying to find them next winter, so don't want to wait too long. I'm planning to get a short wedding dress. Something like this: I'm only 5'3 and my fiance is 6'4, so I want some height and also I have awesome calves . For previous brides - are wedges manageable on the sand? I feel like wedge flipflops would be too casual. But heels are impossible, and I don't want flats. Our ceremony is on the beach and our reception is on a wood terrace, so heels might be an issue there as well. I saw these at Payless online (I might even do blue, as I am leaning to blue for our wedding color). Another bride on here posted about them, but I don't remember who. What do you ladies think?
  6. @@kcole123 - How did your shoes work out? They are beautiful and I'm thinking about something similar. But we're getting married on the beach in the sand. Was your ceremony on the beach as well? Were you able to walk okay in them? And where did you get them? Thanks!
  7. @ - I think my fav was #canyoufeelthesmithstonight (except FI's last name is really unusual and not Smith). Or #takemetosmithtown? LOL
  8. @@ashhtayy - I know that my TA had to go back to the airline (Transat in our case) for any variations on the original package, and it did take a little longer. Also, with land only, she might be looking at other providers or trying to get your provider to price match. For land only, our TA found a cheaper rate with Sunwing and then got Transat to match it. Hopefully that's all it is and your guests will hear back soon.
  9. You could try: http://mktg.weddingwire.com/wedding-hashtag-generator/ I hadn't used it before. Came up with some pretty amusing options...
  10. @@deecol - Thanks! I actually didn't know about this. I bought a Vistaprint Groupon recently, so this should help me figure out paper, etc.
  11. @@valleyhart16 - We're at Now Sapphire, but in case it helps, here is our site: http://erinandjeff.weddingwoo.com/
  12. Tough call! I think I like #2 a bit better, but I tend to like simpler dresses. More my style, which doesn't mean it is yours. They are both beautiful.
  13. What?!? Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear that. [emoji15] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. @@acw271011 - Sending good vibes your way. Glad you are getting the tests done quickly. Waiting can be the worst part.
  15. Great start to your planning thread. I know by reading your other posts that there is much more to come! Looking forward to it
  16. That's too bad. But hopefully they haven't gone up much. I booked in Feb, so I don't think they had the 2016 pricing out yet.
  17. @@JaxBchKay - That's great! Hopefully it works out for us, too. Did you find that one bartender was enough? I had someone suggest getting a second bartender to make sure that people don't have to wait too long. We will probably have about 35 ppl at the reception.
  18. Photography I'm excited to say that we have secured a photographer. We have a friend, who is invited to the wedding and who is also a professional wedding photographer here in Vancouver. I wasn't sure if he would be interested, as I figured he might not want to work on his vacation. I also had no idea what his rates were and whether they would fit in our budget. But I figured it couldn't hurt to ask (as my mom says, the worst he could say is "no"). Turns out he is interested and his rate for 8 hours is approximately the rate for 4 hours with most of the local photographers that I contacted! Plus, he'll be on site all week, so we can split that up at no additional charge if we don't need it all for the wedding day (which I doubt we will). Oh, and that rate is in CAD rather than USD so I don't have to pay the exchange rate. Needless to say I'm really happy with everything.
  19. @@JaxBchKay - Thanks for the info! Our ceremony is also scheduled for 4 and I was thinking of pushing the cocktail hour to 6. I think it's supposed to start at 5 right now. Did you have to pay any extra to have the bar open for that hour, before the cocktail hour officially started? We are also worried about people wandering off to the bar or something and not coming back in a timely manner
  20. @@leggi - I just checked the Now Jade wedding booklet that I received when I was considering this resort. It doesn't say anything about the flowers not being included, so perhaps my assumption that it was the same as Now Sapphire is incorrect. It was pretty clear in the Now Sapphire wedding booklet that the flowers are extra. Sorry if I've lead anyone astray!
  21. @@JaxBchKay - Thank you so much for your review! I'm getting married at Now Sapphire on April 7, 2016. Reviews are so helpful (and generally reassuring)! I have a couple of questions for you: What time was your ceremony/cocktail hour/reception (and until what time)? Were you happy with the timing? You mentioned lounge furniture on the beach. Is that always there or did you rent it for your event? Thanks again for your feedback on the resort. Really appreciate it!
