Chair In Memory Of Mother
Wafflesmom replied to veryvalentine's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
@@acw271011 when my dad passed away, my mom was left to take care of an 8 year old, 6 year old and 3 year old. His last year was spent in the hospital since he was having treatment for intestinal cancer. I do get sad at times not knowing if the memories I have of him are real or if they're made from stories and pictures. My younger brother doesn't remember him too much. My mom never remarried and basically sacrificed her social life to raise the three of us. I can't ever repay her enough for her sacrifice. She's my hero and role model. If I could have even an ounce of her strength, I'd consider myself lucky!- 26 replies

Hi @@nelmo, congrats on securing your date and venue!!! Have you been appointed your offsite coordinator? Ok so when it comes to approved vendors, all Palace brides have run into the same problem you have, which is not getting the full list of approved vendors. I know that a lot has changed in the wedding department so before contacting anyone on the list I write down, confirm with your coordinator that they are still an approved vendor. If they are, save that email in case the company no longer becomes approved come your wedding date. They will honour this and not charge you fees! So the list I know of (which may be dated) is: Audiovisual: JSAV and PSAV Decoration: Gama, Zuniga and LatinAsia Flowers: Palace and LatinAsia Live Entertainment: a Tempo Consulting Hair and Makeup: Palace salon, Styling Trio and MVP Photographer and videographer: Dreamart Photo booth: La Cabina Now this list may not be complete so any other palace bride, feel free to add or delete to this list. In terms of the family photographer, I'm sorry I have no idea. We hired an outside vendor.

Chair In Memory Of Mother
Wafflesmom replied to veryvalentine's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
@@veryvalentine I'm sorry to hear about your mom. My dad passed away when I was only 6 years old but still miss him dearly. I get sad at the thought of not having a father/daughter dance but I know he'll be there in spirit. My mom raised three kids on her own and I admire her for her strength. So it was a no brainer that she will be walking me down the aisle. I did want to honour my dad so thanks to @@calgarybride2015 I will be attaching a locket with his photo to my bouquet. My mom never remarried so I will be saving a seat for my dad at the front with a framed phrase that states "Dad, you would be here today if heaven wasn't so far away". For the reception, I will have a frame that states, "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed and held so dear". This will be in honour of my dad, my grandfather and Derrick's grandmother who have all passed away. This may be an option for you if you don't want to make it awkward for anyone.- 26 replies

Thanks @! So the coupon works on top of the sale price? Were you able to use two coupons two but two boxes at the same time? Or did you have to pay for each separately? And thank you guys for the pepto tip! I was going to buy rolls of tums but it's not the same I agree @@veryvalentine, this forum is awesome!!!

Meandhim - Grand Palladium Bavaro - Nov 2015
Wafflesmom replied to Meandhim's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
@meanwhile I love the hair ideas! And I think that hair piece will look good with a ribbon. It will look so romantic. Maybe ask your friend what she thinks since she'll be able to determine if it will go with your style inspiration or not. And I can't believe the price went up on those dresses! Definitely worth waiting if you're not in a rush -
Sparklers! (Reception, First Dance)
Wafflesmom replied to veryvalentine's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
@@veryvalentine I've been wanting to do this as well but not sure how feasible it is to get sparklers so thanks for starting the thread! @ thanks for the tip on asking your photographer, I'll see if he can get some for me. Do you guys think you can light them by having lit candles (bigger ones) say maybe a few or one on each table then use those to light the sparklers? The candles would have to be in a bigger hurricane vase so they stay lit. If outside and windy, it may be hard to get a lighter lit!- 32 replies

@@snswedding2016 thanks for the tip on the badge holders and wrist coils. I've been trying to find good sellers, particularly to Canada! And your OOT bag contents are great! I'm sure all of their sales are consistent across the country, London drugs has Emergen-c on sale for $10.99 and there's a $5 off coupon on the emergen-c website. I was going to go today to try to see if the coupon works on top of the sale. I'll keep you posted!

