  1. @@Maggietron that's a good one! Did he put the ring on your finger? Mine didn't he just kinda "shoved" it at me and said here lol
  2. I love this forum, not sure my fiance gets what it actually is. Lately it has been my break during the day with work being super stressful and crazy. Its nice to be able to chat with other gals who are also planning a wedding. Most of my friends are already married with kids and did this 5-10 years ago.
  3. That's all my fiance wants too, just a fun party. Which I want too, but I know all of the gals will appreciate the fun, cute stuff! @ppcmc it was actually my fiances idea! I was just thinking we would take selfies or have a random person take some pictures lol. It was a great idea and it will make it more special to have good photos of that time especially since that is the legal wedding! Originally we were going to get legally married in Mexico but the cost and everything you had to do was ridiculous. Easier just to do it here before. And that way I get our anniversary when I really wanted it!!
  4. I love pictures but can't stomach shelling out thousands of dollars for them. So I am the one who is trying to spend less on that area. We are also getting married before we leave (at a courthouse just the 2 of us) and having a photographer be there for that. And we have 2 photographers in the group, although they won't be taking the "professional" pictures. We hope to enlist them to take pictures all weekend. I want to make sure the whole weekend is captured not just the few hours of the wedding.
  5. Yup!! He was like "ahhhhh I can't wait if you want" it was so funny and sorta sad at the same time. I don't even remember whim asking me to marry him (although he swears he did)!
  6. ha ha thats cute, boys will be boys and they just don't get certain things! One good thing about marrying someone who has already been married and a bit older (and wiser) he doesn't protest about much that I suggest
  7. That is a great story! It never turns out how they planned nor how we envisioned it. I actually said "seriously, you are doing this now" followed up by "you aren't waiting for vacation" We were going on vacation a couple of weeks later and I was convinced he was going to do it then. The look on his face was priceless and I felt soooooo bad!
  8. We are at about $16,000 too, I originally only wanted to spend $12,000 but knew that was wishful thinking and impossible. My fiance can spend money like it grows on trees, I am much more frugal, despite our income. If we were to do a wedding here it would be easy $20,000 for just the ceremony and reception not including much else and that just didn't seem worth it to me!
  9. Exactly!! Don't worry about the little stuff, I promise no one will notice and really no one cares. They are just there to see you get married and have fun! I have been using the budget on wedding wire to add up costs and you can put in how much you have paid to see how much you owe. It was super helpful because my fiance keeps wanting to add everything and I keep saying no. Finally I sat him down and went through the budget line by line and he was shocked at the total.
  10. ha ha right! That's the problem with weddings and then you say to yourself (or its my fiance saying to me) "its only our wedding once" and keep justifying extra costs. Surprisingly I am the one who has to say no to him all the time! lol
  11. That is how they really make their money! I am just trying to stick with my original plan of keeping it simple. Maybe adding a few things, if they will bring a lot to the wedding, but otherwise sticking with simple!
  12. I would love to help if your were closer! I am an event planner and used to do weddings also. We are also doing a legal ceremony here at at courthouse the week before and I have to go out of town for work that week, so that will be "fun" leading up to it lol Don't forget to relax and enjoy the "ride" it will all be over before you know it!
  13. That is really good pricing! I am still trying to figure that part out. Since we have our legal "wedding" being professionally photographed and a professional photographer as a guest at the wedding. I reduce the amount spent on the professional wedding photography.
  14. I was going to do the boudoir photo shoot and book. He was super bummed when he realized I was going to do it but won't do the same thing as his ex. I still want to do it for him maybe for our first anniversary for the "paper" or another holiday, but he thinks I totally scrapped the idea forever (I was SUPER disappointed when I found that out). I thought about a watch, but he doesn't wear watches lol. He said he used to but doesn't really any more so I am just kind of stumped! Love this idea! I have also seen people save a seat and put that persons picture there or have a "memorial" table at the front. I just realized I am almost half way to 150, YAY!
  15. Congrats on that!! How is his pricing? Unfortunately my photographer (also a guest) is pregnant and will have a 5 month old and won't be able to make the trip now. But she will still photograph our legal ceremony here with just my FI and I!
  16. I agree, it would be really pretty. I love live music, but for me not sure the costs are worth it. But if you have it in your budget, I say do it!
  17. Great, thanks! How are you feeling with your wedding less than 2 months away?!
  18. I have seen those handkerchiefs and think they are so cute and special. Was definitely thinking about getting one for my mother in law. @@NJBride2014 did you get one for each parent?
  19. ha ha no worries, I do really like that song though!! The songs are the one thing that we have not been able to easily decide on. We have plenty of time so I am not worried and maybe I can break him down with the song I want
  20. I haven't done it, but my friend went to a DW last year and they gave out beach towels. They didn't personalize it, instead just had the date and place. It's cute, maybe wedding chicks? Or any place that does custom items for business or personal should be able to do something like that.
  21. Sounds good, thanks! My dad is saying he will be there. either way the picture idea is perfect, something special but nothing crazy.
  22. No my mom won't be attending, she is not in contact with our family at all (Drama!) and honestly my dad is sort of on my sh*t list right now, he never even asked to see us after we got engaged. Anyways we are not having a wedding party, but I love the watch and bracelet idea. Something simple and classy that she could wear for special occasions or maybe even daily. Ya I like the picture idea, maybe we will just do that for when we get back.
  23. Hello ladies- Any of you getting your future husband a gift to open on his wedding day or day before?? I was planning on getting him one so we discussed it and decided to do it. But then I found out my gift idea is the same exact thing his ex wife got him for a wedding gift. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed and now stumped at what to even get him. Or should we just scrap the whole idea? But I kind of like it.... Help!
  24. Okay random question I just thought of as I am reading different forums. Do we need to get parents a gift? We are paying for everything ourselves and my mother isn't even in the picture any more...?
  25. I have heard the steel drums version and love it!! Just not going to walk up the aisle to the same thing my future hubbys ex wife did . I love sweet pea too, except one of our friends had that song as their first dance (maybe I am being too sensitive). The photo book sounds like a cute idea!
