Thanks @@calgarybride2015 Der didn’t complain at all about the wardrobe change. Though I did keep it simple for him by just having him change shirts and I made sure they were clothes he's comfy in. He even went shopping with me for them! Proof that he loves me lol

Aww thanks @ It's funny but until that day, I had never been to that Park. It was so beautiful there and it was a beautiful May day. After an hour of taking pics, my smile started getting stiff and fake. To relax me, Derrick would randomly stick his finger in my ear when he was holding my face lol He's such a dork but it totally worked! Oh and while we were having photos taken, we tied up Waffle to a tree. As people were walking by, they started taking pics of her. She was having her own photo session lol

Engagement Photos I've realized that I haven't posted our engagement photos. Right away, I knew I wanted engagement photos. One, I love photos and believe that it's important to capture memories. Two, I wanted photos of us with our dog, Waffle. We initially chose spring as a good time to take photos so that we can take advantage of the beautiful backdrop cherry blossoms make during the season. Plus, it would look different from our wedding photos which would be more beachy. We scheduled for May but unfortunately because BC summer came earlier this year, we missed out on the cherry blossoms. Instead we chose to highlight the Pacific Westcoast beauty that surrounded us everyday. Here are a few of my favourites (sorry for the photo overload)

@ you don't have sausage fingers, size 5.5 is actually below average. I think 6 is the average ring size for women. Haha Iove that story. Just make sure you don't complain about your ring spinning then! Ever since I got mine resized, it spins less. I had to get my e-ring resized since I apparently lose weight/inches off my fingers first. Why couldn't it have come off my stomach instead? Lol

Thanks @@yycbride2016 I wish we could wear them already instead of them just sitting in the safe. @ I know, Der really shocked me when he came up with that design. He was initially going to go with black diamonds but he went with white to match my rings. I tried on an alternating pink Sapphire and white Diamond band but it didn't look good with my e-ring. And yup, everyone laughs when they see my ring size. It even fits my nephew's fingers (he's 9 by the way) lol

Meandhim - Grand Palladium Bavaro - Nov 2015
Wafflesmom replied to Meandhim's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
I am so glad to hear that your Nan is feeling better. She is such a strong woman and I hope she lives well past any of the doctor's estimates. As for your wedding planning, wow you've done a great job. I love the boutonnieres, they're so original and really classy looking. I'm gonna have to steal yours (and @snswedding2016) guestbook idea. I think it's such a great idea to have something like that in the welcome bag. And you must be one patient woman to fill all those bottles. They look beautiful, such a great idea. As for the dress alterations, I don't think I'm a good person to ask. Our wedding is in January and I'm already gonna go in for fittings next month. The seamstress I trust with my dress will be away in Europe for two months (November and December) so I had no choice but to do it early. Well I suppose I could have found another seamstress but I'm loyal to her LOL -
Thanks @@ashhtayy! I was surprised that he turned down a watch and then turned around and put so much effort into his wedding band. The jeweller even inticed him with a rolex and he still chose the wedding band! Since the design was a little more intricate, his ring was pricier. But it was well worth it!

@@calgarybride2015 thank you so much! I love how both rings turned out and I can't wait till we get to wear them. Our jeweler was very good at giving us valuable tips and advice when designing our rings. And I agree about the effort in trying o your wedding dress. That's what has prevented me from trying it on this whole time lol

Wedding bands: So we've picked up our wedding bands When we initially got engaged, my coworker told me that I should go to his jeweler since was reputable and would be cheaper since he is a wholesale jeweler. Plus, I knew that a custom wedding band would be the best route for me since my fingers are so small (size 3.5) and it would be too hard to find something in store that would line up perfectly with my e-ring. With the advice of our jeweler, I actually ended up with an eternity band, that way I wouldn't have to worry about lining up the diamonds (I didn't want to solder them together). So this is what my rings look like together As for Derrick's ring, he surprisingly decided to design his own custom ring. I was shocked since he's always said he wanted a "wedding watch" instead of a ring. But as we talked to our jeweler and he looked at men's wedding bands, he decided to design his own. He researched different looks and ended up designing a rose gold band, with a band of white gold in the middle, then a row of three diamonds perpendicular to the band. It looks gorgeous and he's so excited to wear it. He tried it on and he now says it's too tight (I think he's just not used to wearing rings). Good thing we didn't buy tungsten, at least if it is tight, we can resize it! This is what our rings look like together

