  1. yeah I am kind of bummed to check a whole suitcase for tumblers!
  2. The end of March- they told me sun sets at 7:14 pm, so I was hoping to get pics during sunset. I am allowed to go as late as 2 am, but I figured starting dinner at 8 pm may be too late, and dont really feel like paying for an extra hour. I am just not sure what we are going to do if my friends want to stay out past 1 am. We have giant suites, I guess as long as everyone isnt too drunk we could hang out in a room (there are probably only like 20 friends coming max between us)
  3. Hi, I was wondering what time people were doing ceremony, cocktail party, reception, and then after party( if any?) ? I have 6 hours of reception time, so was thinking of doing the ceremony at 5 pm (about 30 mins), then maybe a cocktail hr for guests, then start reception/dinner at 7 pm until 1 am. worried that it might get late for the older people. Our resort doesn't have a club, and at this point probably no sense hopping into a cab into town (like 30 mins away) to go to a club, so I am not sure what we will do after...ideas? what does everyone think?
  4. @@NickiLynn1116 I would return them..I am sure they are awesome, but for sipping drinks by the pool i think most people would want more of a tumbler with a straw....I think a sports bottle top would just be awkward and hard to get drinks in.
  5. I am doing a garter- only because I wanted to surprise my fiance with one made of his favorite "footy" team - it has a little charm and everything. I got my from theweddinggarter.com - professional, fast, and awesome! I feel like I cant really surprise him much because we arent doing a grooms cake My friend also gave me a garter from Agent Provacateur (fancy lingerie store)- i feel bad not wearing it but i had in mind to design one but there is no way that he is going to be crawling up my dress in front of my dad to get it...
  6. my MIL just got me a bathing suit from etsy that says Bride on the bottoms with rhinestones. Maybe something they could read on the beach, some nice bath products/makeup for your daughter, the Art of Shaving makes amazing travel sized shaving gear for your son in law.
  7. I wish my place had a better set up with picking out these things, I'm with you @@tygrrlily, my WC barely answers my questions...I feel fairly frustrated, I am worried I will get to my wedding day and it will be a disaster
  8. if asked directly, what are you guys planning to say? I don't plan on going out of my way to tell anyone other than immediate family/very close friends, but I don't know what I will say if someone asks me while we are there....
  9. @@JamaicaNicole I agree with you. I understand that there needs to be a fee to set up things but I just feel like my resort is putting insane fees on everything. I would be OK with something reasonable, but like you said, 380$ for an outside photog to come in when you are already paying so much is crazy!
  10. i thought about getting married after but I personally don't like the idea, because after the symbolic ceremony in Mexico I want to really feel like husband and wife, like everything is settled now. I don't like the idea of waking up the morning after the wedding and thinking well technically we aren't really married yet- I would feel disappointed. This is why I decided to go to the courthouse before I leave
  11. yes I am aware of what it is, my question was more about how to go about it being refunded and also if these wedding related things would qualify
  12. I signed my contract already. I didn't really have much choice bc my parents have a timeshare that we are using to have the wedding, so I guess I could have went elsewhere but wanted to have my wedding at the resort we were staying . At the time, I didn't think there would be much variation between different resorts and prices, but maybe now I am realizing there might be. I will have to see what the total cost ends up being and how that compares.
  13. I know I am in the minority, but I am doing a registry. I am possibly going to have a wedding shower (my MIL or my moms friend wants to do it). I also was going to have a AHR where I don't feel like gifts should be given as it is not my wedding, but who knows what people will do. And not that I expect this either, but more likely than not there will be at least one person invited and not attending who will want to send a gift. I would rather get things we want/need than have people struggle over what to get us I at first was really reluctant to agree to a shower, but now want one, as I feel like it is a time to get pumped and celebrate the upcoming wedding. This will *hopefully* be the only time I will ever get married, and I would like to have the full experience, including having fun registering with my FI.
  14. @@calgarybride2015, are you going to go to a MAC in Mexico, or do it Canada and try to replicate?
  15. Does anyone have experience/know about VAT tax refund, specifically in Mexico? I am getting charged VAT tax for basically everything about my wedding- venue, food, entertainment, etc Anyone know if this will be able to be refunded? Thanks
  16. I went to sephora yesterday and they said you can make a 45 min makeup appt where they will show you things to do, you just have to commit to buy 50$ worth of product (not hard to do). I was thinking of going and bringing my MOH . For my hair, I was just going to have my MOH do a trial with me - all i want is my hair down with curls/waves. If I wanted an updo, I would probably have a pro do it
  17. Yeah I need to hash this out with my WC more....I just feel if i am literally asking them to place a lantern and candle on each of 5 tables (that my MOH could do if she could) there shouldn't be like a 200$ charge, which I could see my resort doing, but then again I have to ask the exact charges and i really hope they wouldn't charge me to bring my own real touch flowers for bouquets
  18. true, what is your cost for setting up the centerpieces, etc? I guess i am just at my breaking point because I feel like my resort's charges are high and everywhere I turn there is another cost. I just don't want to be charged for everything little thing. I don't know the cost yet, but not sure what would be fair.
  19. I thought of a lantern, a couple fake flowers, and a few candles around this- all i would bring from home, but my WC said that they were going to charge a few just to bring my own stuff ! (not sure what the cost is yet, but that is crazy)
  20. Im so frustrated with the cost of renting the stereo system, bringing my own centerpieces, etc
  21. I'm really stressed out, I just got an email from my WC trying to answer all my questions- I just feel like we are being nickel and dimed on everything and that they are charging huge fees. We are trying to do a lot of things to save money, but with the bare minimum (which I feel is already overpriced) it is already a lot. They want to charge me for bringing my own centerpieces, candy bar, etc - who knows if they charge for things like putting decorations on chairs, etc. Has anyone had any luck trying to negotiate these charges and bringing the cost back down and if so, how did you go about it? Thanks, it just sucks that I feel like they trying to suck me dry. Thanks
  22. @tygrrlily- cute photos! question, why was weddingchicks having a sale when you got your bags? I want to get bags and hoping there will be a similar sale soon!
  23. I am debating this. My resort's prices are so expensive, and who knows how it will look. I was thinking about just having my friends help me (they are decently good at it, better than me of course) and maybe going to buy some better makeup and having someone do it for me at the store and give me pointers. Thoughts?
