  1. @@lauralc..thanks! Yours sound like great gifts. Can i be your bridesmaid? LOL. Do they have a K and G where you live? It was recommended to us by the manager at Mens wearhouse. Weird place BUT unbelievable prices and selection for Mens suits. Bill will do jacket, vest and pants and either a bowtie or a tie. The guys will do just the vest and not sure about a tie or bowtie. Three pics attached. Groom inspiration #3 , groomsen inspiration #1 and then the actual suit #2 Its Michael kors. $75.. I also found realtouch flowers on etsy. Designsbyjlynn. She is doing this new thing where she can offer you reaallly nice discount if you give her the fredom of picking your flowers. You give her 3 colors she can use and your overall theme. I havent recieved my flowers yet but im throwing it out there in case that sounds like something you would like to do.
  2. I feel like this weekend FH and I made big steps. We are back on speaking terms as now he is really helping. I know generally grooms aren't involved much in the process but he wont get away with that. All he had to do was send out the invitations, which I found last week in his car after one month. which is the reason I have not been speaking to him. Things are better now. What are y'all doing for bridal party gifts if any? I feel like we ran into some great deals this weekend. I have 2 MOH and 1 bridesmaid. I found long beautiful dresses at macy's and bought them for them (they were $100 each) Also found a little make up kit from Benefit called "Cabana Glama, your DesTANation make up kit". My mom gave them robes, travel jewelry cases and aromatherapy eye masks and sunglasses at our shower. For the men (there is 6 gm's), we had planned on gifting them shirt, bowtie and socks. However we also found the linen pants and vests we wanted for $75 each set. Mens Wearhouse was quoting us $98 for the rental and we weren't crazy about the suit but were going along with it because it was cream colored. We ended up buying the pants and vests for each groomsman and thought that would be a nice gift since they can keep it. Every man needs a linen suit, don't ya think? Do y'all think this is enough? I feel like I should have something for them in Mexico but we really are over budget with the gifts. Would you be expecting more?
  3. At the end of the day, your wedding will still be a special intimate experience for those who are choosing to attend. I know it is tough, but try to keep positive thoughts. To be honest, i was one of the last minute bookers for my sisters destination wedding. I kept saying ya ya ill be there. Some of her guests had to stay at another resort. My TA would send me little emails like "hi, we only have 6 rooms left in the room block and hotel is almost at capacity. I would hate for your guests to miss out and have to stay at another resort." Not exact wording, but like a little teaser. Then i forwarded that email out. To create urgency.
  4. @@TheBHolders, when is your wedding? My colors are also gold, ivory and blush. Will you be selling items after wedding
  5. @@carrieandsam. I was thinking of having the guitarist during cocktail hour. @@linaco80 the decision between menus has been my bridezilla momemt this week. I have a call with Coordinator tommorrow. Its going to depend on if they cam do 2 lines for buffet and make the "garnishes" a little more "local" sounding. Im goimg to ask her if she thinks we can be done w plated in 1hr15min max!! Yes costs have doubled, but mostly due to airfare out of Dallas and we decided to stay 7 nights instead of 5. If you go on youtube and put daft punk flamenco, it will come up. Also under Lomas Travel under planning, music. @tiffanyfox. Did you like the set up at buffet? Did they make it look nice n fancy? @@linaco80 trios are really nice too. Dont underestimate them.. they are excellent alternative to mariachis. Our crowd if from Miami so Flamenco is right up their alley
  6. @@linaco80..i know right! Ive heard great things about buffet. Ive always wanted a plated dinner but dang....i dont wanna cut the party. Its only 4 hours. We were offering the steak and lobster, mahi mahi and a vegan option..my heart was set on family style but it would add $600 to budget..it adds up ya know. I also wanted Mariachi's but i went with the flamenco guitarist. Less than maraichi's and have you heard daft punk in flamemco? Awesome.
  7. I am using @Pixan Photographer. I feel really comfortable with Jonathan. His rates are very reasonable too. you would incur a vendor fee. For me, in the grand scheme of things, i felt highly uncomfortable using a photog i wasnt completely sold on. Bringing my own DJ. He will be a guest for more than 3 nights. Dinner, i had already decided on plated and response cards have been sent but now there are 97 guests. I just wanna party. Less time for dinner sounds good to me
  8. Who is doing plated and who is dping buffet? How did you come to that decision? Cant decide
  9. @@linaco80..you're not alone. We feel ya girl. So far I dont regret anything. I find myself second guessing everything though. The future husband says i grind a decision to death. I wish i was better informed about overall costs of a wedding.. we are double our budget and i have not been extravagant.
