Thanks ladies! The seamstress was not too pleased with the weight loss. They actually wanted to put me in a smaller size dress but that changed how far the back dropped down, which is one of the things I loved about the dress. I will definitely post pics on Sunday so you (and I) can see the difference.

@@Janjin we are getting married at apt he Catalonia Riviera Maya. Sorry to hear of your loss also! Our theme is starfish as you will see in the next pics. Our cake topper is fun and personalized for us. My bouquet and the the corsages are real touch roses. I was going to wait to post my dress pictures....but here it is before I lost the 30 lbs. I'll post again after my next fitting on Sunday ????

Ring Help, Please!

I think that's what I will be doing...going with the 2 and then if i want in the future I can add the 3rd. Thanks ladies! -
So, I have gone back and forth on whether or not to post a “planning thread”. Everyone’s seems so elaborate compared to what mine would be, but then I feel silly when fellow brides ask to see what I have planned so far and I have nothing. So, I am going for it lol How we met: Yep, at a bar. One of my friends and I had made plans to go and see this singer who was performing for his last time before moving out of town. Little did I know that my friend had met Chris (my now fiancée) previously and had also told him to come out for the night. Chris had been sick and totally didn’t feel up to going out but decided to anyways. He walked in that night and I spotted him instantly. I have always had a thing for guys in ball caps and I think that’s what caught my attention. Long story short, our friend ended up introducing us and we talked the whole night, to the point I started to lose my voice since I was trying to talk over all the music. We grabbed a bite to eat afterwards and then said our goodbyes…never thinking I would hear from him again. But thanks to facebook, we connected and stayed in touch that way for a while. Two weeks after we met that night, I was heading to Mexico (keep that in mind) with some girlfriends. I was excited to go away, but bumming because I had just met this guy and now I wouldn’t be able to see him for a week….the thought killed me. But we made it work…chatted NON-STOP through fb and made plans for me to stop by his house as soon as I got off the plane. And that’s how our relationship started. Engagement: Now back to Mexico again. About a year and a half into our relationship, we decided to go to Mexico – to the resort I had gone to with my girlfriends. One of the days that we were sitting out on the beach, a wedding was going on. We looked at each other and just knew…this is what we wanted for our wedding. So, we talked about how we would just have it be the two of us and keep it nice and quiet. But I also made it clear, I still wanted the “asking” to be a surprise. Couple months after coming home from our trip, we booked our wedding day for 10/27/15…seemed so far away at this point. 5 months after we set our date we were vacationing in St. Thomas. We were on the beach, and I was so excited about these huge birds that were dive bombing the water to catch fish, that I didn’t even realize he was attempting to ask me to marry him. Once, I figured out what was going on…I ended up crying and saying yes. Even knowing that it was coming, I still ended up in tears with all of the romantic and sweet things he had to say. Our Wedding: When starting to plan, we decided that there were others that we had to have there with us. So we had planned on having about 15 of us. Unfortunately, I lost my younger brother back in February and that changed a whole lot of things. My Dad is not attending, as he says he doesn’t have the money, we offered to pay but he refused to take it. My mom is going and she will be walking me down the aisle now…and honestly I couldn’t be any more ok with this. My mom and I were at my brother’s side until he took his last breathe, and our relationship over these past 6 months has really grown. Others are unable to come for other reasons also, so that leaves us with about 7 total. Chris’ brother also passed away about 4 years ago, so we decided to not do a bridal party since we don’t have our best men to be there. I made a frame to have at the table up front with their pictures and a little poem, we know they will be with us in spirit. Our wedding is being held at 2pm on the beach followed by a cocktail hour with a Mirachi band. I’m still waiting on the hotel to give me more planning options so we can decide on the rest. 7 weeks from today and I will be Mrs. Minich. I couldn’t be any happier about this. The Dress: I went to David’s Bridal with a list of destination dresses I wanted to try, but there was this one that I wanted to try on last, because I liked it the most in pictures. I didn’t want to fall in love with the first dress without giving other dresses a try. Needless to say, the last dress I tried on was my dress and fit me perfectly, minus needing a hem. I knew I wanted to lose some weight I had gained from losing my brother, so this was now my goal. Back in July, I went f or my first fitting (after losing almost 30lbs) and the dress needed a lot of work. This Sunday I go back for my next fitting, I can’t wait to get pictures of it now to compare it to what it looked like when I first bought it. To think I was worried about not having enough to say. I am going to post pictures later when I get home, to go along with some of what I had posted. But at least this is a start…right? Have to say, you ladies have been so helpful with any questions I had…you guys keep me sane! Pics to come soon!

