  1. Thanks @JenniferH11. it sounds like you had a great session! Love the cocktail break in between And it's nice you were able to take it in a different setting that means a lot to you both
  2. @@calgarybride2015 I thought of this (great minds think alike ) and sent them an email. I think it's my middle-child syndrome but I love the spotlight and anytime I can find an excuse to go shopping I'd take it! Lol
  3. @@SteeleTheSpotlight that's a pretty good price for 3 hours, and 3 locations! Plus all the photos, I would go for that. Ideally I'd like photos in an urban setting (maybe downtown), by a lame and at a forest. Like Colorado, we have amazing sceneries in BC and I'd like to take advantage of it. So far the best offer we've had is $600 for 2 locations, 2 hours and 100-125 edited photos. They're great photographers and you get two principal photographers in the package but that seems like a lot. And yes, what are you going to wear? Lol
  4. We had our family photos taken two years ago by a local photographer for $100 and it was 1-2 hours long and she gave us all the images on a cd. I would hire her in a heartbeat but she's out of the country for a few years. Thanks for the tip Kim, I'll look on kijiji.
  5. @@calgarybride2015 theft at the airport in Mexico? I've never even thought about this.
  6. @@ashhtayy I'm so glad my post helped you out. And I'm glad you got more perks, I should ask if I can get more lol. Perhaps the champagne, thanks for this tip @
  7. @@LisaAnthonyPoppy, I never even thought about this, we were planning on just having it in our carry-on. Sorry for my ignorance but who would confiscate it? Border officials from which side? These are important things to be aware of so thanks for asking this question!
  8. We're at 11 months until our wedding and figure that it's time to have our engagement photos done. I love photos and so I'd really love to have engagement photos taken. Plus, we wanted to have pictures of us with our two-year old puppy and have a picture of the three of us displayed at our cake table. That way, our puppy can be a part of our wedding. So I've contacted a few local photographers and have received a few quotes ranging from $300-600 for two hours, all edited digital files on a disk. I've asked a few of my friends what the average price is for engagement sessions so I at least have a base price to compare the quotes to but most had their session included in their overall wedding photography package. I figure that the best to ask would be my fellow destination brides. So ladies, what did you pay for your engagement session and what was included?
  9. Hi @@Smellsey that's a tough one. Is your fiancé's grandpa coming for sure? Does he know that your grandma already has a roommate? Maybe he's changed his mind so she's not alone. I agree that it's hard to have your aunt pay more when everything was already worked out in terms of rooming!
  10. We booked at the end of September with Air Transat and am getting every 11th person free up to a max of 4 free people. I didn't even know these promotions change, I'm glad we booked when we did We're also getting free seat selections, a reserved overhead bin for my wedding dress, priority check in and an extra 10 kg of luggage. As of today, 11 more months
  11. @ I've been thinking about this! I'm so torn now since waking up and having breakfast together sounds so lovely but at the same time, I wonder if it would take away from the "first look" moment? I know it will be different with both of us dressed up and about to get married, but would not seeing each other until a few moments before saying "I do" make it better? I think I've watched too many rom-coms lol
  12. Your hard work has totally paid off! You look fantastic in your dress 18 days?!?! Woohoo!!! Can't wait to see pics!
  13. Thanks for the message @@ashhtayy, congrats on your engagement! We locked in on a package with Air Transat and I'm glad I did! The prices have gone up, if I thought they were expensive before, they've gone up even more! How's the wedding planning coming along? I'm also a 2016 bride
  14. That's a beautiful headband, I wouldn't have guessed that it's not from a bridal store! And I agree that an updo will have the most staying power for the whole day. I've seen beautiful long curly hair at beachweddings and I'm always in awe of how beautiful it looks but that's from a single pic. Knowing me, my hair will probably stick to my sweaty neck which would not look great in pics! And that jewellery with the headband is a great combo
  15. I love the thank you cards Kim! Don't worry about the photo wrapping around the back, at least the pics are clear and are beautiful. Well maybe you can start planning vow renewals already lol
  16. I hope you're feeling better! Like the other ladies have said, I don't think you need to be worried about your alterations. I'm sure they'll be done on time. I'm Filipino so no need to pre-tan beforehand. Good thing since I'm terribly claustrophobic and would hate to have to go on those tanning beds!
  17. @ I love everything you've done so far! You are so creative! I especially love that centerpiece with the shell. Looks tropical and classy I love the coral bridesmaid's dress, especially with the jewels on the third pic. My colours are coral and grey!
  18. Hi @ I've also lost a parent and feel your pain. My dad died a while ago, when I was 6. Even though it was so long ago, it still makes me sad especially the thought of not being able to have the father/daughter dance Or him not being able to walk me down the aisle. I'll still have him with me though, I'm attaching a locket with his picture to my bouquet Regarding your dress, I think you look beautiful in all of them though I do love you in both #1 and #2. I think it's perfectly normal to feel unsure of your dress, especially since we all want to be perfect on our wedding day. There's so many choices out there so it just gets so confusing! I say try on #1 again on Monday and see if you still feel the same as you did when you first try it on. Perhaps that will erase all the uncertainty in your mind.
  19. You are a genius! They look so comfy, I'm definitely taking a page out of your playbook and buying a pair thanks @@LisaAnthonyPoppy
  20. Hi fellow Canadian bride, and fellow January 2016 bride!!! I can't believe the quotes you've received for departure out of Toronto. Those sound more like Vancouver prices! I'll be sure to follow your thread, I hope you get great quotes soon. We're also budgeting for $10,000 for just wedding (ceremony and reception costs. What affects this the most is the number of guests and resort you choose. Some have really great wedding incentives like palace resorts while some have wedding packages that are really reasonable like Grand Sirenis (see @@calgarybride2015 's planning thread and review). definitely take advantage of the reviews from other brides on here. That may give you a sense of the budget needed for the resorts you've narrowed it down to.
  21. That's an awesome idea! I've never taken ballet before so please excuse if this is a stupid question but are they quite comfy? I do like the idea of not having to worry about losing my shoes or having pains from lack of arch support or ill fitting shoes. Our reception is also on a terrace with concrete. I wanted heels but not realistic if I'm wearing barefoot sandals. The length of the dress would be all wrong!
  22. @@LisaAnthonyPoppy Luckily the fire wasn't at the bridal store my dress was in but I was worried of the possibility! I can't imagine how the brides felt, the store was completely burned down! @@calgarybride2015, I'm glad her dress was ok. 1 week before? Yikes! And thank you @@tygrrlily and @@nadiakat17 for the advice