  10. Hi Ladies, I hope you are all well. I took a hiatus because according to fiance I have become a tyrant. We also traveled to Florida for our shower. Will attach a pic. We are all slowly creeping up on our dates. I will be better at responding and giving feedback. Whover said this should be the best time of my life is sadly mistaken. Our guest count went from 43 to 97. I let go of the extra rooms to avoid possibly having to change menu's. Now i am thinking about doing a buffet rather than plated becasue i am afraid plated meal will take forever. Thoughts on this? Still wokring on decorations. Need 12 centerpieces and only found 8. @carriendsam i found them at HomeGoods. Only 8 though. Bummer. How did your samples arrive fromm bloombridal? Have you picked centerpieces? OOT bags, thank goodness my sister in law has offered to take over that project. Overall still excited just overwhelmed Oops forgot to attach pic
  11. Hi all, I know that its not kosher to talk about budgets. I just sat and did an excel spreadsheet of where we are and whats left to pay for. I am over by 8K. I want to vomit. How can this have happened? Im not extravagant. Was i realistic in thinking i could do a wedding for 10k? Thoughts please..im dying
  12. @@linaco80. I will probably take my own vases. I always find great deals at hobby lobby and michaels. My airfare includes 3 pieces of luggage @@Ydolem. That centerpiece w the crystals is beautiful! Thats what Lomas wants to charge $50 each? Grrrr
  13. These are the silk ones i ordered. Maybe i can place them om a vase and make it look like the second pic.. think this is possible?
  14. @@linaco80 maybe something like "please join us at Mojito Lounge following reception for more cocktails, laughter and merriment" @@carrieandsam your cake is tooo fun and so creative! Im sure everyone will love it! What is everyone doing for flowers? I thought of only 40 guests, but we are at 75 which means i need more tables! Thoughts on silk flowers or any experience w Lomas you can share?
  15. @@carrieandsam I have same question. I am going to ask my Photographer if he can recocmmend a tour company. I trust him..domt know why cause Ive never met him but he has been so down to earth and responsive
  16. Soo cute!!! @@carrieandsam. Now its all gonna feel so real! I'm attaching my invites. I plan to have them out by feb.
  17. @@linaco80 I am so sorry to hear that. That is downright catty. Perhaps those werent the intentions of whoever called, but they should still not be refferring to your wedding at all. I also think the coordinators in Miami read this forum. I often google the place I work and read reviews of the people I work with. I am also planning on using an outside vendor for DJ. They made me aware of the $800 vendor fee, but to be fair, she also told me that if he was a guest for 3+ nights, he would not be subject to that fee. We are dealing with a similar issue. They "Lomas" agreed to rent me just speakers and lights. However I asked them to clarify if the speakers are powered or not, if subwoofer is included and if they will provide all the wires/connections I need. That was on 12/26/2015. So I have emailed by travel agent and she was able to go above my coordinator and see what the hold up is in answering a question. I am not happy. One bit . I am 5 months away with no DJ. Keep us posted on your situation. Sometimes being firm and borderline mean works
  18. Mine was $100 per room to create the room block. But guests were $100 per person to book their rooms. My TA is giving guests the option of doing monthly payments as well. I did not have to shell out money for rhe additional rooms. And i am not sure how, but i qualified for another promotion and got the honwymoon suite for $2300 total for 7 days..
  19. @@Janjin. My biggest stressor has been the room situation. We initially booked 21 rooms. We booked when there was a promotion and at 21 + rooms, you would qualify for an extra cocktail hr. People were really slow to book and some showed no interest at all. All of a sudden we have 40 rooms booked! I would do 21 and then keep adding. Its easier to release rooms by your cut off date.
  20. @@lauralc, According to my travel contract, $100 towards wine credit, $100 toward spa credit and $50 towards a candlelight dinner. I read somwehere (not sure where) that the maximum per table at Le Chicque are 4 people. Hope this helps
  21. @linaco..are they gonna charge you the fee? I am almost tempted to leave the resort in a cab to do my make up
  22. Beautiful video. I just hired Pixan Photgraphy. I feel like that was half the battle! Congrats! Classy yet beachy @@LaurenR, so far I have purchased lanterns, 9 inch vases that i will use to make floating candle centerpices and mirrors for the tables. I think I will stop there beacsue i still need to bring my OOT bags and stuff to fill them.
  23. Hello Fellow Brides, My wedding date is June 21 2015. Ceremony will be Sky deck and they also agreed to let me have a cocktail hour there. The reception will be at Plaza Zavas. I have asked my guests to wear white or shades of white. I don't know why I just love that look. I hope it looks as nice as it plays out in my mind. I have sooo many ideas that I am overwhelmed. I am sure you feel the same. I decided on bringing my own paper lanterns to hang. I see some brides have suggested using paperlanternstore.com. But I also want to do string lighting outside of the gazebo area. Does anyone know how many strands I need and how many feet they should be? THANK YOU!
  24. thanks @kmk2106, I loved the idea orginally..but since I have so much time between now and wedding date, I find myself second guessing some decision I have made. I have not found any information from forum members. I think its very unique idea. and maybe each table can have their own bottle of wine too
