  1. Exciting!! Have a blast and take lots and lots of pictures so you can share with all of us
  2. When do you leave @@NJBride2014?? Sorry @@chelseapaige37, I don't have much advice to give as we decided to not have a wedding party. Good luck and as if its worth it to you to have them in your wedding, I say stick with it too!
  3. The original date I wanted will be the day we get married (it didn't work out to do a wedding that day because of me having to travel across the country for work). Our dates will only be 7 days apart and I kind of joked with my fiance that we will have 2 anniversary's too. I really really wanted to legally get married in Mexico, there was just no way it could work out. I think we will end up celebrating on our legal wedding date since that will be the "real" anniversary.
  4. @Crystal17-You're welcome! I am afraid of losing stuff too and after reading around and talking to Jessica and our TA, I decided to not chance it.
  5. I am not planning on shipping anything. From what I have read it is quite the hassle and the resort is not responsible for your items. I am just planning on packing my items and bringing them with me. Which will reduce the stuff I do for them.
  6. After reading this thread I feel "lucky" that everyone I have told about doing the legal wedding the weekend before is happy for us and thinks its a great idea. Unfortunately between my job and my fiances business we had such a small window to actually get married doing a legal ceremony in Mexico wasn't even an option for us with all of their restrictions.
  7. Yup you will be good to go! I am such a heels person and my fiance loves me being "tall" so now just need to find the right shoes! I have no idea what would even work with my dress.
  8. Well I would be going barefoot for the ceremony on the sand and it would be longer to go with heels for the reception portion. So that's why the gal said I would have to hold it. But I will only hold it till right before I walk on the sand. Don't worry I didn't even think about that part till the sales girl mentioned it!
  9. Right! I love the pictures of the real brides as they are all different and it looks great across the board!
  10. When I tried on my dress the gal who was helping me said I should get heels no higher than 3" and remember you have to hold your dress, bouquet and dad's arm walking down the isle. I will hold my dress till I get to the sand and it will just puddle a little bit on the sand as I walk. Hopefully won't be too bad, but I haven't found shoes yet either...
  11. I will be 33 and my fiance will be 41 when we marry. Second wedding for him and first for me. Just took him 30 years to find me!
  12. Agreed! I am using weddingwire for my budget and website and don't care for the forums as much on there as I enjoy the ones on here. Maybe its because we are all DW brides and have that in common.
  13. @@Pablou I agree its total personal preference. One thing I loved about this dress and the website, is they show REAL brides wearing their dresses, not just the stick thin models. Check out this page and the 12th bride down (she has tattoos and I think it looks great). http://www.katiemay.com/pages/brides
  14. We are getting legally married the weekend before, just the two of us (and a photographer) at a beautiful courthouse a couple of hours away. I never thought I would do that, but when my fiance brought up the idea, I got super emotional and really felt like we were getting married. Silly I know, but it just seemed perfect for us and I am telling everyone lol. I am just telling everyone, at first I was hesitant to tell anyone about our idea. But once I did, I got good feedback and now I like that we have two "weddings" both very special for their own reasons and it gets me excited to have that special time together before going to the DW when we will be around our guests the majority of the time.
  15. Love the backless dress! Here is mine (minus the strap in the back) Just went shopping this past weekend....
  16. I hope you had good dreams about the dress @becky98. Honestly I never thought I would spend more than $1,000 on a dress but once I saw this one, I knew it was it (before even trying it on!). There are site's where girls resell their dresses after their wedding. I saw a few Katie May's on there too, might be an option for a lower price point!
  17. I effeminately want to go barefoot on the beach, but I have no idea what shoes to wear after for my reception. What is everyone else doing?? I just got my dress this weekend and not sure what would go well and have to worry about the hem, since I will be barefoot but wearing shoes later....
  18. I just got mine this past weekend for $1,550 never thought I would spend that much on a dress. But I feel in love with it awhile back (before I though my now fiance would be my fiance) and I know he will love it. I won't have mine for 3-4 months!
  19. Thanks @@beckys98!! Its a Katie May dress found here: http://www.katiemay.com/products/poipu. I LOVE her dresses, beautiful but not crazy priced. Ah thanks @!!! I really hope he likes it, the second I saw it (on Pinterest) I feel in love and thought it would be perfect!
  20. I agree! Pick the dress you want, that makes you feel good and that you want to wear. The dress I got would not work at many venues, but perfect for a DW in Mexico! My fiance has always wanted me to wear a backless dress and what better time than our wedding! This is my dress (minus the strap in the back)....
