When we first started we had 3 resorts in mind. Two of them wouldn't give us pricing until November 2014 and the one we choose gave us pricing right away. Then my travel agent pushed the 2 other and their prices ended up being quite high compared to the fare for 2015 (we are getting married 2016). They are anticipating a sky rocket in prices for 2015/16. At least that is what my travel agent said. But my travel agent responded within minutes almost any time of the day/week.

Yes - we are. Most likely a summer one or Halloween. I probably won't have all of the silent auction prices and such. It will be a party for the people who aren't coming to the wedding to celebrate with us.

I have not decided yet but I think I would rather get married legally here and then symbolic in mexico. it seems as though my FI is up for that though so we will see! it seems like extra costs

yah once you think of it like that - it is not worth giving it to people. I am not sure if I will get anything like that from our resort or not. The costs of the resort can change quite dramatically from resort to resort. just choose your budget and go from there

Did anyone have trouble with family members wanting to book after your deadline? I have 3 cousins who just emailed me saying that the deposit isn't in the budget for this year and they will be paying next year. help!

We just sent our invites out for the deposits so I only have 6 people booked at the moment. They have until November 16th to put the deposits down so I basically gave my guests 2.5 months or so. I haven't received any perks yet but my agent just request a couple upgrades. I assume they start to make arrangements once everyone has put in their deposit. I loved November too but my FI and I are both competitive curlers and October, November, December are out busiest months so we couldn't do that.

Lol yeah - I wanted to make sure that my guests had a lot of time to plan and be able to afford to go. Holidays can get tricky! Well they have their schedules for the days that they go but not the times yet. Our package ranges from $1900 to $3000 a person depending on the type of room that they get. Azul Fives has quite a bit of room availabilities. We leave on January 4th and come back on January 11th - at least the people who are staying for 7 days. We will be staying for 2 weeks. I used Algonquin Travel Plus. Her name is Isabel Machado and I absolutely love her. She was awesome! You should find a travel agent first, meet with them, tell them what you are looking for and they will give you options. Then you can get prices for what resort and area you are looking at. Once we picked the resort and we got the prices on which months were cheaper then we picked the day. Do you have an idea of when you want to get married?

I did mine pretty much the same as everyone else except our invites went out like a week or 2 ago and people have until December 1st to put down their deposit of $200 a person. My FI and I had to put down $200 each to save the 30 seats for 90 days. as soon as we picked the resort and I got confirmation from the resort of the day and time - I made up the invites and sent them out. People have basically 2 months to put down their deposit and remainder is due by October of next year. I have 4 people booked so far. but if i had 2 months..I would probably pay close to the end too lol!

Did any of the brides get the honeymoon upgrade once they arrived? Has anyone had any of their guests book one of the sky suites? My father in law wants to book a 2 bedrooms sky for him and his mother. I am just wondering if there is a capacity limit for that? I am thinking that we all spend quite a lot of time up there as it would be another gathering place.

I plan to purchase the detailed bags off of etsy too! I just love them!

What time are ya'll having your ceremony? I am not doing a first look so I plan to do the pictures in between and have the reception at 7pm?

@@plopes0420 I completely agree. 2 things that you always have to remember.. A - you cannot please everyone and B - it is YOUR day! if you forget those - you are going to have a hell of a time ha. Now that we have put down the deposit I think people are starting to realize ok, they are doing this. I can already feeling the tension releasing!

I have not talked to my fiancé about it yet but I think that I personally am against it for myself. I don't plan on doing hours and hours of pictures and our ceremony is at 3pm. plus that is how I always pictured it.. seeing him at the front of the aisle.

I was trying to decide from vistaprint which wedding invitations that I was going to use when I realized I had seen at least a dozen of these invitations before - from other weddings that we were invited to. I immediately realized that I wanted to do something different. I went onto Etsy to see what the cost of theirs were and how long it would take to get them and the shipping and so on. Then I realized that a lot of the sellers on their sell their digital copies. I choose a design - it was only $20 for the digital copy and you get 4 drafts so you can change what you want it to say 4 times. that also included an event info card and a thank you card to match. There were 6 different cards you could choose from ie save the dates, invitations, thank you cards, info cards, rsvp, bag tags and it was $20 flat for them 3. I just went to get go them ordered at staples on matte paper and the cost to have 80 invitations and 80 event info cards printed out were only $65 dollars. I could not believe it!! I looked on vistra print and I know they were around $1 a print but this was better. Just an fyi for anyone out there looking for something else to do for their invites. you can get them printed anywhere really. This also included envelopes!

Yah well I really wanted the Azul and I understand that this stuff might happen but I am willing to try anything I can to make it work. if it doesn't work out, at least we tried! I am not very worried about the credits.. if I have to lose some to get my sister there on time I will. that is more important to me and I am sure for my father as well. Worst case scenario is that they are there 2 days after everyone else but my FI and I will be there for an extra week (perhaps at a different resort however). I am sure they would be fine with it -I am the one more worried ha. I actually cannot believe how many people are coming from Calgary due to the fact that they live around there. she never gave me a date for Edmonton so I am wondering if Edmonton would be the same (-2 days) or what. we have around 10 coming from there too. @@TinkerSofi I think I will give people plus 1's who are single.. ie aunts/uncles/friends. hopefully they are able to bunk up with someone. did you try and coordinate getting people to bunk together or did they figure it out on their own and contact people?

I told my TA to get me quotes for all options ie different airlines, if they went to Edmonton, etc. 6 of those 25 people are my sister and her children and to only get to see them 5 instead of 7 days makes me sad. hopefully we can figure out a cost effective way to get them there a day sooner.

We just booked our wedding with Transat.. my TA said it is wonderful. The only thing is I have people flying from 3 different provinces and the Calgary people may have to arrive 2 days later if I absolutely cannot get around it. my TA is looking into it though. I have only flown sunwing before and I liked it but it wasn't the best. The seats and leg room were fairly tight and me and my FI are not tall people by any means. I also didn't like that there were only TV's every 3rd row but a lot of people bring ipads now with movies and show anyways.

did you give people the choice of a plus one or include it on your rsvp? Is anyone having issues with people flying from other provinces and arriving 2 days later than everyone else? Most of our guests are coming from WPG but I have about 25 from Calgary, 5 from Vancouver and a couple from Edmonton. My TA told me that the Calgary people will arrive 2 days later than us. I am not sure if I am ok. I asked her if we could have them go out of Edmonton instead or if we can book them with Air Canada or West Jet and then book their hotel separately. The 1 day earlier or later doesn't bother me but 2 days is quite a bit I think

I was actually very surprised that the price was much higher. $400 or so more. my TA got us a great deal for 2016 as well with the Azul so I just could not pass it up. Everything so far has turned out to be exactly what I wanted. We are thinking of going to the Now Jade for the 2nd week though

@@jeffandrobyn yah my pro's and con's were pretty much the same as yours! I received quotes from my TA for both Now's and they ended up being way over my price range - which I did not expect at all. but we are going 2016 and I think they are expecting prices to raise from now to then. if the price had of been good then I probably would have choosen the Now Jade.
