  1. Good luck. I'm not crafty so ordering everything or buying once there.
  2. Definitely true. I'm an emotional wreck and I've noticed that I'm so laid back (maybe that's why I'm emotional).
  3. Cute story. Ours was at a park on the beach in Miami, FL on our 3 year anniversary (cliche)... But lots of thought went into it because he says I'm complicated
  4. My response was "really, yes". The whole thing was shocking.
  5. That's just plain rude. I have had people ask if they could bring someone else but I have yet had anyone book without being invited. Courtesy is those on the invite are the ones invited. No extras are in our budget.
  6. I have 3 bridesmaids and a maid of honor. There are 3 groomsmen and 2 best men.
  7. Hi, Not sure if this will help but we chose the package that comes with the bouquet and boutonnière. I am not really using flowers anywhere else other than the ones in my package. I think they are costly but I do know that the flowers used are the ones in season at that time.
  8. I chose to do programs for the ceremony on fans. But I think the other stuff is excessive especially if you are at a resort most people will know what's going on (if told by mouth).
  9. I think you have to look at places outside the box. I was a BM in a wedding and the bride purchased our dresses for $10 at a flea market place and they were different, lightweight and so comfy. We looked nice and it was what she envisioned. Just food for thought.
  10. Yea I'm not old but my soul is (atleast that's what people tell me). I like to be home, I love quiet time, I can't hang out for long, I question how I survived partying in college and I feel I've aged 15 years since my daughter (and she's 5).
  11. I think a translator is a good idea for the ceremony. ( I've been to weddings where the priest translated from the native language to English) For the toast I think it is beautiful to have it in your native language.
  12. Hi, Seems like you are going with a relaxed look. I think a small veil would be nice with chandelier earrings and a necklace. The second dress looks fun. Maybe add some different shoes (silver or gold heels) to look sexy.
  13. I've said on numerous occasions to my FI that I want to elope. In the beginning the idea sounded beautiful and simple. But as we get closer I feel I'm losing my mind. Many ppl have disappointed and will not show. Our budget keeps growing and it's frustrating to not have the help i need. Getting married with 2 witnesses and our daughter sounds cheaper and stress free.
  14. I am doing paper bags with our intials and filling them with information and a rum bottle (I figured some ppl won't appreciate the bag itself)
  15. Hi, I think some things you mention are not necessary like (programs, menus, fans). Make a list of things that you absolutely must have and go by that. Your guest will have a good time regardless and most of those things you mentioned will probably be left behind anyway.
  16. Hi we are getting married on October 10, 2014 in Jamaica. We've been planning our wedding for 4 years now finally last year I told him that we need to "just do it". On our 3 year anniversary June 13, 2010 we took a 10 day vacation to Florida. The day before we spent the day in miami. At 12am he decided to stop by a park on the beach. We walked around for a bit (I guess he was looking for a good spot). He then gave me a bottle in a wine bottle cover. It was a message in a bottle w/ a beautiful letter he had hand written and sealed. Once I finished reading he knelt down on one knee and said "will you marry me". I in turn said "what, yes" lol and we decided on Jamaica that same day.
  17. We sent out STD in the form of postcards directing ppl to our site and our TAs information. But 5 mos before the wedding we sent out passports just formally inviting ppl and it included an itinerary for the day.
  18. These are our bridesmaids dresses. They chose the dress as a group and it is flattering to each one. My MOH is wearing the same dress but in grey.
  19. Great read and absolutely true. Although I am getting married away I still want a traditional wedding and ppl have criticized me on that. We love Jamaica and that's why we chose to get married their but ultimately I want everything traditional. It's our day so it's our way!
  20. @@jennifernoel1 no the beach reception is $260 for the tent plus $1800 for actual reception (and this is the less expensive choice). Which is nuts because I wouldn't even want a tent but it's mandatory. Not to mention way more expensive then $800 for 40 guest.
  21. Great thread ladies. I am getting married this October at IBRHS. So far the email responses between the resort are usually within 48hours. They are very informative. We are getting married in the lobby location overseeing the resort. Our guest list as of yesterday is 25. We are hoping to have 40 so we can have a private reception. I have reservations about a semi private reception because it is only dinner and we would have to pay extra for a space. I think renting a tent on the beach and the dinner cost is ridiculous (especially because we are at an all inclusive). We are still seeking a photographer (but FYI sungold photography does beautiful work unfortunately they are booked on our date). I will return after the wedding to update and make reviews on my own experience.
  22. I used destination weddings.com travel agent. Has worked well for me and sending save the dates with a website is always a decent idea so people can plan ahead.