@@vancouverpetunia Blue, green and purple (peacock colours) are so elegant. I love that colour scheme. And those robes totally match your vision. If you're not planning on wearing a dressy dress, then I would suggest not going to a bridal store. A lot of the dresses were quite formal so you may be limited. Have you checked out Main Street (around 25th and 16th). They have some great boutiques with beautiful dresses. My favourite is Barefoot Contessa. They have an Instagram page where you can check out their new arrivals. Aside from that, the Bay (especially online) has been wowing me lately with their dress selections. Plus it's Bay days right now so there's plenty of dresses on sale. I'll keep thinking for you but those come to mind.

@@vancouverpetunia you're in great company, there are a lot of planners on here, myself included You're lucky you did a site visit, we unfortunately aren't able to but we've had a lit of friends who gave been to Moon Palace and have assured us that we're in good hands. What have you decided on in terms of colours? Ours are coral and grey. I'm not sure if you're thinking about getting ready robes but La Vie En Rose is currently have a 3 for 1 sale and there's a peach, and a navy kimono that's included. They are pretty so I got some and took advantage of the sale!

Hi @@amberc welcome to the site! It's great to see another BC bride We were at Puerto Vallarta last year and absolutely enjoyed it. We stayed close to the Malecon so we walked around everyday. It was beautiful at night and I felt so safe, the locals were really friendly. Since we were there last year, we figured that we'd visit the other side now. How's the planning coming along? This site is great when it comes to tips and the bride's on here are awesome! Everyone is helpful so don't hesitate to ask any questions.

@@eriddell thanks so much! Saw your post and went to the mall before the sell out. I got the peach/pink ones for my bridesmaids. I wanted the plain white satin kimono for myself but it wasn't on sale. The sales lady took pity on me and gave it to me for 40% off!! Woohoo, came out of there with 4 robes and saved about $107. Thank you so much, one more to check off my list. Oh and my mom liked them so now I have yo go back and get the navy ones for the two moms.

@@SteeleTheSpotlight I've been wondering how your wedding planning is going. It's coming up quick! I can see you've been busy! Everything looks great, really love the luggage tags. What a great idea! And your bridesmaids travel bags are great. I'll have to drop by sephora to try that land cream. As for the robes, thanks for the review! How are the sizes, are they true to size or do they fit smaller or bigger?

@@TinkerSofi I looove those shoes, the pink ones are really nice I do agree that these will look gorgeous with your wedding gown. I love the bow and rhinestones on the ankle cuff. Elegant with bling, can't go wrong with that! I'm a big fan of brightly coloured shoes with wedding dresses. I'm also looking for a pink/coral or blue (for something blue). Since I have time, I'm waiting for a trip across the border to try them on. And don't return the other sandals. Maybe shoes for your semi-private dinner? As for your timeline, I think mingling at the bar or lounge would better so it's not as formal. I find that long tables aren't conducive to getting to know a lot of ppl, just those around you. Why don't you just have everyone meet at the lounge an hour or two before the dinner for everyone so ppl get to mingle before dinner? Then just make a separate reservation for your rehearsal dinner? Would that work? As for your wedding day, I've been told that the optimal light for sunset pics is an hour before sunset. So if sunset is at 7:19, maybe moving the ceremony to 5-5:30 would be best since optimal time would be 6:19. Then you can take pics from 5:30-6:45 and start reception at 7. The sun sets so quickly that you may lose a lot of light by 7. This Wil ensure light and beautiful sunset pics for your couple shots

Woohoo, so glad to hear that it's all worked out and they're able to order a new dress in time. That's one less stress you don't need and you can now focus on other things. I knew it would all work out for you, see another hurdle you were able to overcome. And you've lost 8 lbs? Way to go, such an inspiration to all of us. Just make sure you're still getting some rest in between all the workouts. I don't want you getting sick again! P.S. Wow I sounded like my mom lol
