@@yycbride2016 I am considering Oasis from David's for my color, too. Let me know how the Etsy dress goes. I'm thinking about that as well (was looking at different sellers, though). My main concern is that my BMs are not small chested, so I'm not sure how well it would work for them.

I think the general consensus is that picking the resort is one of the toughest parts of planning a DW. There are lots of good suggestions here on how to do your research and then narrow it down. I looked at and compared both wedding packages and the actual resort amenities/costs for guests. I also worked with a TA to get prices for resorts. And read lots of trip advisor reviews. Good luck! @@TaraMarie33 Holy Moly! That is quite the ring. Gorgeous! Very cute engagement story [emoji4] What resort did you end up booking? I didn't see it mentioned in your thread. Unfortunately I don't have much advice to give regarding your questions. However, regarding the photographer, you'll want to check with your resort as to their external vendor fee. It may apply to him in which case there may not be a savings. Then again, it may not apply if he is a guest. We have a friend who is a professional wedding photographer, who is also coming to the wedding with his wife for the week. For approx what I was going to pay for 4 hours for a local photographer, I can get him for 8. We are not paying for his trip, as he was already invited and coming anyhow. We have no outside vendor fee for him because he is our guest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RW definitely did have a bridal line from what I can find. But I'm not sure that they still do. I also found J Crew a bit expensive and somewhat limited in selection. Leaning towards David's at the moment. You really can't beat them for the options they have available and at reasonable cost. Plus my BMs and I live in 3 different cities so can't all go to the same store. At least at David's we are all looking at the same thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@@acw271011 RW & Co has wedding attire? I don't see anything on their web site and when I google it, I come up with mostly older posts (2011-2014). I tend to like their style (and price point!) so would love to check out what they have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We are at a different resort but single rooms didn't count for anything for us Even triple rooms didn't count, which seems ridiculous that you wouldn't get at least one room credited for that. But I guess those are the loopholes they have in place to minimize what you can get for "free". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not entirely sure if this is the right spot for my post, so apologies if it is not. Has anyone used this company, Cancun Catamarans, for a private excursion? They seem to have reasonable prices for our group size (about 40). We are looking at 4 hours as we don't want to suck up as entire day. We are at Puerto Morelos, so considering Cancun departures so that we spend less time on a bus to get to the marina and back. Would appreciate any feedback from brides here. Trip Advisor is a bit mixed but the reviews for private trips seem good. It's the public trips (i.e. buy 2 tix out of 40 available) that are a bit iffy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Your ring is so pretty (very similar to one of my choices, although not what I ended up with). And the STDs look great. Love the "thank you" part of your engagement story. We joke about that all the time as well [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haha! I thought I was the only one! I didn't mention that because I had this ring that I inherited that might have "turned into" my e-ring, I was totally expecting a token ring. A silver band or something. He had joked about giving me an onion ring! So when it was a real ring, I was really shocked. And therefore the "thank you"... for a real ring. These same kimonos are currently on sale for $11.99 each at La Vie en Rose online store. In case anyone missed them last time. Cheaper than the 3 for 1 deal and you aren't forced to buy in increments of 3. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@@breezie That sounds like some frustrating updates I am at Now Sapphire and had originally figured that Now Sapphire and Now Jade would have pretty much the same policies. But that doesn't seem to be the case all the time. That said, I was told that I could use the value of my 2 included corsages (which I don't want) towards the cost of flowers for the cake. On the other hand, I asked about only adding hors d'oeuvres & cocktails for 10 extra people (total 35), rather than 15 (total 40), as I figured the wedding party would be busy with photos and wouldn't have much of a chance to eat/drink. I was told that wasn't possible. I'm going to try to push that again closer to my wedding date. I hope you can get something worked out!

