  1. Hi! I work in the travel industry and my suggestion would be to not do this. When new hotels open (regardless of if they're former properties with new ownership), they always have some kinks to work out that usually last three months or so. And that's assuming it opens on time (they usually don't unfortunately.) Hyatt overall is an awesome brand, but also keep in mind that it has several levels - for example Grand Hyatts are in a different class than Hyatt Regency - and prices and service levels reflect that. Also, Hyatt is relatively new to the all-inclusive concept. Just fyi.
  2. My fiance and I joke that we're on the 'accelerated' path. He asked me to be exclusive after our first date, which probably should've scared me, but it didn't. Now I believe that when you know, you just know. We moved in together after two months and started talking marriage a few months after that. We got engaged just over a week ago, and we've been together for about 10 months. We've been planning our research trip to Mexico since January, and I knew a proposal would come before we got there. One day he asked me if I'd like to see the show Wicked, then told me he bought tickets. Now those tickets are very expensive, definately not a 'let's do this for no reason' type of purchase so I had my eyebrow raised that maybe this would be the day. But then the night before, he asked if I would mind if he invited his sister and her husband over for dessert the day of the show, so I figured I was wrong. Then I thought, if there's even a remote possibility, it would happen before the show was over. The show ended and no proposal. We were in the car driving home and I told him what a great day it was and how I didn't want it to end. I came really close to telling him that I thought he was going to propose that day, but kept the thought to myself. We got home and he tells me to come into the backyard. I thought nothing of it. Then we got to the end of the driveway and I saw white lights and lanterns and his sister peeping out the back window. I knew then that this was it. There was a fire going and candles everywhere, and champagne on ice. I was shaking. We had talked about this for so long and now here we were. Immediately after the proposal, he told me he had another surprise - out popped our families and my best friend for an impromptu little party. It was the greatest night ever. Can't wait to marry him!!
  3. My fiance and I are heading down to Mexico in a few weeks to scope out some venues and in reading all of the comments from you lovely ladies, we're now considering hiring an outside photographer and DJ. For those of you who are (or are planning) to do the same thing, are you meeting the vendors ahead of time? Or will all your communication be via email/phone? I just feel like we're already so strapped for time, seeing 3 resorts in 6 days. We really want some time to relax too.
