  1. We really wanted to go to another resort too, but it seemed more difficult than it would be worth it. So we just decided to stay longer at the resort and we are planning a 1 year anniversary trip for 2016 as our "honeymoon".
  2. Thank you @@HNeal for your comments, extremely helpful!! I like you idea of just small centerpieces on the table. That was my idea and great to know they were able to help you out with that! Did you do assigned seating? Is anyone else planning on doing assigned seating if you have just one long table? I am confused about the extra decor too, let me know if you find out!
  3. I have heard that too @@JenniferH114, but Jessica said she might be able to let us use it, but we wouldn't know till we were only months out. I didn't want to wait that long to book it and ended up like Los Olas better anyways with a small group and no dancing. I think they want to make sure there are at least 35 guests because of the labor that goes into setting up the Lobster House compare to Los Olas.
  4. Great question about the floor, I was wondering that myself the other day (since I haven't purchased shoes yet). Did Jessica quote you $100 for the lights?
  5. You're welcome! I love it too. Thanks for chatting gals, I have gotten off the wedding planning train lately and my fiance isn't as into as much as I am so thank you for getting me inspired again!!
  6. Just sent it to you! I think you are unable to see it because you have to have over a certain amount of posts to view/post pictures.
  7. Can you see it now? $60 is not bad at all! I think it adds to the ambiance.
  8. We are doing more of a Mexican theme too, thought we might as well embrace where we are! The bright colors are fun and totally different than anything I would have done at home. I think it will turn out great in the pictures and hopefully not look like most weddings everyone has been to before.
  9. @hapykat-I am going to play it by ear, depending on how hot it is. Honestly I want to wear it all night long, since it will be the only time I get to wear it out!! But if I am just way too hot in it, I will change. I was thinking about using the lighting they have (seen in picture below) Jessica said they do it for $60. Minimal decor, haven't chosen the centerpieces yet and I think I might just add some of these tea lights. I don't want just one huge one either, I haven't totally decided yet (need to get on that!). @jenniferH118-I wonder if Jessica is talking about the same lights in the picture I posted, as she told me that is $60, but maybe its included (which is way better!). I am thinking we might do a first look too, I haven't 100% decided (fiance doesn't care and I think would rather do one).
  10. @@JenniferH114 I totally agree with you about Los Olas! Are you adding the string lights?? Jessica is actually the one who suggested the X-Lounge. I thought about doing the pier but also wanted to make sure we are able to take pictures on the pier. I will confirm the space though, thanks for mentioning that!
  11. @@hapykat Yes, we plan to go to the disco after. We are expecting 20-30 guests total. Not sure about the bathroom, great question! do you have to cross the sand to get to the pier? There are beach wheelchairs, I wonder if Excellence has any...
  12. We are doing Los Olas for the reception too. Beach ceremony and X-Lounge cocktail hour. Personally I liked how organic Los Olas looked and fit well with my vision of the wedding. Our group is small too and some older folks so we figured we will save $ on the DJ and just all go out afterwards. @happykat I had the same thought that Los Olas looked like a mini Lobster House but our group will be too small for it too.
  13. I wasn't planning on doing one either. However I was thinking about everyone tossing beach balls at the end of the ceremony so I would have to write "instructions" for that so people will know what to do with a tiny uninflated beach ball on their chair.
  14. It is totally confusing! This is the one thing I have put my fiance in charge of because even on the county website, its says conflicting things. But I think you have to get the marriage license before and then legally get married. We are planning on just doing it at the courthouse the week before.
  15. I was wondering the same thing. We are just doing a symbolic ceremony, but its "real" to all our guests and we want to make sure we are going to have the right words too. I haven't even talked to Jessica about this part yet. Good to know they will work with you and especially on the flowers! The ones they sent don't look that good at all.
  16. I love the backless dresses!! That's what I got and if it works for you, I think they are amazing.
  17. We got the travel included with the resort price through our TA too. Made it easier for booking and pricing to have it all included together.
  18. thanks!! It really does feel good. I am the anal one too and my fiance was still paying off his first wedding when we met (they were married for about a year before she left) and I refuse to have debt every again. Did it once and hated that feeling enough to be crazy about my budgets now. So I totally feel where you are coming from too, its much better this Way!
  19. Although I still know plenty of people who have had a wedding paid for by the brides family, the majority (in my circle of friends) pay for it themselves, myself included. I used to wish my parents would pay for my wedding (because that would mean they would have more money), but I knew from a young age that wouldn't happen. I do agree that it helps you stay in control of the wedding and don't have to do stuff just because someone else was paying for it. Of course it would be "easier" to just have it all paid for, but we are 7 months out and have 90% of our wedding paid for and that feels really really good! Best of luck and my biggest advice is don't get into debt over a wedding....
  20. Love your dress! I agree with the above and would also ask the seamstress for their advice. Maybe they can help you make a decision. Good Luck!
