2016 Moon Palace - Price From Vancouver
Wafflesmom replied to Wafflesmom's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
Hi @@JessicaBe congrats on your engagement and happy planning!!! We did manage to get a better deal than $2300 but not as good as $1699! We got ours down to $2023 (taxes in, double occupancy) with air Transat. Which carrier did you go with for that price? We are guaranteed a one time price adjustment if the price gets lower, there is a clause that they can only adjust if there's still space at the resort for all of our guests. I have a friend who paid $1700 for attending a wedding last year in October, and that's low season! So you really got a deal. The nice thing about Palace is that they give $1500 resort credits per room for 7 nights so it was a good incentive for guests to get credits!- 12 replies

Hi @@AMD and fellow Moon Palace bride I have a coworker who just stayed at Sun Palace last month. I can ask her if you like. I know that she said the food was great and that she loved it but not sure what it was like in terms of activities. Let me know if there are any questions you'd like me to ask her. There's also a forum on Facebook (if you're on there) for both Palace brides, and just a general Palace guests one. Lots of helpful people on there!

Why Do People Make Rsvps So Difficult!
Wafflesmom replied to sbodnar4's topic in Just venting or funnies
Hi @@sbodnar4, don't stress out as I think this is a common destination wedding issue. I also sent out save the dates via paperlesspost (so convenient and an easy way of tracking who has received it) and probably got 10% reply with an RSVP. I then followed it up with an email, with a letter given to me by my wonderful destination wedding travel agent that outlined cost of trip based on occupancy, amount of deposit and due dates for the deposit and final payment. I sent this out 2 months before the deposit deadline then sent out reminder email messages 1 month to deadline, 1 week then day before. Most of our guests booked the last two days before the deposits were due! I still have a few who haven't replied, though some have mentioned that they can't commit yet. So basically don't worry. As mentioned some don't know how destination weddings work. And with our wedding dates being so long from now, there will be a few who won't commit til the end. Just anticipate that this will happen.- 17 replies

When To Start Dress Shopping
Wafflesmom replied to TheBHolders's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
@@TheBHolders, my wedding is in January 2016 and I bought my wedding dress on October 2014, 14 months beforehand! I took a gamble at a sample sale and of course, fell in love with the first dress I tried on. It will be hard to make sure that I stay the same size and have minimal weight gain (or loss but don't think that will happen lol) but I have no regrets as I am in love with my dress. It's just more of a motivation to stay active! The consultants weren't at all weird when they found out our wedding date. I say go for it if you want to go. I did see the dress you found and that was gorgeous on you. Why won't it fit, too big? -

Hi @@ChocolateBride! Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the destination bride sisterhood Wedding planning has been fun so far but I say that with still a year ahead of me. April may be better temperature-wise if you're worried about heat wouldn't it? As a fellow Canadian bride, I love my destination wedding planner. The travel agent I use is from BC but I know she's travelled to Toronto recently for a bridal show. If you're interested, please let me know. She's really great at replying right away and has tons of contacts. She travels every month to Mexico and Dominican Republic to meet and greet with a lot of resorts and their wedding department. I was impressed that my resort wedding coordinator knew her by name, and assured me I was in good hands! So far all of my guests and I have been very impressed with her services. Since you're considering Beach Palace, the company has great contacts with Palace Resorts so this could be helpful to you. And as a fellow Palace bride, I can help you with that too. There's a great forum on Facebook for Palace brides that you may want to join. With this forum and that one, you'll be in great hands!

Newly Engaged Canadian Planning Destination Wedding!
Wafflesmom replied to natalia555's topic in Newbies!!
Hi @@natalia555, congratulations on your engagement! Meeting with a travel agent is a great first step but I do agree with @@kmk2016 that an agent who specializes in destination weddings is a great asset to have. Make a list of what is important to you (e.g. Price, adults only, beach, etc) and this could help you limit your choices. There are so many wonderful resorts so I know it can get overwhelming! All the brides (and some grooms) on here are really helpful so don't be afraid to ask questions -

@@FutureMrsGarcia I'm so glad you found it on your contract and it will save you money! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they honour it. I don't see why they wouldn't, it's a contract they drafted! And I agree with you about LatinAsia. I'm also going with them and they're so easy to communicate with, very prompt. They have great vision and try to work with your budget. I'm just finalizing my contact with them, so excited!

Newbie Bride June 2015 Wedding Moon Palace Resort
Wafflesmom replied to NMungarro's topic in Newbies!!
Hi @@NMungarro welcome to the forum and congrats on your engagement and 2015 wedding! I'm also getting married at Moon Palace so I can try to help you out but I've never been there and my wedding is later than yours, it's actually in 2016. Any questions you may have, feel free to ask. Even though my wedding is still a year away, I've booked a few vendors already. For hair and makeup, I've booked Styling Trio.nthey have great reviews and is an onsite vendor. For photography I went with an outside vendor, Samuel Luna. I love his photography style and with the outside vendor fee, he was still cheaper than the in-house palace photographer. For decor Palace has three in-house vendors and I went with LatinAsia. They are so nice and easy to communicate with. They have a great vision and works with your budget. I'm still looking into a DJ but have heard that DJ Discomovil has a great rate and is worth it even after the vendor fee. Hope that helps a bit. -
@@samFEB2016 and @@sbodnar4 I was a bridesmaid for a 2010 destination wedding at Riu Palace in Cabo and you've both chosen a great resort. The rooms were clean as were the pools. It was very relaxing and service was wonderful. My friend opted against having a bar and honestly, I didn't even notice. The bars are close by and we'd just grab drinks after going to the washroom. I do remember some of the servers getting us drinks for us (tipping generously may have helped )

@@zoeknight20 and @@FutureMrsGarcia double check your wedding contract to see what they quoted you to extend your reception. Mine says an additional $65USD for additional hour of staff. Hopefully it will say $60 there for you. I'm a moon palace bride but it should be the same for all palace brides right?

Thank you @@tygrrlily for the very detailed review. You look absolutely gorgeous in your photos, your photographer was great. And I can't believe you have your photos already! You've given me a lot of things to think about for our wedding, especially the prep part. Styling Trio is doing our hair and makeup and were slotted for three hours too. They're doing mine, my MOH, two bridesmaids, MOG and MOB. I should double check how many stylists they're sending or we'll definitely be pressed for time too. When you asked for Adrian to be there, was it to consult or actually do your hair and makeup? And the photo idea is great, I think I'll buy one of those cameras and set it up during our cocktail hour.

@@Surfingsara I love shoes, my fiancé says I have an addiction lol I love those Tommy Bahamas they do look comfy! And the $2000 sandals are gorgeous but if you aren't comfy in high high heels, that would not be worth it! I'm looking forward to trying on shoes and seeing how well I can walk in them. I love heels but will have to wear them only for the reception part since our ceremony in on the beach. @@Kawtarz1991 what are you looking for in a resort (e.g. Nice beach, size of resort, price, etc). We love Moon Palace because we wanted our guests to feel like they don't have to be with the wedding group the whole week. Plus there's tons of wedding benefits with palace resorts!

Thank you somuch for your review @@NJBride2014, it's really helpful for me. Although I'm not a LeBlanc bride, I am a Palace bride so a few of the things you mentioned really helped. I have Elizabeth as my offsite planner as well and she has been so helpful! I love how responsive she is and she's been so honest in terms of telling me what will or will not work for the venue (I didn't do a site visit so this has been so helpful). Thanks again and happy new year
