  1. What order are you doing things at your reception? For example dinner first, then party or dancing mixed in between courses? something else? With only 3 hours, I feel like I really have to be productive with my time. Juan Carlos suggested all of the meal upfront and then all dancing (besides first dance) afterwards, but I feel like that will then take forever until guests can actually do anything. Here's what we were thinking: Entrance First Dance Two dance songs for everyone Serve appetizer father/daughter dance Serve salad mother/son dance toast Serve dinner cake cutting dancing
  2. @@racht33 I honestly don't remember and can't find it in my email. I'm sorry! But google cheap chair bows, wedding chair bows, chiffon chair bows....stuff will come up. I got chiffon ones (satin may be more expensive) and I noticed at full price they're about a $1 or so. Even that's a great deal though when you compare it to what they charge. EVERYTHING was like that - cold fireworks from the resort - $400, through the DJ - $100. I incorporated lanterns into my centerpieces. I bought them for $11/each on Amazon. The resort would rent me 8 for $250 (I need 4). Yes, it's going to be a pain to get all this stuff there, but I think it's well worth it given the savings.

  4. @@DinaQtobe We are paying $600 for the DJ. But I forgot about the vendor fee which is $300 that the resort charges. So $900 total. Still cheaper than the resort's DJ though.
  5. @@racht33 that's great! Dreams and Now are both owned by AmResorts, so I'm sure there will be lots of similarities! My advice is to bring as much of your own stuff as you can because that is where they will get you. For example, we bought our own chair bows for about 60 cents each on sale. The resort charges a $1/bow labor fee. However, if you get chair bows from them they are $5/each. Happy planning!!!
  6. @@racht33 we are getting married next month at Now Sapphire. We have had an excellent planning experience and the value is terrific. It is also a very pretty resort. I had looked at Azul too. While the food is better than now sapphire (and now's is pretty good) and there is def a more boutique feel, we didn't like being nickel and dimed. Plus I didn't like that we were obligated to use their vendors. They advertise that they only do two or three (I can't remember which) weddings per day when you speak to them, but when you go on the lomas website I found in very small print that they will do up to one per hour. While we were there we saw two receptions taking place at the same time, just a few hundred feet apart. You could hear one wedding's music from the other wedding's spot. 10. @@ashlynm88 it was very nice. We didn't like the distance from the airport (1.5 hours) and they wedding dept wasn't flexible with making changes. Now sapphire (owned by the same company) is a better value. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yes. We met on Plenty of Fish. We chatted through the site then that led to a few weeks of texting, then a phone call and then a date. We hit it off on our first date! It was supposed to only be lunch but we ended up ditching our family plans and spent the entire afternoon together. At the end of the date, he asked me how I felt about being exclusive. I figured he was sweet and I had nothing to lose so said sure. We were nearly inseparable after that. We moved in together 2 months later and 10 months into our relationship got engaged. We will have been together for about 2 years when we get married next month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. We are using disco Movil. Good experience thus far but you can also check the reviews section on this site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. What is everyone doing as far as the order of their reception? Juan Carlos had suggested all of the food first and then dancing afterwards, vs mixing the two together. I also feel like for a 3 hour reception you need to make the best use of time.
  14. @@Ashleyg280 we are doing a brunch at home about six weeks after our wedding. We will use our day in Mexico as our anniversary. We are trying to focus on Actually getting married in NY just business so it doesn't feel like we have two dates. We aren't even bringing our real rings with us. 15. I've bought a lot at michaels but very little at full price. Like the other girls said, I use the 40% off coupons too. Sometimes it means making multiple trips but it's worth it for the savings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. The girls asked me how I wanted them their hair and this was my opening. I told them to do whatever they want but if they want to have it done let me know in advance and I'll let them know what the cost is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. We are doing an AHR too and also struggled with our guest list, mainly because my fiancé has a huge extended family (2nd and 3rd cousins) who were not invited to Mexico. It became an argument - he doesn't see these people ever. Once a year at the very best, and that's pushing it. I don't even know if they know we are engaged. In addition to them, we invited family/friends who were invited to Mexico but couldn't come as well as a handful of people we just couldn't invite but wanted to celebrate with. Our immediate family and wedding party are also invited. So our guest list is at about 80 which I am not thrilled about but whatever. I think that if you are inviting someone who is married, even if you never met their spouse, that spouse should be invited. Maybe put your teacher friends on a B list? 18. @@Megg I borrowed your 'life is a gift' line. It was so beautiful.
  19. @@Ashleyg280 My fiance is an attorney. If you have it in writing that you've got that space, then that's a contract. She broke it. They need to do WAAAAAAY more than just give you some sort of compensation - which I assume wouldn't be anything significant. Honestly, you could probably take her to small claims court and sue. I'm not a very drastic person but when it comes to something like your wedding, it's something worth considering. Have you been in touch with anyone at the resort? You should've been introduced to your wedding coordinator. You should've also gotten a more detailed contract directly from the resort.
  20. @@Megg Wow! Your vows are so beautiful that they made me tear up - and I don't even know you!!!! Thanks for sharing. And congrats on your wedding!
  21. I think it is normal to be nervous but I wouldn't say scared. I don't think any of us are going to find a man who we think is 100% perfect and vice versa. We all have our flaws so if I were you I would think about if his are going to end up being a deal breaker for you. There's a line from the Sex in the City movie that stuck with me. Samantha asks 'how often are you happy in your relationship?' And Charlotte answered ' every day. Maybe not every minute of every day but every day.' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. My fiance and I are doing our own vows. I like what I wrote but I feel like it's too short. At the same time, I don't want to write a book. Here's what I've got. Anyone have suggestions? Feedback? I can still see you so clearly in my mind walking towards me at the start of our first date. I remember thinking ‘wow,’ he’s so cute! Then one week later you started talking about marrying me, and ‘wow’ went to ‘whoa!’ I don’t know why I didn’t run at that point. Most people probably would have. But not running was the greatest decision I ever made because if I had, I would’ve missed out on finding my best friend. I would’ve missed out on spending my life with the guy I get a little sad about leaving every morning, and excited to see when I come home. And I’d never have the privilege of becoming your wife today. So now I promise you this. I promise to always make us my priority. I promise to always be your cheerleader and stand behind you. I promise to throw out your socks when they have holes in them without telling you, but also to continue confiding in you about everything else. I will always believe in you, be there for you and cherish every moment we have together. But most importantly, I promise to love you forever.
  23. @@vancouverpetunia Oh, i was referring only to overhead. I nearly fell over when I heard $400. But if it's just going along the side then that makes a lot of sense that it would be cheaper. I suggest buying the lights yourself though to save money. @@Ashleyg280 I'm sorry but that's unacceptable and total b.s. Who is your TA and what are they doing to make up for their f up?? Do you have anything in writing confirming that they had booked the Tequila Terrace for you? My TA has really good relationships with these resorts so if it's not too late for you to switch she might be able to help you. Maybe then you can get the space you want but just shift the time your ceremony starts?
  24. @@jessiker05 the fee for an outside DJ is $300. Photographers and videographers have a day pass fee of $65/each. @@vancouverpetunia I thought about decorating the pergola with twinkle (xmas) lights and chinese lanterns. Even with bringing my own, it was something ridiculous like $400+ to have them set up because of the labor and poles that were needed.