@@FutureMrsGlover You sure had some great dresses to pick from - they all look great on you!

So, until I started looking at rings on this site I was content with the band we had bought to go with my ring. And now, I see the two bands is becoming a new thing. With our wedding 7 weeks away, tonight we went to see what my e-ring would look like with the two bands. Now I don't know which I like more, and if the 2 bands is too much. What do you guys think? Ignore the swollen finger, we just had our share of fattening food at a garlic festival lol.

@@maybeoneday We are only a small group of 7, the biggest cost was the OO bags. Hope your items come soon!

@@maybeoneday YAY! A bride who has a date near mine! I have been to CRM a few times, the last time being with my fiancee and we just knew that's where we wanted to have our wedding. I believe today is my last shipment of things to be delivered. We are doing a sand ceremony and I ordered a picture fram that you pour the sand into. And then I am also waiting on Mexican snacks and candies that I bought for the OOT bags. How about you? Where are you at with your planning?

Cost For Photographer In Cancun?
RivieraBride15 replied to shelikespink's topic in Destination Wedding Vendors
@vancouverpetunia Did you end up talking to your friend about doing your photos? We also asked a friend to do ours, we agreed to pay flight and accommodations. After agreeing to it, she contacted us and said that her husband thinks she should be paid $500 on top of that, since technically she is working. What was i supposed to do at that point, so we are paying it. -
Of course, 8 weeks before my wedding date I actually think to look for an October 2015 thread.... We are getting married October 27th at the Catalonia Resort in Riviera Maya. Hoping some other October brides see this so we can chat during these next couple of weeks.

@Meandhim I don't have a thread actually. I wish I had started on a while ago, but I found this page and then took a long break with so many things that had gone on in life. Sounds familiar, huh? We are getting married at the Catalonia Riviera Maya on October 27th. Resort just emailed us on Monday to start our planning...eeek!

Welcome Lisa! You have come to the right place - you will "meet" lots of great brides here and find lots of information! Like @@acw271011 said....trying searching for topics in the search bar. Anything you can think of, there's a good chance more than one bride has already had the same question! Best of luck with your planning!

Honeymoon & Destination Wedding Packing Checklist
RivieraBride15 replied to JUSTUSTWO's topic in Honeymoon Forum
This site is better than google...any time I have a question I just come here and search. You guys really have the answers for everything! -
We are getting married at the Catalonia Riviera Maya. They said they start with the details 2-3 months before the wedding and in one of our last correspondence, they said everything has to be finalized by the end of September. Maybe I will give them another week or two and see what happens? I know they have lots of brides, so I dont want to be a pain
-
Our wedding is October 27th, 10 weeks from this past Tuesday. The resort said they would be in contact with me to go over my details, but I haven't heard from them yet. I have been compiling a list of questions over the past few months...and once in a while have contacted them before purchasing something to make sure it can be used. They have always responded to my messages in a reasonable amount of time. Just not sure if they should have contacted me already or not....trying not to panic lol Should I contact them, or wait a week and see if they contact me after the 27th of this month?

Is This Too Tacky?!
RivieraBride15 replied to yooyooo's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I love the cake - it is far from tacky! Looks beautiful! I do know where you are coming from when worrying about the looks of flowers when they aren't real. My bouquet is made of pink "real touch" roses - since I bought it from Etsy all i had to go by was pictures. Fell in love with it through the pics and even moreso when it arrived in the mail! Happy shopping!
