  1. Thank you! I will have to look on there because i still need tote bags!
  2. It looks great, thank you! I love the story of how you two met!
  3. We budgeted for what we can afford also. In the end, the extra money will probably be helping with any expenses we haven't accounted for or had forgotten.
  4. That is very nice of him!! Yeah I was just wanting to see if anyone is in the same boat as me.
  5. Oh that is so awesome to hear! Yes we are buying snorkeling gear before we head down there. I wanted to plan some kind of group excursion. The FI and I love fishing so we were thinking about doing a fishing trip. Are you going to do a welcome/rehearsal dinner for your guests?
  6. I LOVE ETSY. I will be buying tooooons of wedding stuff off there! I think that is where I am going to buy my invitations also.
  7. I was going to ask @@cometgirl did you do any excursions while you were there?
  8. You're welcome! Hope it helps! We still have more info to add, but I tend to wait till I have info 100% complete and correct before I like to update the site. We will be adding excursions, as well as an itinerary. Can you post your wedding site? I love looking at other sites!
  9. Welcome! Have you decided on where you are having your DW @@palmtree99?
  10. I am 22 (will be 23 in two days, eeeek!) and my fiancé is 22. We decided on a DW because really it saves ALOT of money. (Not including the cost of our stay at our resort, our wedding should cost between 10-15k.) I was just wondering for everyone else on here who is having a DW, who is footing the bill? The reason I ask is, as an only child with parents who make a good amount of money…they are hardly helping pay for any of the wedding. I am grateful for any financial assistance so I do not complain, I work hard for what I want and can pay my own way if need be. However, many of our close friends and family who have asked us if we are paying for our own wedding (Which we are paying for almost all of it), are SHOCKED that my parents are not helping out hardly at all. Is it still typical for the brides parents to pay for a wedding? I hope this question does not come off as tacky asking about financials…but I am very curious to know if anyone else is in the same situation. We are both fairly young still, and while we both have graduated college, I would think being fairly new in the career world my parents would have helped us more. :/ sigh.
  11. Good for you acosta! We were originally going to have a legal ceremony in Mexico. However we were told we had to be there three business days early (so we were going wed, for a sat wed), and apparently this info was incorrect. So we just switched to a symbolic ceremony. But more power to you for going through all those hoops!
  12. Pretty! I would personally go check out dresses in person, in an area near you. I also just like seeing things in person better. There are beautiful dresses everywhere. You can even take this pic into a wedding dress shop and see what they have similar, that is in your price range!
  13. Congrats! Keep us updated on what resort you choose!
  14. Congrats and welcome to the forum!
  15. I am not from Canada, but I am getting married at home before the symbolic ceremony at the Barcelo. We are getting married the week before we leave, but will only celebrate one wedding date, and that is our DW date. (As well as ONLY saying vows at our DW).
  16. @@TheBHolders Just remember that your wedding is the one time you can say this is all about YOU (and hubby to be of course). Even with family pressure, do what makes you both happy. And I agree, your DW should be the priority, book all of that first before you think about the AHR. Good luck!
  17. @@GingerBride So my wedding is 5/15/15 at Barcelo in Riviera Maya. We are doing the strawberry passion package because it is a must for my ceremony and reception to be on the beach. Our ceremony is at 6pm. We have booked Ivan Luckie for photography, and the Best Moments for hair/make up. We are working on booking a DJ now. We sent our STD's in July, and are sending invites hopefully by next month. Ill message you on here with my e-mail!
  18. My wedding planner is Xhail. I have planned a lot so far. Are there specific questions you have?@@GingerBride First you confirm your date by booking your reservations, thats when a WC will email you and you start planning.
  19. @@GingerBride You sound just like me! We are only have 30 guests also.
  20. $800?!?! I am getting married at Barcelo which is a $500 outside vendor fee…and I thought THAT was bad lol
  21. We are not sleeping in the same room the night before the wedding. Although we are having a DW which is not the "traditional" choice, there are some things we just like the tradition of. Is it bad luck? Probably not. But I will be that much more excited to see my honey when I walk down the aisle, and I think it will build the anticipation. I have not yet talked to the resort re: who will sleep where. I guess I need to get on that!
  22. We are having a very small bridal party. Partly because most our friends cannot afford to travel to a DW. We are only having a MOH (my best friend), and a best man (grooms best friend). We have not decided if we are going to add on one more person for a bridesmaid, and one more person for a groomsman. If we do thats still only a bridal party of 4 total!
  23. I will not see my husband to be until I walk down the aisle on our wedding day! Although I am having a DW, there are just some things that I am very traditional about, and this is one of them It is a great idea though (and would be so much more convenient for pictures!)
  24. I could barely find any of the work for my resort's photographer (Ocean Photo Studio's, we are getting married at the Barcelo in Riviera Maya.) After reading reviews upon reviews about different photographers, I booked Ivan Luckie for our wedding. While I am sure the resort's photos would look just fine, this is my ONE AND ONLY CHANCE, to have the BEST possible pictures of myself and my husband to be at our wedding. I would rather spend the extra money to put my mind at ease.
  25. I will be 23 when I get married in May, but feel like I am 35…does that count?!
