Customs in Mexico - declaring wedding stuff
Ellia123 replied to PDCwedding's topic in Honeymoon Forum
We had 7 luggages and they opened every single one but never asked for receipts or anything. I just explained what everything was even though the guy probably didn't speak english and understand what I said. I brought back my bouquet from mexico too which you're supposed to claim. -
Linda was super nice! really liked her. I had Maria all along but they all helped out at some point. I don't think they have the iphone 5 connector to charge (if necessary), you should definitely ask. I brought back everything I had taken. The lady Marivel who did my hair was excellent, I showed her a picture for 3 seconds and she knew exactly what she was doing.

Hi, I have 96 Royal Blue napkins for $40 if anyone is interested. I can also separate them into 45 and 50 if necessary. I also have 8 silver starfish place card/table number holders. Message me if interested. Thanks

Yeah we were glad this wasn't the case for us. You can use the coba side of the beach and Tulum I guess. not sure how they can control the beach area considering it's all one long strip! But the food and everything was much better at Akumal. We had a symbolic wedding. I had brought chair sashes, wedding programs for ceremony and then chair sashes, cloth napkins, candles and candle holders, table numbers and holders, guestbook, seating chart, sweetheart table decorations. I had ordered flower centerpieces which were very pretty! The wedding timeline sheet was provided at no charge. We cancelled the resort photographer and flew down our own. No hidden charges. I had made sure to ask for a proper break down of costs. Once we got there though Maria said that we would need extra speaker (due to the amount of people we had) which was extra but that was about it. Oh also the flowers were beautiful!!! I will post pictures tomorrow.

Thanks everyone! My coordinator was Maria, she was great! They are all so helpful and organize everything so well once there. We stayed at Coba but we had access to the rest of the resorts until the last day, now Akumal has become a luxury resort so not every guest can access/use the accomodations. Our guests were happy this happened at the end of our stay as Akumal has a lot of good things about it (pools, snack bars, buffet, beach, etc) The trip started out rough as we had a few guests with issues in their rooms including our own but they were looked after and everything was fine the day after and everyone had a great time and forgot about their first day. On arrival we had sparkling wine on ice (although the air conditioner wasn't working and ice had melted, we complained and got another bottle) and flowers in our room which was nice. On the Monday we met with Maria and we went over everything in detail and I brought her all my own decorations (2 luggages) and we negotiated everything we wanted. I gave her a list and drawing of any set up that was necessary. They also set up our bachelorette dinner and transportation for it with 20 girls. They gave my copies of the timeline of the wedding day for all the guests. I got my hair and makeup done at the Spa. The hair trial went perfectly and the lady who did it knew exactly what she was doing. I was very happy with it. Make up was also good. On the day of the wedding, at 12pm Maria called me to confirm whether we wanted the wedding outside or not based on the weather and of course we said outside since it was a beautiful day. They dropped off my bouquet at 1pm as promised. They were going to pick up the guests up at 1:30 from the lobby to take to gazebo, picked groom up at 1:30 from his room and picked me up at 1:50 from my room. Everything went smoothly - better than I had imagined!! At 5:40 the guest were picked up again at lobby for reception at the Tulum main pool, it was hard to gather all the guests for them at that point so we started 30 minutes late but it wasn't a concern. we waited around until they notified us that everyone had been seated. Our timeline for the dinner/reception went perfectly as well. They gave us everything we needed and had asked for. We had the BBQ buffet which people said was the best food they had the entire week. The service provided by the staff was excellent!!!! They had the tables and buffet set up super nice. We even had ice sculptures which we didn't know we would. people loved them. We had taken our own music on an iPhone, I had set up playlists on a dj app which worked out great. We had put my sister in charge of taking care of it in case something went wrong, also we had someone MC the wedding just to announce our enterance, dinner and such and he was awesome. After the wedding we had our own private beach party in the dark hehe. That night we returned to a nice clean room with chocolate covered strawberries, sparkling wine on ice, rose petals everywhere. The next morning we had breakfast brought to our room which was great!! I will have pictures in the next few days so I can show you guys what our set up looked like. We had 90 people so there was a lot of chairs/decorations to set up, I saw them working from morning until midnight. Everything I wanted done and they did it perfectly!!!! I had such anxiety thinking timing or organization would be off and that was not the case. Let me know what else you'd want to know.

No Maids, No Groomsmen?
Ellia123 replied to Mangosong's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
All my close friends are coming to our wedding but I didn't pick any bridesmaids, just my sister who I bought the dress for. Other than that I told the girls who were closest to help out with things here and there. they all seem to be okay with it. -
We are doing symbolic wedding and officially getting married and registering here after.
