  1. WOW!!! I am shocked that someone would do. BEFORE even talking to you about it! I mean - I know that we all have to remember that this is a vacation for everyone as well. But.. not for people YOU DO NOT KNOW! I would never in a million years do that for someone else's wedding. If I even thought of it - the first thing I would do is contact the bride or groom - whoever you actually know better. My step mom's sister is going by herself and I just received an email that she has invited on of her friends to attend which I have never met. At first I was a tad pissed off but then I phoned my FI and we were like -it's only one other person and she is going alone so this really doesn't affect us much. But if it were GROUPS of people collaborating and going - wow. Watch out people. I think what you said was perfect about then attending the vacation but not the wedding. If his boss wants to pay for all of his employees to go on a vacation - fine. But they don't have to go to the wedding.
  2. I am stuck between 2 Maggie sottero dresses... I will be choosing one of them though! I tried this one on and LOVED IT. But I felt like it was more of a formal wedding dress then what I can picture myself wearing. It is an absolutely beautiful dress though! I have pictures of myself in it if you want to see but I am a size 2 and the sample size was a 16 lol!
  3. Yah we did not have to pay for anyone which was nice. We have 55 people booked and then I have 6 renting a house down there. I don't feel bad for the people either - they didn't book in the 90 days which I thought was a lot of time for $200 a person. We booked... 13 months in advance too. We are getting married the same week so that may be why rooms are limited lol!
  4. Why did some people need to book the rooms out for their guests and some didn't? Is it only if you book directly with the hotel? Or because we booked so early? We have 30 seats saved for 90 days but we had 65 booked. Nobody had a problem getting a seat or their room category. But like I said - we booked over a year in advance so that might be why.
  5. @@ashhtayy I have heard that there are shows. I thought I had read it on here. Your travel agent should be able to help
  6. @@vivitazy it is not free for Canadians. I believe it is free if you book a memorable moments package. @@snswedding2016 Thanks. I bought real touch flowers for the flowers hanging behind the gazebo and for the ceremony aisle runners. I think I am going to go with real flowers for the bouquets and centerpieces. I figure those flowers are the ones that are closer to people's faces lol. @@ashhtayy I heard from a ton of people that the nightlife was awesome. I wonder where she read this? What kind of things does she want to do?
  7. @@snswedding2016 and then she is quoting you after for how much extra it will cost?
  8. what is the difference between emailing lomas and emailing the designers email? What if I want a quote for flowers that are not on there??
  9. @@calgarybride2015 I agree that the singles have to realize that by coming as a single - you pay more. But because I roomed her with Gramma - We sort of guaranteed her the doubles price. So to go back and take that away from her - I think is extremely unfair. @@Wafflesmom yes - the grandpa is coming for sure and he is so excited. I don't want to make him feel like a burden. I am trying to find someone for my aunt to room with. if I can't - I think my fiancé and I and my parents are going to pay the difference for Audrey. I just don't think it is fair to guarantee her a price and then go back and ask to pay more.
  10. How did you get a package like that? Through the resort? I am in Canada - where are you? That may be the difference as well. that is a super price!!!!!! I am budgeting about $15,000 but that is for 61 people.
  11. Hey All.. I just need to vent to someone other than my family!!! My fiancé's grandpa is a terrible flyer so he wasn't going to come to the wedding. His grandma is though. Both of my grandparents are older and hate the hot weather so they are not coming which I am ok with. So I needed to find someone to room with Kody's grandma. Well my uncle passed away last summer and my family and her have gotten extremely close through the 7 years they were together and even more so since they passed so we just invited her and she wanted to come. She is 80 or so years old and so is Kody's grandma so I thought how perfect - they would get along amazingly. Last week, I found out that Kody's Grandpa has decided that he wants to come now. So...now I have to figure out someone for him to stay with or, room my aunt by herself. Either way.. my aunt now has to pay $1000 more. They are all coming for 2 weeks. They all either pay more to room together in a 2 bedroom or just my aunt pays more. What do I do? I feel as though my aunt is getting the short end of the stick. Why should she have to pay $300 more?? Am I overreacting?
  12. Wow... I am so shocked that $8500 is covering basically 2 dinners and pictures and a private party. How many guests are you having??
