  2. I am doing mine until 11, even though it will cost more, I think people won't want things to end within 3 hours so it's a good idea to have the option of the wedding going until 11pm and if people are still not tired then head over to the hacienda area and the club
  3. I keep receiving emails sporadically from the Tropic One Studio and photographers there, all saying different things with different conditions. It is so frustrating considering I am leaving in less than 20 days with everything and everyone booked. The first time they replied (after many emails and attempts) saying there is no fee if they photographer stays minimum of 5 days!! (this is what we went with and booked our photographer) Then they emailed my fiance about 3 months ago saying something completely different and now again TODAY saying the minimum stay is 7 nights and there is a fee of $1000. This is just wrong. I will continue going with the first email they sent me, I don't know what is true at this point.
  4. I wish I had been told this by my WC earlier, I had asked about it and never heard back regarding it so I thought it wasn't possible. We ended up getting a complete reception set up by the pool which is more costly, especially since we have 90+ people
  5. I am going with resort salon hair and make up and hoping for the best I asked the WC and she said its not the same price. it's age dependent
  6. Thanks! and for the private dinner, it comes with 3 hours of open bar? I assume it's extra for the last 2 hours (ends at 11?) What happens if not everyone in our party drinks? do they still charge per person?
  7. We are in the process of putting our music together. Anyone know how long of a dinner I should plan for? We got the BBQ Buffet by the pool for dinner/reception. Do they start packing up the dinner at a certain time? I want to see how to best organize my music timing/speeches/dances. thanks
  8. I just listed a few of the possible options they have, the most popular ones, I didn't get into details. Most of my family/friend have been to Riviera Maya and they can all figure out what they want to do the first day they are there. Everyone has an idea of the type of vacation they want so they can figure it out. I am trying to organize a Tulum beach trip for anyone of our guests who is interested.
  9. I went to dollarama and I was successful in finding good $2 tumblers, they look good too. But now I am considering how to carry 50 of them. It will require a lot of help with family members I guess?
  10. I had originally sent out a brochure with some resort information with our invites. With about a month to go, I just sent an initial email this week (since all of our guests are confirmed now). In the email I put the week's timelines and what they can expect (tulum excursion, halloween, wedding day info) and I reminded them about travel insurance and taking dukoral. I included dress code for wedding and other basic information. Since I'm the travel agent myself, I will be sending out another email with tickets/travel documents and other necessary travel information approximately two weeks before we leave.
  11. We haven't done engagement pictures, eventually I hope to get to them but it doesn't have to be immediate I guess. It can be anytime we are ready to head outside with either a tripod or a friend shooting us
  12. hmm I was wondering how to split the time in our dinner/reception time too.. our ceremony is at 2, so "cocktail hour" is 3-6 (haha!) 6pm is dinner, so was thinking of doing first dance right away, but this can also happen during the time the guests are finishing up their dinner, so that shortly after they can all join. mother/father dances can be at this time too. we have a buffet, I guess I need to talk to the resort to see what time they are serving the food. We didn't get a dj which I guess makes things more difficult but will have to figure something out!
  13. Thanks! yeah I will ask them, it would be nice to save somehow. I hate myself for continuously looking for ideas and better stuff... I get over excited and want to do so much more than I have the budget for. definitely need to take it easy and compromise as you said hehe!
  14. The costs definitely do add up quick. We ended up choosing the private dinner which is $60 a person so for the 90 people we have it becomes more than we had originally thought. Flowers we are going to order are going to cost us somewhere between $1000-1500 (centerpieces, aisle and gazebo decorations). We ordered our own napkins just to give the tables some colour other than white, which wasn't much. Then little things like hair and make up and of course photographer we are flying down. Then there is the actual wedding package cost (approx. $1500) The conversion is definitely an issue. Is there any way to negotiate the prices with them once down there?
  15. I'm so lost as to what else to put in our bags. We have 50 bags total and so far we have: - sunglasses (for each person) - personalized hand sanitizer - Sudoku puzzle book - Playing cards - Starfish candles as favours - bag of candy - pack of gum - Fan I still think we need something more substantial or a bigger item, I was thinking beach wraps for women but don't know what for men. Also it's so hard to find a good price for beach wraps considering I would need 45 of them. Any ideas what could make my bag better?
  16. I am bringing cloth napkins (to give tables colour), we are ordering flowers as our centerpieces and then bought small coloured stones to go around the vase, not sure if I should add candles as well or not. Also taking table numbers and their place holders (is this something resorts usually provide? I hadn't even asked) Then guestbooks, some sort of frame/poster for the seating chart. Still haven't decided if I should take any other decorations...
  17. We thought we were going to have 20-30 people max, and now with less than 40 days to go, people are still booking and we are at 92 people... I don't want this to get any bigger at this point
  18. I feel like I have so much to do still!!!! 36 days before we leave. Need to finish music preparation, get dress, pick up small things such as cake topper, guestbook... and tons more!!!
  19. Does anyone know if we're allowed to use outsider vendors for ordering flowers? I'm wondering if this can be a way we save up a little if I find better prices else where in Riviera Maya
  20. so the spa replied and I had to send out a form to book appointments for whoever wanted one in my party. slowly but surely things are coming together. now onto the flowers, they are defiinitely more pricey than what was posted in here a while back. Because we have 90-100 guests, I dont want chair corsages for each chair (will add up to too much) but I would like some flowers along the aisle or something hanging on the chairs just along the aisle. Do they do this? Should I send them pictures?
  21. what's the best way to contact them? I emailed them about 2 months ago... now I only have just over 40 days left!!! also my ceremony is at 2pm, so whats a good time for me to make an appointment for?
  22. Yeah I'd like to know too, I send them an email to get pricing and an appointment but there was no response. I think I will do my own make up but would really like it if they did my hair and I'm sure some of my other guests would want appointments as well. Should I do arrange this before I get there or will I have time once there?
