  1. @@xxalex18 I am also a 5/15/15 bride! We are getting married at the Barcelo in Riviera Maya. Happy planning!
  2. Congrats everyone! Our wedding date is 5/15/15 at the Barcelo in Riviera Maya. Love seeing all these May 2015 brides!
  3. Unless someone wants to pay for an AHR, there is no way we are doing one! I have a lot of family who cannot attend my wedding. We also chose a destination wedding to keep costs down, and an AHR will just add to the cost. When we started planning our wedding, we had lots of people who asked if we were doing an AHR and we immediately told everyone NO. Our guests just knew that from the beginning and have not brought it up again! Hope this helps!
  4. I agree to book as early as possible. I contacted DJ Discomovil last month for my 5/15/15 wedding date and he was already booked! The sooner the better!
  5. We actually have not really heard any complaints about a destination wedding (although I am sure there are some!) We have just told people we would love for them to come to our wedding, and it would be a great vaca for them too…but if they don't want to come or it is too expensive we completely understand. Everyone who really wants to go is coming, and it seems happy to get a mini vaca for themselves too!
  6. We are having a three layer cake, bottom layer vanilla, middle chocolate, and top coconut. The FI and I are not really picky and will eat just about any type of cake in front of us, and these three options are flavors that all the guests will like at least one!
  7. Congratulations! Keep everyone updated on your plans!
  8. We put prices on our site, as well as our TA's info. Our prices were just a few general prices so guests had a ball park figure of costs. Here is a link to our wedding website: http://rcstromberg.wix.com/rosscelestewedding
  9. I am wondering the same thing. Our wedding is 5/15/15. I was thinking I would try to get the invitations out by Nov. All of our guests got STD's back around July. The guests that are planning on attending have pretty much already verbally RSVP'd (although we are still sending them invites) Is Nov fine for a May wedding?
  10. We booked Ivan Luckie. His prices are not listed on his website, but its worth the time to e-mail him. Seriously best prices I could find for such an amazing photographer! Our resort charges a $500 vendor fee to bring him on the resort, and after reading reviews I think that may be the best money I spend!
  11. My fiancé got a tungsten ring. ($200 from a local jewelry store) He is a mechanic and needed something very durable. We just purchased my wedding band ($900 after insurance from Jared). Both are beautiful!
  12. I am also getting married at the Barcelo in Riviera Maya, about a month before you (5/15/15). Any questions just ask. I have booked an outside photographer, and makeup/styling team. My WC is Xhail. Our ceremony and reception will both be at Playa Azul (ceremony starts at 6pm). Looking forward to hearing from you!
  13. My wedding is booked at the Barcelo in Riviera Maya. I did not really compare prices when booking (I have family who has stayed at this specific Barcelo and just absolutely loved it, so I went with this choice). The only thing with the Barcelo's is they do charge outside vendor fees. ($500 for photographer, $150 for make up/styling team, and $105/hr for outside DJ). I have chose outside vendors for all three of these choices. This resort is great though because it offers tons rooms with different prices which really helps our guests out. Any questions feel free to ask! My date is 5/15/2015!
  14. 5/15/2015 at Barcelo in Riviera Maya! Only 7 more months to go!
  15. Here is my site if anyone wants to check it out! http://rcstromberg.wix.com/rosscelestewedding I used wix.com
  16. I am trying to get to my 150 posts also…it is going to take forever!! Happy planning to all of you brides to be!
  17. I agree 12p is not enough time! I am having my ceremony at 6, and am thinking of starting the make up and hair around 12 or 1 (i only have myself and one or two others getting hair and make up done). But factor in eating lunch, and getting dressed (those dresses and undergarments take some time!), plus putting on accessories. Then extra time just in case you need to fix any part of your hair or make up…I would do 10am just to be safe. If you are having your hair and make up professionally done, it will last through the night!
  18. I still have some work to do on my site (especially for the timeline of events because we are still working on that…) but here is our site! Tell me what you think! http://rcstromberg.wix.com/rosscelestewedding
  19. I am in the same boat! I am planning my invitations now and after sending out my STD's several months ago, and already pretty much know who is NOT going, I figure I would rather have nicer invitations for the people who ARE actually going.
  20. We are probably going to do our own centerpieces. (I have heard the resorts are kind of pricey) We have found lots of options on Etsy, and right now are leaning towards this one: https://www.etsy.com/listing/113187200/glowing-initial-number-wedding?utm_source=Pinterest&utm_medium=PageTools&utm_campaign=Share We are definitely doing wedding bags! We are most likely going to buy tote bags in bulk online somewhere. The mother-in-law is super crafty so she can put just about anything on them that we want. We will for sure have some kind of hangover kit in there, not sure what else exactly yet. I would like some custom koozies. We will be putting an itinerary in there, as well as room info for every guest. I've read on here to have a list with every guests room numbers and phone ext. numbers so that guests can get in touch with other guests. Which hotel are you staying at? The Palace? We are staying at the colonial/tropical due to the price difference. Are you planning on going on any of the excursions? Also I forgot to answer a question of yours…we are just paying the outside vendor fee for the photographer.
  21. We had Estrella, but it just recently got switched to Xhail (she is on vaca until oct 10th though) We are at step 3 too! lol We hired Ivan Luckie as our photographer, the best moments for hair and makeup, and we are working on booking a dj now. What time is your ceremony? (ours is at 6PM). I think we are going to extend our reception for an hour as well. Where are you flying from? (St. Louis, MO here)
  22. We will be there until the 20th! We are only expecting about 30 guests, but are also hiring several outside vendors. Things really do add up! Who is your wedding coordinator? And where are you at with your planning?
  23. That is so exciting! Where is your reception and ceremony location? Ours are both at Playa Azul.
