  1. I will be having the make up artist at the resort do my makeup. I'm paying for a trial before the day and my back up plan is my mother (she does awesome natural looks). Not completely sure how I want my make up just yet :/
  2. Great article. We have decided to have our honeymoon in the same location but different area of Jamaica. We love Jamaica and that is why we have chosen to get married there.
  3. I don't take negative comments or reviews to heavily. Everyone has their own preferences on what they like. I know personally traveling out of the states can be different because of the various cultures and practices. I think to ease your mind understand that you can not predict what is going to happen or how ppl will react. I'm sure you chose a beautiful resort and not everything will be perfect.
  4. First and foremost thank you for all the insight. Our wedding is in October 2014 at the suites. So far I have contacted the resort with some questions I had. Thursday- We are hoping to have dinner with our family and attendants. Friday- Hoping to do breakfast with the BMs before preparing for the day. Ceremony: 5pm at the lobby selection overlooking the beach. Cocktail hr: 6-7pm (we did not include the open bar because we felt this was ridiculous because we are at an all inclusive resort). Reception: we are hoping on a private reception (waiting on final guest bookings). We inquired about the private reception with 40 ppl or less and it is costly. If we get the 40 guest we will have the reception from 7-11pm. DJ- added from list provides by resort. Photographer: still debating (we really like sungold photography but they are not available) Videography: none yet may be a family member We are kind of going with the flow. My biggest concern is not having a private reception (because I want the wedding to have a traditional feel). We did not add activities because most of our guest are coming on various different days and we wanted everyone to do their own thing and spend the wedding day with us.
  5. I bought a strapless bathing suit to wear when out in the sun. I tan quickly so changing suits all summer will not work.
  6. I love the help tips for traveling. We added just a simple introduction that included the formal " because your love and friendship has helped make us who we are we would like to invite you ...." Instead of boarding passes we did passports and our RSVP cards were boarding passes.
  7. I had ours made by a family member. Due to the type of paper used and extensive creative work they were costly (we had 60 made). We loved them and are so glad we had them personalized plus everyone enjoyed receiving a passport
  8. We have completed lots of research throughout the years (approx. 4 in total) and chose the best bang for our buck that we truly would enjoy. We then made a realistic budget on what everything would cost and of course have had to cut things out of the wedding (but nothing we found necessary). All together including our daughters stay our budget is $14,000.00. But so far we are well below this lol
  9. -acw271011 hi.. I actually booked with my TA four years ago before I knew anything about our wedding other than we wanted a DW. I don't regret not looking around but I do wish I was more knowledgable on sites like this one. Sabes44 hi, on average for 4-5 days my guest paid $950 per person. When you include flights most averaged at $1300. All depends on length of stay and flights. But one thing I had to emphasize to my guest was that the resort is all inclusive (most have not travelled). Once I explained that most did not have an issue with the resort prices (but an FYI I live in NJ and rooms in Atlantic City run for up to $350 a night and you still have to buy food and drinks). I chose to not do the block because ppl are too indecisive and I rather spend my money elsewhere lol
  10. Hi I can completely relate. I have very high anxiety about most life decisions. My FI and I have spent 7 long years together and most of them I have had cold feet about. It's difficult because we've had more bad times then good moments due to family and personal issues. Sometimes I think to myself what if we did not get married and just lived life as is. I'm super nervous about everyone staring at me on the big day. But what gets me the most is that everyone tells me "everything will work out and be great" but I don't think they understand. I know all will go well but the anxiety dosent go away. I truly wished my FI and I had decided to elope because life's pressures are too much most times.
  11. I think as long as we are able to get done all the traditional things (like dances, toast and dinner) everyone will most likely be exhausted by the end of the festivities. Plus most of my guest will be partying all wk at the resort.
  12. I am using them as well. I paid $50 as well (which goes toward the final balance). I did not do the room block because it does not give guest enough time to decide and I had to put a deposit. My TA name is Joanne and she is fabulous
  13. I am doing my wedding jewelry as my something new, I have " i do" blue stickers for the bottom of my shoes, my something old is a rosary my grandmother gave (she has passed) and I hope to incorporate it in my bouquet. I'm still working on something borrowed :/
  14. Awesome ideas ladies. Thank you for posting. I am still nervous because I want a traditional wedding and am not sure how it will turn out.
  15. My dress is form fitting to my body (as if made only for me lol). I would not say it is tight because I can dance and actually walk in it (I tried several in a similar style that I penguin walked).
  16. We will be gifting a massage at the resort for our parents. We thought it would be a great idea to pamper them since they are our parents and are helpful. We thought of picture frames and photo books but my MIL probably already will have one done lol
  17. I was concerned at first with our guest attendance. We invited 60 ppl and as of yesterday 16 have booked. At total I'm guessing that we will have 25 ppl (including our 9 attendants). The way I have dealt with the disappointment is adding things to the wedding that I may not have added with a large group (ex. Welcome cocktail, excursions for the group). At the end of the day the ppl that care the most will move mountains to celebrate this special day with you!
  18. My bachelorette party is 3 months before my wedding (my MOH is pregnant and does not want to be big for the party lol). It is a complete surprise so I was only provided a list of what to pack. I purchased this dress because I thought it was fun and can be dressed up or casual depending on these surprise activities. Wish me luck
  19. My wedding package includes a hair trial so I'm hoping to alleviate some stress during this time. My make up is either getting done by my mother (with many test runs before the day) or I may pay for the spa to do it. My biggest concerns is deciding whether to go natural or big bold eyes?? Decisions decisions
  20. Of course I could tell you to eat healthy and exercise as much as possible but I won't. I have personally went to my primary doctor for assistance on weight loss. I was prescribed weight loss medication and in a month I have lost 10lbs (I also try to exercise 5 dats a wk) . My goal is to lose another 15lbs before September and to try to keep it off. I am currently 185lbs but just a year ago I was 173lbs. I tend to gain weight at rapid rates which is nuts to me because I don't eat unhealthy.
  21. Hi, I have used weight watchers in the past. For me the program was effective when I stuck to it and exercised. It was personally difficult to always count points and keep track of what I ate (I barely eat). So for my wedding I have contacted my primary doctor and was prescribed weight loss pills and have exercised 5 days a week. I know the weight loss pills are a bit extreme but I needed the added push and they have effectively worked. I'm hoping to get down 15 lbs before September (for my last dress fitting) and in a month I'm down 10lbs already. After this next month on my pills I will continue eating more fruits , veggies and water along with exercising.
  22. Hi, I have ran into this same issue. I have so far two ppl who have booked with other agents. My TA said I would need to add them to our wedding separately (our TA is sending a list to the resort). I have a spreadsheet to keep track and I also had each guest email me their confirmations once received.
  23. Planning ahead is always best. I started planning my wedding 4 years ago and I still feel so unprepared.
