  1. Our main colors are turquoise and peach, and our neutral color is tan.
  2. Just checking on an update to see how your planning has been going!!??@@ckv4cpc
  3. Welcome & congrats on your engagement!
  4. What is shoulder season? Busy season or low season? If I were in your situation…I probably would not even send STD's, maybe just verbally tell your future guests of the estimated date of travel.
  5. It is nice to see a lot of people on here having small bridal parties. I thought having one MOH and one Best Man seemed out of the ordinary…and I was hoping our guests didn't think it was because we don't have any friends! lol (we do have friends, broke college friends who can't all afford a DW). Reading all these posts make me feel better about my decision!
  6. I would love to purchase items that are traditional to the area of Riviera Maya, Mexico…but we are hesitant to go off the resort, and we figure anything that is for sale ON the resort will be much more expensive. Anyone have experience going off the resort and buying cheap items in town?
  7. I chose a local TA who my aunt travels through all the time. She has done several destination weddings. I had never used a TA before so I asked her upon our first meeting EXACTLY what it is that she takes care of. She basically said it is the paper work of the wedding, and booking everyones reservations. We have not had much contact, as I go through the resort for basically everything. A few times I had questions for the my TA, and she emailed the resort herself and took care of everything. Many of my guests have quoted prices cheaper online than what my TA has quoted, but she has told me to tell ALL of my guests to talk directly to her if that is the case, and she can at least match the prices. I am so sorry to hear that you had such a difficult time with your previous TA. This is their job….and they should NOT be telling you it is not an enjoyable experience for them for any reason! Best of luck!
  8. I currently weigh 145lbs (this may not seem like that much but I am only 5 foot tall!) In high school I always weighed around 115-120 (I am 23 now). My highest was back in January, I was 175lbs. I actually do low carb diets to lose weight (some people say this is unhealthy, but I am a nurse if low carb diets are done correctly, they are not bad for you!). I hope to lose 30 more pounds before my wedding which is in 7 months. I do not work out, at all (unless running around at work counts). I would like to get back down to 115 to make me feel better about myself, and look the best possible I can in my wedding dress! Great thread by the way, and good luck to you ladies all trying to lose (or gain!) weight.
  9. I know for us, we have had several guests (my parents being the main ones) wondering if they should book through our TA. My dad has found cheaper prices than what my TA has quoted us for…but I simply told him what my TA said…"If someone finds better prices, send them to me and I am sure I can at least match that price". Then we all get some sort of discount, and we all will be in the same area of the resort going through the TA. @@Dreamteam17 I would give gift bags to everybody! I certainly would be very upset if I were your parents friends and everyone else got gift bags but me. Although I do understand the frustration of people not booking through your TA. (Because really, it makes more work for for the bride and groom to keep everything and everyone organized!)
  10. Even though I am not to 150 posts yet, just yesterday alone I posted I think 20-30. I am just getting on everyday, and commenting on as much as I can…and now that I have started commenting, and getting replies, then I reply back and get even more comments…like I am doing with this reply We will get there!!
  11. You are so right…I guess I never though about it being my money, my decisions. I have full control over everything we choose, because hey we are paying for it. We also have been paying for as much in cash in advance as we can. The less closer to the wedding the better.
  12. Right I am terrified to fly with ANYTHING glass! Because unless you bring extra, if anything breaks you are out of luck. Plus, it weighs the suitcases down a lot more.
  13. We booked our wedding before the flights even became available. (For and estimated price until they came out, we looked at the cost to travel in the same month we were getting married but in the previous year). We sent STD's before pricing info was even available just so guests would know, hey I have a year to start saving money.
  14. I love all the pictures and plans of yours…thank you for sharing!
  15. I would DIY! There are tons of great ideas on pinterest and other website for DIY wedding photo booths.
  16. Do not feel guilty at all by what you can and cannot afford. It is YOUR wedding and YOUR day, and anything you want is acceptable in my opinion. I would verbally tell your family that there is not a reception but anyone who would like to go out to dinner afterwards is more than welcome to come, but the meal will not be provided by the bride and groom. Good luck to you!
  17. I was going to put some kind of sweets in welcome bags. We will hardly have any children attending our wedding, and as far as a candy bar goes…we will be have 4 course meal, AND cake…I think the guests will be too full to think about candy! Also, as far as traveling with glassware…if you DO a candy bar, I recommend a different type of arrangement for holding it all. (Plastic containers, baskets, some kind of bags)
  18. Can anyone give me details on welcome dinners for all of our guests? We really would like to have a welcome dinner in an actual restaurant, not the buffet. Can we just make reservations, does it cost extra, etc. Any tips or experience with this at Barcelo would be very much appreciated!
  19. @@MorganRene [email protected] MX +521.984.8069807 US +1.347.901.4875 That is the info off his website. (I use e-mail to contact him) He responds so quickly!!
  20. I should have done that with my email! Great advice! I did make a separate email, but I made it after the fact of already emailing all sorts of vendors and guests!
  21. I feel a lot better knowing most people on here are paying for their own wedding like myself. We are from the midwest, and typically around here the brides parents pay for most of the wedding expenses.
  22. You heard the tropical might be closed in 2015?? I hope not I think the tropical/colonial is where most of our guests will be staying! Most of our guests are getting to our wedding on wed/thurs, and our wed is fri…so hopefully we have time to do some kind of welcome dinner. The FI and I are getting to the resort a few days before them on Mon. I am excited to actually start seeing pictures of these renovations!
  23. Yes we had to put down a deposit before we were contacted by our WC. Our TA did all of that for us. We had to put down I think it was $150 for me, and $150 for my FI. I have tried to do everything as far ahead as time as possible so I do not have a lot to do and pay for when it gets close to our wedding. We have already bought my wedding dress, ring, and put our deposit down for our photographer and make up/styling team.
