  1. So we're going with teal as our color - girls are wearing mis-matched shades of it and such. I am stumped on flower colors. Any ideas on colors that would look nice and how to tie it together since there aren't any naturally teal flowers?
  2. To those who have a package with 25 guests and went/are going over, what did you do about extra cake? Is it really worth it to have them make a bigger cake for the extra $4/per person (or whatever it is)? We're trying to save some money and my thought is that especially since the package comes with a separate dessert, a bigger wedding cake isn't necessary.
  3. I agree with this 100%!! My first wedding (I was 25) was a huge affair with more than 150 people. My ex MIL made me cry every day because it 'was all about her.' And the things I cared about then are so different from what I care about now, at 33. Now my wedding will be significantly scaled down from the first one, but I don't care. I like this one SO much more. And I think I have my priorities in check much better too.
  4. @chelseapaige37 I think you could absolutely do a belt with this dress. The dress is beautiful!
  5. We're going to have nice OOT bags and then our favor is really small - some fancy Italian candy (FI is Italian and it's a traditional Italian favor apparently.)
  6. My FI keep going back and forth over what to include in our OOT bag. Would love your opinions on this: 1. two pairs of sunglasses 2. Advil, tums, potato chips, etc. 3. Welcome letter, etc. 4. CD of our fav romantic songs Then we're going to try to find something once we get there at Cost Co that is indigenous to Mexico - like jalopeno jelly or something like that.
  7. We're getting Tres Leches. FI LOVES it. I didn't care.
  8. I think getting no's comes with the territory of a destination wedding, but I also think we'll all be surprised by who says no and who says yes. FI's aunt isn't coming because she is afraid that mexican drug lords will chop her head off. lol. Everyone has their reasons. It will be an amazing day for us all regardless!!
  9. @@lornj29 Have you seen the property? It's stunning! I haven't been married yet so I can't share pictures but what I will say is that there were a TON of great spots on property for photos.
  10. We are switching resorts but not destinations. Our itinerary looks like this: July 8 - Arrive at Now Sapphire July 12 - wedding July 14 - Depart for honeymoon - El Dorado July 19 - head home
  11. I just booked my honeymoon at El Dorado Casitas Royale and am SO excited!!! We're staying in an infinity edge pool casita which I am totally psyched about. Yay!!! Wondering if anyone who has stayed there has feedback to share? I've heard such great things so far.
  12. Our wedding will be at a family-friendly resort (Now sapphire) and then we're going adults-only for our honeymoon (El Dorado Casitas Royale).
  13. We're getting married at Now Sapphire and I found their rates very reasonable. We picked the highest package and it's $3,200 or so, though we'll be going over 25 guests so it's going to get pricier. We also went with an outside photographer and DJ. I thought rates were reasonable for July. $479/per person for a 3 night stay including ground transfers.
  14. NY bride here! Getting married in July at Now Sapphire. Yay!!
  15. @@tcaurie07 I'm not a past bride but I did do a site inspection at Now Sapphire and will use the Tequila Terrace. In my opinion, a light up dance floor was not needed. I was really happy to save that money!
  16. @@DesireeG I haven't had my wedding yet, but I can give you some feedback that will hopefully be helpful. El Dorado - BEAUTIFUL property!! That's where we're going for our honeymoon. I stayed at another Karisma property and toured El Dorado, had the food - all incredible. That said, when you work with a Karisma property, you are obligated to use their vendors, all of which are booked through their agency, Lomas. They're very expensive. If you're looking for something cost effective, I don't think this is a good choice. The rooms are also pricey. I can't speak about their wedding coordinators because I never got that far. We did the bride's dress rehearsal ($399 for 3 nights - worth looking into.) and crossed it off our list after doing a breakdown on costs and pros and cons against the other properties we looked at. Now Sapphire - We were able to get all of our 'must haves' and 'would like to haves' here. We booked the highest package (Divine) and hired a DJ and photographer externally. Based on 40 guests, we're looking at about $9,500. This does not include accommodations for us, flights, honeymoon, invitations, decorations or dress. When that's all said and done, we'll be at the $20,000 mark or so.Hope that helps.
  17. I'm doing varying shades of teal. I saw the most beautiful teal paper in AC Moore (which will be part of my invite) and that got me set on using it at the wedding itself.
  18. @@jh0510038 Juan Carlos sent me pictures of the Tequila Terrace the way they light it up for nighttime events (I had only seen it during the day.) If you want the pictures - I don't have enough posts to post them here - just email me. It's robynbrooke81@@gmail.com.
  19. @@nadiakat17 Oriental Trading has an awesome wedding catalog with a lot of candy bar stuff. I love the idea of a candy bar, but would customs allow it to be brought in from the states? I thought that wasn't allowed?
  20. We hired Disco Movil - we're getting married this July. He's been wonderful, very responsive, etc. I like that they have a music database online so you can start sending in your selections waaaay in advance. I've heard mixed things about the resort dj, just fyi. Also, it's cheaper to pay the vendor fee and the dj then it is to hire the resort's.
  21. I've been to one destination wedding and they didn't give any favors, nor did the bride (I was MOH) give the girls any sort of thank you gift. I thought that all was extremely rude seeing as we spent thousands to be at her wedding in the first place. We haven't decided on BP gifts, but are def doing them. As for favors, we want to do molcajete bowls. They're expensive though ($15) so we'd do one per couple, if our budget permits. They're also heavy, so our plan is to have a CD with our favorite songs at each place setting with a note that says we'll be giving them their gift (and explain what it is) upon their return home.
  22. @@beckys98 The Maldives would be AMAZING!!! I'll be so so jealous if you go.
