  1. Hi Ladies! If anyone is looking for an affordable and great quality photographer, I would definitely look into using Octavio Montes! www.octaviomontes.com We got married at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe in June 2015. We found that Octavio's prices were FAR better and more affordable than the resort photographer. Even though you have to pay an outside vendor fee at the resort, we found that it was still cheaper to use Octavio....and you get so many more pictures and options. The resort photographer is honestly too expensive for getting hardly any pictures. The pictures came out amazing. We got everything that we asked for! Octavio was always available for questions and always answered quickly. It is very hard to plan a wedding from afar, but Octavio made it simple! I had no doubt that working with him would be wonderful, and it really was everything I hoped for! Please let me know if you want any more information!
  2. @@SammyMac Hi! I got married this past June. We had 50 people attend. Our ceremony was on the beach right outside the Mariachi Grille, cocktail hour on the beach, and then the reception in the Mariachi Grille. We were not going to pay for a cocktail hour, but ended up getting it for free because the travel agency that we used gave us one for free as part of our package for working with them. The rehearsal dinner process was a little annoying, but ended up working out. As we were told by our WC, we could reserve tables at a restaurant for only up to 25 people. Anything more than 25 you had to do it buffet style in one of the buffets at the resort. We ended up having 26 people at the rehearsal dinner and they let that slide to reserve a restaurant. We had it at the Santa Fe Steakhouse, which was very nice. However, it had to be a set menu where we had to pick exactly what everyone was eating. It was a very nice night, but I felt that it was kind of rushed so they could get us out of there. Please let me know if you have any more questions and I can try to answer them as best as I can! Christine
  3. @@yooyooo No problem! The Tropical is right next door to the Palace, so it's the closest in walking distance. If you're staying in the Oaxaca building at the Palace, it's like a 5 minute walk. I don't think it would be much of a problem at all!
  4. Hi everyone! I recently got married at the Palace on June 27, 2015. We had a beach ceremony, cocktail hour on the beach, and then the reception at the Mariachi Grille. Everything was amazing! To answer your question about the getting ready... My fiancé and groomsmen all ended up getting ready in our room and my bridesmaids and I got ready in my mother's room (which was a floor above us) since that is where I was keeping my dress anyway. It worked out well with the photographer. She went to do the groom getting ready, and then came to us before the ceremony to take "Getting ready" pictures. Please let me know if you have any questions and I can try to answer them the best I can! Christine