  13. @@snswedding2016 We are getting married on the Sky Deck but I have yet to choose the reception location. The garden pictures are beautiful but my fiancé would like to have it in the ballroom so I don't know yet...
  14. Hi there! I am getting married January 7th, 2016 at the Azul Fives. Fortunately, we booked our wedding in September, 2014 so we got 2014 pricing. I looked yesterday for our resort and the prices went up about $300. It is because of how crappy the Canadian dollar is doing. Unfortunately, nobody really has any idea if it is going to go down. Our guests paid their deposit by December 1st, 2014 and the prices for a double occupancy for a deluxe room for 7 nights was $1950. Now it is about $2200. You pick your dinner menu and that includes 4 hours of open bar. The menu ranges from 19pp to 45pp so whichever your price point is. I agree with the cocktail hour. I would rather pay the 15pp per hour to have the bar open an extra hour or to then pay for the cocktail hour. I find the cocktail hour pricing quite outrageous. especially when the dinner will be in an hour. That is just my opinion though. Our total budget is $25,000 but that is including the $6500 for our trip so really our wedding is around $15,000 or so. Our gift to our guests is a catamaran and that is included in that price also so $10,000 can definitely work. I was thinking of doing silk flowers for some aspects of the wedding as well such as flowers behind the arch on the sky suite. Flowers that will not be seen up close or felt. I think that will save me money because their flowers are quite expensive. Let me know if you have any questions...
  15. @@calgarybride2015 @@TinkerSofi I emailed Andrea back asking if mine would be pushed to 14pp. I am assuming she will say no but it is worth a shot. I agree though - I have 2 10 years and I know they will drink pop lol! Plus I have 4 recovering alcoholics that won't be drinking either but I understand that you would have to pay for adults. I think we are going to do the ceremony at 3.. cocktails at 5 and then the dinner at 7-11 and then do one hour of the bar until midnight and then go elsewhere.
  16. So I found out that to have the bar open for extra hours is $15pp per hour. Andrea informed me that we have to pay this price for people over the age or 12 because they will drink juice/pop/virgin drinks as well. I see some other people here are saying they were told 9pp.. some were told 14pp. Which one is it actually? I know my wedding isn't until 2016 but I booked it in October....
  17. @@pykx82 @@kimmyd2 Oh I am so glad that you both called Isabel and love her as much as I do! She responds to emails within minutes. She was like that from the beginning and is still like that. I recommend her to everyone! Yes -I did go to the wedding show. I went up to see Isabel and she immediately recognized me and asked about my fiancé. I couldn't ask for a better travel agent. I have heard from a couple of my guests that she doesn't respond right away to them but just think of all of the weddings that she coordinates and each guest from those weddings that she has to work with. I told my guests if they have trouble to tell me, I then email or call her and she responds right away. Her office is only open until 5pm yet she will stay until 8pm if I need her too! Good luck picking your resorts. Just remember.... any place is better than Winnipeg in Jan/Feb!!!
  18. We are getting married January 7th, 2016!! We have 61 people booked so far. I haven't done much other than pick the ceremony venue and get my guests booked. I will go shopping soon in a month for the dress. We are bringing a friend who is a photographer to take pictures so that was easy! We have a lot of time so I figure I won't overload myself with everything at once.
  19. I have been told to open up a US bank account and put money in there soon as the dollar is only going to get worse. I guess I would need a US visa as well. Even just paying the little amount that I have so far I have paid over $200 more. Oh... you crappy Canadian dollar!
  20. I emailed Karisma and they told me that we could arrive on Monday and get married on Thursday and still have a legal - we haven't decided what we are doing yet though
  21. thanks but he is really just a friend that is coming with a camera.
  22. Thanks all. I will need to speak with him.. he only does photographer on the side but he is does a fabulous job. Our families have used him for anniversaries and get togethers.
  23. Is there anyone bringing their own photographer for your wedding? We have a friend who we are thinking about asking to come but we are wondering what we should pay him? Obviously we would pay for his trip but how much extra would you recommend paying him? He has a girlfriend that we were going to invite as well. Do you give him money for her too? Do you bring them for the whole week or a shorter trip? He is a friend of the family so it is not like he wouldn't know anybody. We have to make a decision for this soon since our deposits are due right away. Any insight would help!