@@ashhtayy Mike and Derrick sound alike! LOL Derrick has no idea what my dress looks like. It's so funny, everytime I watch "Say Yes to the Dress" I'll ask him if he likes the dress and he won't say anything. He says he's afraid to comment in case he says something critical and it turns out to look like my dress. Smart man! LOL

@@ashhtayy that is seriously a great price. It's such a beautiful dress and it hugs you in all the right places! Derrick and I ended up getting both of our rings from our jeweler. I will post it on my thread tonight. He was definitely great to work with and pricing was great (although we did end up going over-budget on Derrick's ring....yup, the man who initially didn't even want a ring!) LOL

@@ashhtayy and @ yup, it's in my closet I bought my dress last October and the bridal salon was nice enough to hold it for me until about May. They couldn't hold it for too long since they had to make room for all their new dresses. I was like you and was worried about my dress getting lost, accidentally sold or like you said, lost in a fire. By the way, that totally happened to a bridal store here and a lot of brides lost their dresses (it can happen). I have room in our closet for it and Derrick promised me that he wouldn't peek if we stored it at home. I was going to ask my mom to store it at her house but I was scared it would smell like food! LOL My mom's is your typical Filipino house that smells like home cooking all the time. I was worried the smell of fried foods would stick to the dress....can you imagine walking down the aisle smelling like fried chicken? LOL So it's now in our closet. I actually look at it every week and love my dress more and more. I've been wanting to try it on but I have no one to help me zip it up. I've asked Derrick if he would help me zip it up (eyes closed). He refused and said he didn't even want to know beforehand what it feels like LOL

@@yycbride2016 you have been so good, do not let a weekend get you down. Like @@calgarybride2015 said, you've been working out so much that I hardly doubt a weekend would cancel it all out. Just consider the last weekend d as even more motivation to get you going! And @@calgarybride2015 I had a bad weekend too. Camping meant too many roasted marshmallows, chips and a whole lot of drinking. My body is not happy with me right now, I haven't been able to retain anything in the last two days.

@@calgarybride2015 thanks for the encouragement! Those are really good and healthier alternatives. We try to not keep junk in our cupboards too since the temptation is too strong! I'm glad we saved the deep freezer. We went on our annual fishing trip over the august long weekend and we would have had to throw out 93lbs of salmon! I would have cried! Your goals are also very realistic and you sound so motivated! I have no doubts you'll get to the gym over the weekend and get back to the weights in no time. The scale can be so deceiving. Between water weight, increase muscle mass and time of the month, our weight can fluctuate so much! Don't let it get you down

@@deecol @ I don't need any more convincing, we're sticking with it. If it still gives you chills, maybe you should keep it too

@ deecol you've been so good, don't let one slip-up get you down! Like you said, today is a new day and today you'll have great success because you're more determined now. And thank you so much for all the lunch/meal ideas. You've given me a lot to work with @@calgarybride2015 I agree that we can't completely deprive ourselves or it will be unrealistic. But I do have a hard time stopping myself too. I've now started putting snacks in a bowl that's pre-portioned. At least when I'm done, I can't keep eating more like a zombie lol Ok so check-in time: - This week wasn't the best for me eating-wise. Because of the power outage (46 hours without electricity) I ate a lot of fast food over the weekend. We managed to save food in our deep freezer but everything in the fridge, including fruits and veggies were thrown out I have yet to go grocery shopping but I have been good and bought healthier choices for lunch and dinner. Still not ideal but good given the circumstances. - So far I have exercised twice (pilates and bootcamp) and am going to a pilates class tonight - In terms of wedding planning, Derrick and I have picked up our custom wedding bands! Woohoo, one thing to cross off our list. We also got our napkin ring place cards and cake topper in the mail, and one of our bridesmaid's outfit (will post this on my planning thread soon) Goals for the week: - Go grocery shopping and start meal prepping for the week. I will plan all our meals for the week to make sure we're making better and healthier choices. - we're going camping this weekend so I will try to not eat as much junk food as I typically would. It's gonna be hard when marshmallows are roasting! - Exercise at least 3x and go on more walks with my dog - For wedding planning, find and buy Derrick's wedding attire/suit and also find and buy my last bridesmaid's dress.
