  1. I'm so sorry about all this stress and you are not being selfish, everyone deserves a day to remember with family and friends if that's what they want. I really like the Secrets and Excellence resorts so if it has to be PC then maybe start there? Wish I could be mroe helpful. I would say too that Sept-end of Nov is generally hurricane season so get travel insurance and a rain plan just in case. or think about May which is usually a shoulder season for some resorts
  2. im stuck too. we're doing a catamaran trip but i wanted to give a small favor like a shell-topped wine stopper and/or home made sea salt (we love wine and cooking). really not sure about this
  3. I have a small party at a beach club so no chair issue for me but, the hidden/unexpected fees have been the wire transfer fees, the paypal conversion fees (US to MX), and credit card international fees!
  4. Nope, only myself and FI will be doing them. I really don't like the fuss
  5. Good luck, surgery is never fun but then there's always the real housewives to catch up on
  6. Think about a wedding planner, they will help find you deals, will know what places may be open on your date, and help keep you stress-free, this has been priceless for us
  7. I don't have enough posts to open ,.the file, but paleo diet will get you the same thing. I'm strength training ang following the diet loosely (i kept the dairy but cut the carbs in half and increased protein). I'm losing about 1-2 lbs a week consistently over the past 10weeks and I don't feel deprived because it's just better food choices, good luck ladies!
  8. We're doing the bag with welcome letter, map, and brochure of things to do/helpful info around the island. Maybe including a hangover kit but otherwise, I really don't think anyone is even expecting an OOT bag (unless they spend time lurking around this site lol). I figure they'll appreciate the snorkel sailboat tour more than anything thing with our monogram when they look back on the whole thing anyway.
  9. We shopped Nordstrom Rack and Macy's before finding one on clearance at TJ Maxx of all places
  10. Welcome and think about a wedding planner, best money we ever spent!
  11. gorgeous dress! wear what you want; if you're both comfortable, you're both happy. My FI is wearing a linen suit with a linen shirt and sandals
  12. @@tygrrlily @@calgarybride2015 @@Lia33 being drunk the day of is exactly why my FI is doing his bachelor party this weekend and NOT in Mexico lol. had mine 3 weeks ago and my sis planned everything which was great because i could not possibly plan anything else right now. pretty low key compared to what he no doubt has coming his way
  13. Check with your location about renting lights that are connected to each other and anchored to the bottom or edge of the pool
  14. I'm clearly in the minority here, but I think people want to give gifts. Not everyone will, but for those who do, some direction would be appreciated (I know I would appreciate it). So we are doing a registry more because we are having a big going away party (instead of the AHR due to being married near the holidays). And also partly because I think even some who will be coming to Mexico will want to give something, even if it's small. Since we live together, we have a honeymoon registry and a registry with mostly gift cards for our favorite restaurants and the pet store (we love our dog!) in $25 increments. I think this will be greatly appreciated by folks and if we get nothing, no big deal.
  15. @@calgarybride2015 @@TinkerSofi more dresses does = more confusion, doesn't it?!? and i know what you mean, what if, what if? I keep trying my dress on too just to remember and it always works! i would go to the grocery store in that thing if I could, lol
  16. Love this thread and watching the styles change over time and how unique everyone is!
  17. Hmm... Can't DIY this but I'm not sure how they're gonna fit his long name on the hanger either! So I'll probably end up with a pretty hanger as a keepsake. I'm pretty tied to my last name too, personally and professionally. Since I don't have a middle name, my last name will become my middle name. It's a nice psychological compromise I think And NJBride2014 I just saw your hanger-lovely! I swear we are the same person! We have a lot of the same style pics lol
