  1. @@danielleandryan2015 I was going through the same thing, but people will know you are going away to get married, so I don't think it will sound weird as you want to be celebrating with them that you are now married!
  2. Congratulations! There is so much info on this site! Happy planning!
  3. @@MacyLyn We have Lilian as ours. We actually just did a vacation there in Sept and got to see the resort and meet our coordinator. It is a beautiful property and we are so excited to go back. There is soo much to do on the properties and all renovations will be done so all 5 properties are open. We too talked about doing the delivery of OOT bags but it was about $4 per bag, so we are going to do a welcome party (aka meet at the lobby bar at x pm) and just hand them out there. We will also be emailing out 2 weeks prior and then putting in their welcome bags, a week snapshot that will show what events are happening when. We are just using our ipod for the ceremony and reception to keep the costs down, and then head to the disco for an after party! We are getting married at Playa Azul, which is the most private and in my opinion the prettiest. We are staying at the Beach resort so it is easy for us to get to. People from the palace will most likely want to take the trolly or they can do the 15 min walk down the beach.
  4. @@danielleandryan2015 I saw one on pinterest that was an I Do BBQ but then had all the info for dinner and dancing etc. Another one I saw had the wording: We slipped a ring on each other's finger and made a promise for life...Join us as we celebrate now that we're husband and wife. You are invited to attend a reception to honor the newly married.......
  5. I am treating our AHR as if it were a typical wedding and sending them out about 4-5 months ahead of time, so that way I can organize numbers for food/booze etc. Ours is only 2 weeks after we get back, so I want a majority of it to be done before we leave. As for wording....we are calling it an "I Do BBQ" as it will be super casual and just saying come celebrate with us. I am currently in the process of designing them so wording is not complete yet.
  6. We are staying at the newly renovated Beach hotel. We are already up to 50 guests with quite a few more to book. I think the only excursion we have talked about is doing Coco Bongo on Tuesday, May 19 (2 days before the wedding). This way it is kind of a stag/stagette night for those that couldn't make the ones back home. We thought about doing another excursion, but we didn't want our guests to feel obligated to go spend more money. I figure if they want to go do their own they will.
  7. Congrats! I too am getting married at the Barcelo but we will be staying at the Beach resort and are doing the Mint Breeze package! Depending who you fly with, they may have a compartment for your dress. As for the groomsmen outfits, we havent figured that out yet. We will be doing OOT bags, but are still putting ideas together on that. Things like advil, pepto, gum, hand sanitizer etc. will be in there. Along with either a tumbler or coozie and some other goodies. Nothing too extravagant. Which coordinator are you working with?
  8. I haven't decided one way or the other, but if I were too I would do fans so then they are used in 2 capacities! Keep the guests cool and informed.
  9. We were originally told that we could only have one option, but we did find out that we can have 2 options (I guess 3 if you include vegetarian) but you would have to have a seating plan and color code who is getting what. I am still on the fence if I want to give this option. We do color coding for all our work events so it wouldnt' be that hard, but we figure even if we do one option, people can go to the buffet if they want something else.
  10. My future sister in law is my MOH so she will definitely be there! Her sister lives far away so I doubt she will be able to make it! I am still on the fence about my brother's future wife though - she will probably get the invite but who knows if she will even want to come.
  11. as long as my dress is not completely trashed after mexico, I will most likely wear it again! I love it and its not very often brides get to wear their dress twice!
  12. We aren't opting for a dance floor as we will only start the dance party there and then head to the disco on the resort. We aren't even doing a DJ - just an ipod with songs we know will get the party started then move on from there.
  13. I say go with your gut and original thought. Part of a destination wedding is the heat, and honestly the ceremony is for half an hour. You don't want to be stressed about not having enough time for pictures which are the one thing you take away at the end of the day. Sometimes even with the humidity it is hot at 9pm at night, so really I don't know if the hour will really make a difference.
  14. congrats! These boards have so many ideas! It can be very addicting!
  15. We will be doing a few speeches. We are keeping with a somewhat traditional reception.
  16. @@nadiakat17 Nuevo Vallarta has beautiful sunsets!!! So you will definitely get some nice shots! As for reception, we plan to head to the lobby bar after as it is open 24 hours a day! Therefore those that want to keep going can. I am sure you could just bring your own docking station into too as it wont be that busy at 1 am!
  17. @@riskyteacher - we are getting married there May 2015 and we hired Octavio Montes (he posted above). www.octaviomontes.com We actually were just at the resort in Sept and met with him and Ocean Beach and decided on Octavio. We found him to understand us much more as a couple and his packages are much more reasonable (even if you have to pay the outside vendor fee). He also offers 10% off which helps!
  18. @@TinkerSofi - if its you and your groom agrees, go for it! As much as a wedding feels like its about other people, it truly is the one time you can be all about you and your groom! @@travelgal78 - I love VSQ - I have been listening to so much of their stuff. My groom doesn't want me walking down to a 'slow traditional' song, but I find these can be a good compromise. He loves the song Don't Stop Believing and VSQ does it, so that may be my aisle song.
  19. We are just doing the 1 tier chocolate cake! everyone gets a dessert so I doubt the cake will be eaten.
  20. I'll be getting glowsticks from the dollar store for the kids at our wedding. I have always got ones from the dollar store and they seem to do just fine.
  21. We put our TA info, but we don't have a set price anymore as we reached our 30 limit so now its on a as requested basis.
  22. All that matters is what you want....if that is what represents you as a couple...go for it! Those that know you will understand it!
  23. I am so hesitant when it comes to my hair...I trust my hairstylist to the nth degree and if you feel the same then I say go for it. I know my hairstylist wouldn't let me try anything that wouldn't work on me before the wedding.
