@@KRP87 Congrats! I'm a July bride too To answer your questions: 1. If you just show up impromtu with a group for dinner after your ceremony, they won't take more than 10 people at a table. However, you could get your entire group together in a semi-private area I believe, for about $24 per person. 2. Prices for the salon you can find on my wedding website. (I'm totally type A. lol). Just go to the FAQ page. The site is www.jeffandrobyn2015.com.

Are you wearing a Garter
jeffandrobyn replied to Golden's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Nope, no garter. -
@@goldammerpayne They are destination wedding experts and a total pleasure to work with. As for a less than $5,000 wedding, my resort - Now Sapphire - can accommodate that. They have some free options and then some paid options and then some add-ons, but you could even do the highest package they offer for less than $5k so long as you're 25 people or less. After that (which is my problem) the per person rate makes the price skyrocket. But actually, you could add a DJ on to that as well (hire one externally) and still stay within budget. Plus they're great to work with!

Unconventional Ways Of Doing Reception?
jeffandrobyn replied to Lia33's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I love the idea of doing father/daughter mother/son at the same time! I doubt my FI will go for it but I'm def going to suggest it. With the reception itself only being 3 hours, I don't want to take up too much time doing 'formal' reception things. A garter and bouquet toss is not my thing, but I would like to do entrances and speeches. -
Did you meet your fiance online?
jeffandrobyn replied to nicmicj's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
@@candle23 I met my FI on Plenty of Fish too! And we joke about the bad rep it has....though he had better experience meeting nice girls versus me meeting nice guys. We would message back and forth through POF, then we moved on to texting and then a phone call where he asked me out to lunch. From the time we started chatting until the time we met was probably 2+ weeks. We had an instant connection when we met...so cliche but true. I can see him approaching the restaurant so clearly in my head, and my first thought was 'wow, i get to have lunch with THAT!' (because i found him instantly attractive.) when we didn't want lunch to end, we went for dessert and when we didn't want that to end, we just spent hours talking. at the end of the day he said 'i know this is crazy but how do you feel about being exclusive?' i figured i had nothing to lose so i said okay. about 10 months later we got engaged. now it's been almost a year and a half that we're together and i am loving every minute of it. we are getting married in july. -
Wedding Dress Shopping Dilemma
jeffandrobyn replied to helenk's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
@@helenk I ended up picking out my dress myself. I hear what you're saying about missing people but if you go alone, you don't have anyone to sway your decision. Here's my story - the first time I went with my aunt. She had some influence over me and I picked a dress I would start to second guess. About two months later, after days of looking at pictures of me in it, I started to have doubts. I decided to go back to the store by myself, to either decide to keep my dress or try something else. I ended up with something else that I LOVE. It was def the right choice. It helped that anyone I showed pictures to said they liked the new dress better than the first, but I'm glad I didn't have other people's opinions to go off when I was making up my mind. Have fun! -
@@emstypes Wow! How did you get free stuff from Vistaprint??? I feel like I'm ordering from there every other day and I haven't gotten any offers for free stuff. So far I've ordered: - 20 tote bags - 50 postcards with directions on booking rooms - 50 placecards - 1 package of return address labels - 1 package of business cards that promote instagramming our wedding and using the wedpics app

I am trying to figure out what looks best with the raffia - feedback is greatly appreciated. Some things to note: on the picture with the raffia wrapped both ways, imagine a starfish charm in the middle. In the second picture, the color is off so don't pay attention to that. Thanks ladies! PS - we have some enclosures to include so one of the concerns is that if I do horizontal raffia only, they'll fall out. Or...do we not wrap them up with the raffia if we do sideways only??

@@SoozeCruise We are using Disco Movil - Ricardo is great. Super fast to respond on emails and very helpful. We are saving almost $400 with him, and that's with the outside vendor fee. For photography, we are using Juan Navarro. He has great reviews on here, and then someone I met at a work conference coincidentally brought him up when he heard I was getting married in Mexico. We don't have a lot of flowers for the wedding itself, but we want to do mason jars with floating roses in each for our welcome cocktail reception the Friday before the wedding. We're not going to mention to the resort that we're doing that. Our plan is to go to CostCo, buy the flowers, cut them ourselves and just place them on each table. As far as other decorations go, my suggestion would be to research the cost of buying them versus renting from the resort so your costs don't balloon. For example, we want to use lanterns as part of our centerpieces. The resort wanted $250 for 6 of them. Crazy!!! We bought them on Amazon for $11 each and will fly with them. Same thing with chair sashes - $5 at the resort per chair or we bought them for 35 cents each and will then pay $1/chair set-up fee. Your costs don't have to skyrocket.

We sent out STD in September for our July 2015 wedding. Our invitations are going out the first week of January. We picked that time because our room block expires at the end of March.

@@SoozeCruise we are using an outside DJ and an outside photographer. The fee is $300 per vendor, but they make an exception for photographers which I don't understand but I'm not complaining! Photographers just need a day pass, which is $65. @@SoozeCruise I looked into lanterns as well. I was planning to bring my own - I had originally purchased a handful on theknot.com just to see if I liked them. They were about $1 each I believe and really pretty. I'm guessing that $1,000 figure is if you rent the lanterns from the resort, because Juan Carlos quoted me $400 for labor if I supply them because there are also poles that need to be set-up. I thought that was outrageous so we nixed that idea. @TMC4252015 I was about to go with Maya Floral as well, until Juan Carlos told me that they no longer allow you to meet the florist at the gate (which is how you could get around the $300 vendor fee) unless I had that option in writing from them, which I did not. We don't have tons of extra flowers though - we are making our own centerpieces and they require some flowers, but not much. I think if you have a large flower order it is worth it even with the vendor fee. For us, it was about a $60 difference so it was no longer worth it since we would've had to pay that extra fee.

Thought I'd help my fellow brides who are up to envelopes (like me!). So FI and I are making our own invitations, but we decided to consider outsourcing envelope printing. I've done a ton of research locally (I live on Long Island) and also called places like envelopes.com and such with no luck - either they don't have the right color or they're super expensive. But....today I found LCI paper (www.lcipaper.com) and they were a pleasure to speak to on the phone. You can go online and check out hundreds of colors in dozens of finishes and order samples of each for $1.25 with free shipping. For printing, they'll do front and back side for $1.25 each or a few cents more if you pick a metallic paper and that cost includes the envelope. I live on Long Island where prices are higher I think, but quotes I was getting as a comparison were anywhere from $2:00 - $3.25 each and in some cases that didn't even include the envelope itself. Hope that helps some of you!

FI and I have decided to outsource the printing of our envelopes - both the guest address and the return address. We are working on DIY invitations and I keep thinking about what a nightmare the envelopes could be. When I googled, I see there are a lot of companies out there that do this. Anyone have a recommendation? Thank you!
