To Ask Bridesmaids Before Or After Rsvp
nadiakat17 replied to peachykeen159's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are still undecided if we want to have more than just our siblings (who obviously are coming)- the only other person I asked was my best friend bc I knew she was definitely coming. I was waiting to decide who for sure was coming before asking more (for example, one of my good friends doesn't know if her husband will still have his job in a few months so not sure if they will have funds for the trip). I actually had one friend that I had considered asking tell me there is no way she will be able to make it a few months after I announced where we were getting married- so I struggle a bit that maybe if I had asked her before, she would have made more of an effort to come? But then I wouldn't want to rope people into coming. I think in the end it might just be easier to have the people I listed above (best friend and siblings) so we don't feel pressured to figure out bridesmaid dresses and things like that more last minute when people actually have to RSVP -
Tradition = Boutonniere And Corsages
nadiakat17 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
thanks for the tips guys! -
Hi, I was wondering what people traditionally do with boutonnieres and corsages- more specifically, I want my groom to have a boutonniere on his suit coat, but I think the two groomsmen will just wear shirts and maybe ties- would they need a boutonniere too? Also do fathers of the bride/groom get one? How about moms and corsages- is that done a lot? if so, wrist or pinned? Thanks!

That's a good idea- to maybe not do it at the wedding but at the welcome party or prior to rehearsal dinner or something. I will ask my WC- thx!

Has anyone thought about doing this for their wedding? Or would that be too hokey? If so, did you bring yours from the states or did you buy it there? Did guests enjoy it?

Has anyone found a company to do this- I'm thinking some kind of end of the night taco bar.

Process Of Getting Legally Married
nadiakat17 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Ah good point, I guess I don't really like the idea of lying, and not sure if my friend would either. Maybe we will just do what @@Vika did a few days before we leave -
Does anyone have any links to a wedding invitation template that would fit into a cardsandpockets pocket that isn't a passport style? I have cute ideas for the outside invite, paper backings, etc, but cannot find anything cutesy and creative that would serve as the actual template- I tried using the cardsandpockets templates but they are very basic. I was thinking of something romantic beach themed with coral and/or starfish. I don't know the first thing about trying to design my own template

Are any of you guys doing a candy bar? I want to, but I don't know about lugging those glass apothecary jars with me to Mexico and I can't seem to find plastic ones. If you did one, where did you get the cheapest bulk candy from? I can't decide if I want to do a color theme or not (looks nice, but wondering if the candies aren't as tasty as if you just picked by favorite candies). I also can't decide if I would wait until Mexico (I'm in PV, they have costco and walmart) to buy candy to save on travel space but I have no idea what their selection is (not sure I would just want traditional mexican candies) how many pounds do you think it would take?- I expect maybe around 40-50 guests Any thoughts?

@tygrrlily- thanks! I totally agree with you- resort prices crazy and I really want peonies- please let me know how they are when you get them, but I'll probably order before then if I decide to do this!

Process Of Getting Legally Married
nadiakat17 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Haha lilian84- haha I need to fact check my FI! I know that there are laws in different states ( I can either get married in IL or IN- from what my FI is telling me IN laws are very lax) and that you probably are required to sign it in the state you marry in- but yes as kmk2016 is saying, I was wondering if I could sign it somewhere else- how would the govt know if I ended up mailing it from IN when I got back? And if it turns out I can't somehow do this- can I pick up the documents at the courthouse and just bring them to my friend to sign so we are bypassing any kind of ceremony? Thanks for your help! -
I assigned my FI the task of looking up how to get legally married. We know for sure we don't want to go through the whole thing in Mexico with the certain officiant, blood tests, etc. My FI does not want to cheapen the ceremony by doing anything with vows etc beforehand in the US. He wants to do the bare minimum to legalize things. My friend (who did that thing online where you are "ordained" /allowed to marry people in the US) is going to officiate our ceremony in MX, My FI was wondering if we could just take the document to Mexico, and have her sign it down there and technically that is a legal marriage- we would just have to mail the paperwork when we get back. I am assuming that even if we did this in the US, we could just pick up the paperwork at a courthouse and have her sign it at home and mail it- no need to have a little ceremony thing in front of a judge. Why hasn't anyone else done it this way? Bc don't people who get married during a US ceremony sign the paperwork and have to mail it as well? Am I missing something? Thoughts?

Has anyone ordered from here? I saw good reviews, just wanted to verify this. Can they do centerpieces and cake toppers too? How much did your wedding package come and how much did you spend? My mom is very wary of me buying fake flowers- she says we are in a tropical area- they should be real! But the prices I've seen for real flowers are ridiculous. I looked at afloral.com to make my own bouquet but it had horrible reviews.

I saw this while scrolling back in the forum- make your own crossword puzzle for the bag! If you google it, there are tons of free sites to build a crossword puzzle and it is so easy- just type in the word, then the clues, and the site builds it for you. All the words related to myself and my FI- for instance, the name of the street where I grew up or what is my FI's favorite soccer team. I might give a prize to the first person to finish it. I think guests will love it!

Do you plan on trying to plan ahead, just talk to them when you get there, or just go the day before and hope for the best? -

Bringing Tumblers On Plane
nadiakat17 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
all good ideas, thanks ladies! -
Hi, I really wanted to bring tumblers for everyone, but how did you manage checking them on a plane? I expect we will have more stuff, like centerpieces, etc, and wondering if they themselves would take up a whole suitcase. So far we expect to have between 40-50 people. Did your guests use them by the pool, or would I be lugging them for no reason?
