I don't see any reason not to tell him? Our immediate families were both involved in the planning of ours and I liked having both opinions etc -
To Invite Or Not To Invite?
nadiakat17 replied to jeffandrobyn's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Ugh I know, wedding is really making me rethink the friendships in my life it's kind of ridiculous the reasons they give The amount of people not RSVPing is driving me up a wall too. They are officially due by January 1 , one girl just messaged me and was like I hope I get a few days off to fly down for the weekend .. She better figure this out in the next two wks what is wrong with these "smart" people?!? -
When To Give Bridesmaid Gifts?
nadiakat17 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Since I only have two, I was probably going to spend near 100$ each bc I keep thinking of new ideas lol. I'm doing a bottle of wine with a life vest to go around it ( designs for wine bottles too cute) , flip flops , bracelet, necklace, earrings to wear for ceremony and a makeup bag with some makeup and nail polish in it -
When To Give Bridesmaid Gifts?
nadiakat17 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Thanks! We were actually going to Costco when we get there so I will buy it there. Don't want to lug it lol -
Hi- I am planning to give my 2 bridesmaids gifts that include makeup, bottle of wine, flip flops. I would have liked to give them to them on the day of the wedding, but that way they wont really get to enjoy the presents during the trip, since we leave 2 days later. What are you guys planning to do? I was also thinking just adding them to their OOT bags that we plan to give when people arrive
-
my parents are paying for the big stuff of my wedding- food/drinks/venue. We are paying for everything else like décor, OOT bags, invites etc, because I would feel weird asking money for that. Part of the reason I chose a destination wedding is because I feel like it is silly spending 25000+ for 1 day here in the states, even if I am not paying for it. Again even though i am not paying for some things, i am still conscious of budget and am going for all lower cost things. I also am having my brother take the pictures, friend film it, and use an Ipod instead of DJ. My parents are more or less cool with anything I pick. I feel lucky they are providing me with such a gift, as we could afford to pay for it.

Catholic Destination Brides--What To Tell People?
nadiakat17 replied to rachelia160's topic in Newbies!!
I kind of wanted to have a cute little ceremony thing with family but my FI is insistent we just go in jeans ourselves to fill out the paperwork as he doesn't want it to detract from our wedding. Since I'm not having a Church ceremony if people ask I say I'm just going to file the legal paperwork in the US and they usually stop asking. Or they ask if my friend who is officiating is ordained ( she is, so I tell them that) If it gets further I explain how there is a lot of fees, time, hassle, blood work to legally marry in Mexico and most people with destination weddings marry legally beforehand and everyone has understood -
Cards And Pockets Gold Pockets
nadiakat17 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade or Freebies!
This is what it looks like- I put the ribbon on mine as an idea but selling them just the way they came ( plain). They open up to glue an invite in and add inserts ( about resort etc) you can look at more pics /get dimensions on the Cards and Pockets website thanks -
This is exactly why I didn't want people I know are very much single to have "and guest" on the invite! unfortunately I don't think people really think about this stuff. I want my wedding with my best friends and family- and yes, significant others even if I haven't met them if they are big parts of my family/friends lives- but not some random friend. I feel like if they really wanted this, they can at least ask me. to be fair, all the singles that are coming are parts of groups of friends/family so they each have multiple friends coming and are rooming with them. And I feel like if I had given them a guest, likely no one of the people that are coming would take someone random.

I have 55 gold Cards and Pockets pockets for a pocket type invite available. They retail for 80 cents each so you can buy more on the website if needed. I got my stack ( with shipping) for 55$. I made informational inserts and tied ribbon/starfish around them. Selling them for 45$ ( this includes shipping in US)

I spent about 5$ total on it. I had someone create the invite and inserts, bought the pocket , bought card stock ( actually saved a lot printing ourselves) , ribbon , envelope liner, starfish charm. Lots of effort but end result is too cute! ( I guess I didn't factor in cost of the punches but hope to resell them )

aww don't let that friend ruin your perception of the wedding. I am sure people had a great time. I am slightly worried about spending time with everyone, but in the end I will try to keep people updated on where I am going to be sitting, lying, eating etc and people can come hang out if they wish. It would be too hard and stressful to try to keep picking between groups. In the end, they should make their own fun at a beautiful resort with their own friends/family. At my friends destination wedding I kind of felt disappointed I didn't see her enough (I only get to see her like 1-2x per year bc of distance), because no one was staying at the same resort, most people were only there for a long weekend, they had tons of wedding planning to do last minute, and she had like 100 guests- but I didn't hold it against her- she did the best she could! I use that example to try to make sure I have most things taken care of the day before everyone gets there and don't stress too much on making things perfect. You just have to imagine what most people go through at their 1 night wedding- there is no way I would be able to spend any time with the 200+people that usually go to those things.