I'll answer this as a guest and not a bride. We have decided not to do OOT bags, so I haven't investigated prices, options, etc. But as guests, we always take our own insulated cups with lids/straws. And since we started doing this a few years ago, we recommend it to anyone else who is heading to an all-inclusive resort. While non-insulated cups with no lid could allow you to get a larger drink than the resort throw-away cups, they won't keep the drinks cold, the ice will melt, etc. I don't know that it would be the greatest investment, as people may not use them a lot (just as easy to use the resort cups rather than haul your own around if there is no real benefit). If I was planning to do OOT bags, I would actually probably do insulated mugs of some sort and stuff them with some goodies. That would keep the costs down by not having an actual bag. Of course, it depends on what you want to include in your OOT as to whether that idea would work for you or not.

@@calgarybride2015 I probably could find some cheap vases to bring, but honestly I'm really trying not to bring much with me. It's my incentive to keep things simple and keep costs down If I can't do it through the resort at a reasonable cost (which is almost nothing), I just won't do it! (famous last words) KatyHK could rent me some vases. I can't remember the cost - maybe $5 each? And my WC did say I could supply my own limes. But then he said I would have to put the whole thing together. Which isn't hard, but I'm not sure it's something I want to be dealing with on my wedding day (or asking anyone else to deal with). I'm really starting to like the idea of the lime runner anyhow!

Flower Update I'm still struggling with this a bit in terms of colors/specific flowers, but I feel like I am getting a better idea of what I want. (see original post here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/79068-vancouverpetunia-now-sapphire-april-7-2016/?p=1894005) I think I may get my girls clutches instead of bouquets. The bouquets are at least $65 each, depending on the flowers I chose (luckily I only need 2 bouquets), but I could get clutches for the same price and at least they may get some future use. I really love flowers, but throwing away $130? Ugh. I was thinking of doing this on the tables: But my WC informed me that they want $90 per vase! Seriously? It might be $10 worth of product in there. And you know that the people putting it together are making next to nothing. Ridiculous! They also want $120 to fill 20 individual vases with flowers (vases not included - I was going to rent them myself from KatyHK). I'm not sure which flowers they mean - the regular kind included with my package or something fancier (since I have asked about both). I do get a centerpiece with my package valued at $125, so I believe I could apply the $125 against that. So now I'm thinking of doing this: rectangular tables with individual limes down the center, maybe some leaves if I can get them, punctuated with about 7 vases with individual flowers. I figured I can get the limes locally for cheap and maybe I can even get the resort to ask the gardeners to put aside some of their trimmings (???). Something like this with the limes: And then add in one of these vases every foot or two: (but I would be using different flowers and no purple vases, but some blue/green and clear) I figure I might have to pay an extra $75 to get a few more flowers, the vases will cost me about $50 to rent and the limes - well I don't know, but let's be generous and say $50. So $175 to do 4 tables as compared to around $375 to do one vase with limes and have some individual flower vases (factoring in my $125 centerpiece credit). Even if they charge me a set up fee (so far they've quoted me $100 x 2 to set up a couple of different things), I'll be ahead and I think the decor would have more impact spread down the table like that. Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations on how to make friends with the gardeners when I don't speak Spanish?

Aisle decorations
vancouverpetunia replied to StephyD's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I wasn't planning on doing much for the aisle/ceremony. Actually I was planning on doing nothing I figured the setting is enough and I didn't want to increase my budget for decor when there is that beautiful view. I do get a white aisle runner (which I'm not sure I'm going to use - worried about it blowing around and/or tripping on it!) and white draping for the arch. Plus I believe they will put my included centerpiece under the arch. The only thing I was thinking of adding was colored sashes on the arch, which I figured that would be fairly inexpensive and easy to pack, like this: But then I saw this photo: I love this. It adds a little pop of color and is very natural in the setting. Plus I am already planning to incorporate green into my colors. Has anyone done anything like this? I'm thinking I could even see if the resort would get the gardeners to hang onto some palm fronds to use at no cost (haha! right!). But really, they are always trimming palm trees and other greenery at the resorts. Any thoughts or suggestions on how I might arrange that? -
