  1. oh ok I understand. my only issue with that is that I feel as though a lot of people are going to question me on the resort we picked, the pricing.. eta and I just don't want to have to deal with all of that. I may look into doing the website though - I still have not chosen on the invitations yet
  2. @@kmk2016 oh I see. that is lovely! I just thought everyone would contact my travel agent for all of that information. I guess a website is smart idea. I was just going to field questions through my wedding email
  3. Well I was thinking about sending out rsvp's later because the deposits are due by November 16th and I can't pick the menu's and such all already. I am simply sending out an initiation now so that guests know to put in their deposits to my TA by November 16th. I wanted people to have ample time to save up for the trip. I was going to use all of the deposits and information that my guests give the travel agent for my seating plan. I am also going to be sending out large packets of information about 3 months before departure. that is probably when I would put the food information in there and have everyone email my wedding email for that type of detail. I did not make a wedding website - I don't see the point in one.
  4. How do you do it if they are rsvp-ing to your TA and not you at all? Do you tell the TA how many people are invite and who so they can cross off their list? I mean when I sent out the invites to the families - the whole family is invited. it is more so about the singles who think they can bring a plus one - if that actually happens I am not sure.
  5. @@Lia33 that is what I hear! Can anyone tell me what they wrote on their invitation to let their guests know when the deposits and such were due? I am not sure what to write without sounding.. rude I guess?
  6. ahh! if they had snakes or tarantulas I would die. those 2 things are my biggest fears. Please don't be any where near my room..
  7. Thank you! I think so too!!! Now I hope the hardest part is done lol!
  8. ok - We choose a resort.... Azul Fives! I am just waiting on the confirmation for the date change because originally I had chosen January 15th, 2016 but then we decided to go a week earlier so now I requested the date change for January 8th, 2016. I am so excited!!!
  9. I am using a lady from Algonquin Travel Plus here in Winnipeg and I absolutely loved her! She is so experienced
  10. Whoops in my last post I meant that I hadn't seen one post that the wedding WASNT beautiful not was ha
  11. My TA did quote me for all age groups. The 2 year olds they charge you only air fare, the 3-12's were like 70 percent less than the adults and the over 13 year were about 90 percent or so. I thought the kids would be cheaper under 12. Mind you - this is just a cost - the prices could differ once I confirm that contract and the deposits come in. I cannot seem them differing that much. With the jade - the kids under 12 only paid for air fare.
  12. I have read A LOT of reviews on the Azul Fives because I am almost positive that is where I was going to pick. Wedding reviews that is. There is not one person who said it was beautiful/spectacular/ etc. I just cannot picture getting married on the beach. The Dream adventura pictures that are up there on the last post - that gazebo thing was BEAUTIFUL! I could definitely picture getting married there. I know once I make the decision I will be happy with whatever we go with - I just don't want to make the wrong decision. I know that the Now Jade and Dreams both has disco's - which is fab. The Azul only has a bar that is open til 2 but people say it is not for dancing. I could also get the guests that want to go to Playa. although I am unsure as to how safe that is or who would want to. the prices for the package and the coordinators for Azul seem so top notch. but like I said - I have done most of my reviews on the Azul brides. The other thing about Azul is that you can only fly there from WPG with Transat air - not air Canada, sunwing or west jet so that limits the days you can go. I think the main reason that is stopping me from just picking Azul is the cost for children. With Dreams and Jade - they only charge kids under 12 the air fare. Azul charges almost the same price as an adult which I think is so ridiculous! MY sister has 4 children - the oldest being 15 and the youngest as 4. Her 4 year old hardly eats and obviously cannot drink. Where is the rest of that coin going to?
  13. Hi there! I am having the hardest time deciding on a resort. I was almost ready to say yes to Azul Fives and then I went to my travel agent and she told me to check out these other 2 resorts just to be sure. I have been doing research on all 3 - Azul Fives, Dreams Adventura and the Now Jade. They are all pretty comparable in prices but they each seem to offer a variety of things that the other does not. I love the idea of the sky wedding..that is my main reason for the Azul Fives being at the top of the list. I want something that isn't too crazy busy, I want to be able to find my guests and they find each other, I want it to be laid back but also have things for people to do. I will have around 10 children from the age of 1 to 17 so there must be things for them to do. I want to be able to party until 2 am on the night of the wedding. I also don't want to be going to the beach or the pool at 7 in the morning in order to be able to get a seat. Help!! I am torn..
  14. Thank you - @@TinkerSofi - You have been a great help. I originally said that the 11pm music off thing was a deal breaker for me. It seems like inside you are able to have your music til 12pm which is late enough for me. Then whoever wants to come - we can go to the bar. We can decide that when we get there. I am going to meet with my TA about prices/discounts/incentives and go from there. She did inform me that if the price drops anytime before the 60 days before and as long as they have the flights and rooms available, we will get that discount.
  15. Has anyone ever bought a suit from EPH Apparel? I am not sure if they are all over but we have one in Winnipeg
  16. the earlier the better!! I am the same way.. I feel like I have more time to choose what I actually want!
  17. Ya with Azul Fives - you can only purchase packages with Transat. Air Canada, Sunwing and West Jet do not have a contract with that resort. Only the Azul Beach Resort. At least from Winnipeg anyways.. perhaps other provinces work
  18. Sorry I should have been more clear. I did receive a quote from my TA but I have not accepted it yet. When I look online via Transat her pricing for a group of 60 was the exact same cost that I had found online. I just expected the quote to be cheaper or 60 plus people. She has not told me about incentives yet - I am assuming she will tell me once I accept the contract and such. I asked her if there were a high or low season and she told me that once we accepted the resort - then we would decide on the day and which would be cheaper. But I have a hard time a accepting it if I do not know all of the costs.
  19. My fiancé's sister got married in Antigua in 2011 and she got $200 off each package based on the amount of people they had. I have heard that from a lot of people. Does that not exist? I am trying to look into April as well for a date but it looks like Transat (which is the only company that flies from WPG to Cancun) only flies there from December to April 1st - so my options are limited. I also want to stay away from Spring Break and reading week. @@kmk2016 - Did you get a better price that you got when looking online? Are you flying with Transat? @@Lilgabri03 - Do you mind if I ask how many guests you will be having?
  20. I am a newbie to this too.. just joined yesterday after reading all of the amazing information brides give to brides. I got engaged about a month ago.. I am from Manitoba and we are really interested in doing a destination wedding. I knew that this is what I had wanted to do for a long time. I am having a hard time picking a resort and actually making a final decision on it. I had my heart set on Curacao but the nicer resorts are too pricey and I don't like the idea of making all of my guests over night in Toronto since there are no direct flights. I always said that I wasn't going to do Mexico but after looking at how amazing some of the resorts are and the price you get, I couldn't resist. I am set on the Azul Fives in Mexico - I just can't make the final decision yet. We are looking at doing early 2016 so that my guests have a lot of time to save. I already have a travel agent who I love. My only concern is I don't feel as though I am getting the group rates. Is anyone else having that problem? Will I only get those rates after I have everyone's deposit in?
  21. Hi there, I am looking to get married at the Azul Fives in early 2016 (early.. I know) but I want all of my family and friends who want to come to be able to afford it. I really had my heart set on the Azul Beach hotel but it is just too expensive for me. I wasn't willing to go to up to $2000 a week for all inclusive for my guests. Did anyone have trouble picking a place? I just don't want to be asking people to spend their life savings. It is a year and a half away, I would hope that people who really wanted to come would be able to save that much by then. Did you have trouble getting a group rate? Everywhere I look I am getting the same price - from my travel agent as well. I thought that we would at least get $100 off a package or so. Is anyone having second thoughts on this place? How is it to coordinate with the resort? I really want to be able to stay up late and party but it doesn't look like that will be a possibility passed 12. Is that correct? Is it safe to go to Playa to the bars?
